Cali was in deep thought in the middle of cooking, thinking if she should tell him about the black rose.
"What’s wrong? You look restless. Is everything alright between you and that old man?" Edward comnted, noticing Cali was spacing out.
Cali glared at him and then smiled helplessly and replied, "Oh nothing. Just that I’m feeling a little sleepy. And... he is not an old man!"
Edward only shrugged his shoulders.
Cali could tell that he was a sporty person since his attitude remained the sa with her and Rui, with the sa friendly and approachable personality. The only difference was that he started teasing her about Rui every now and then.
Suddenly Kane crossed her mind so she made a note in her mind to call and ask Shane later how he was doing. How she suddenly hoped Kane too had that kind of personality where he would remain as he was before that episode.
The class soon ended, and Rui imdiately held Cali’s hand.
"Where do you want to go? It’s still early..." Rui enthusiastically comnted as soon as they ca out of the class.
Cali decided to tell Rui everything and heaved a long sigh and uttered, "I will go to the admin to report about sothing first."
Rui stopped in his tracks and looked keenly at her as he asked, "What happened?"
Cali then told him about the black rose that she found inside her locker, and that her locker was not broken either. Rui was so devastated and worried that he not only accompanied her but he himself managed everything about the complaint.
The security of the school imdiately checked the CCTV footage, and it surprised all of them that the CCTV of that specific area was broken, so there was no recording found at all for that particular day.
Rui imdiately made a police report and escalated the matter, while he tried to contact Candice several tis as he rembered what she told him.
He cursed because Candice’s number could not be reached. They finished reporting, and the police promised that they would look into the matter imdiately. The school also implented strict security because of the incident.
Rui and Cali went straight back ho afterward. It was rather a ntally tiring day for them.
"I will assign a security team for you," Rui inford.
"Is that necessary? I an, it could be just an admirer like what others said..." Cali murmured.
"No, Cali! No sane person would sneak inside soone’s locker, and how can you explain how that person even unlocked and put back the lock on your locker?" Rui said in a worried tone. He was restless and dead worried.
That was also the reason why the police would take action on the matter and why the school would implent tight security.
Rui sighed and continued dialing Candice’s number on his mobile phone. He wished he could get so information from her and would be able to find out the mystery behind the black rose. What worried him the most was that Cali was involved in so matters that he had no control on.
Cali, on the other hand, felt irritated to her core seeing Rui trying to call Candice over and over again and more so because he did not tell her yet why he needed to desperately talk to Candice.
"Why do you keep calling Candice? Isn’t her phone switched off?" Cali could not help but bark.
Rui looked at her and finally noticed her crumpled face. He realised Cali was not aware of so many things. Also that she was too jealous of Candice and probably hated her deeply for trying to snatch him away.
Another silent curse ca but from him because he did not know how he would explain everything to Cali. He was too busy trying to contact Candice because he knew only Candice could answer his questions now. Candice knew about that black rose, she had warned him beforehand.
Rui gave Cali an awkward smile and then sat beside her on the couch. He lovingly held her hand and looked deeply into Cali’s eyes and asked, "Do you trust , sweetheart?"
Cali nodded with pouty lips. Rui chuckled and said, "It’s an assuring answer..."
Cali shrugged her shoulders and mumbled, "Of course I trust you but I want to know everything and I don’t want to be kept in the dark. Was it such a hard question to answer? Why do you keep calling Candice?"
Rui exhaled loudly. It was frustrating, but then it would be better to tell Cali.
"Candice told before to inform her in case you receive a black rose..." Rui stated.
Cali’s eyes rounded, with her palm covering her mouth, she burst, "What if it’s Candice? OMG like in movies.... She must be having so much hate towards and might be she is starting to scare like this, then fra so stalker for all this?
Then, she tells you all that beforehand so that she won’t look like the culprit? And to make her plan more foolproof she took an off from the school today!"
Rui wanted to burst out laughing at how Cali’s mind was actively analyzing things.
Oh, it’s more complicated now because there were certain things that he himself could not explain as well, but all he knew was Candice was a good person and would always side with the good and not with the bad. He also heard that she saved Xander and Yera several tis.
She was assigned with so kind of mission that was why she was there in the university according to Xander, so if he was right, all that Candice was involved in must also involve that black rose.
His thoughts were interrupted when Cali clapped her hands before his face as she scoffed, "Hey, wake up! You’re spacing out! Lost in dreaming about that extrely beautiful villain?"
Cali looked displeased, and Rui wanted to laugh out loud hearing her words but was still having a hard ti thinking how he could explain things to her in a lighter way.
"Cali, Candice is not like that. You have a wrong impression of her because of ..." Rui stated and another silent curse ca, seeing how Cali frowned at him.
