Chapter 313: 313: So This Is What Like Feels Like (Part 4)_1
At the small hillside, Yixuan leaned against the trunk of a tree, his eyes vacant.
What was wrong with him after all?
His heart was in chaos, utterly in chaos. In his more than twenty years of life, it seed to be the first ti.
He looked up at the sky, which was very overcast, as if a storm was brewing.
Watching the dark clouds gather, suddenly, rain began to drizzle down, cool droplets falling onto him. He was slightly taken aback, then hoarsely murmured to himself, "What’s wrong with you after all?"
He recalled the girl’s distant deanor, how she used to be so approachable and charming but had beco estranged, so very distant.
It seed like everything was normal, but he could feel her changes.
And now his whole heart felt tangled up, a ssy, jumbled knot.
Suddenly, he rembered how in the past she would beam with happiness towards him and how she’d coyly call out to him, ’Yixuan, Yixuan.’ At this mont, he felt an unexpected wave of nostalgia.
Had he been attracted to her?
As his second brother said, he liked her.
Yes, he liked her!!
So this was what liking soone felt like.
He thought he would never fall for anyone.
He had truly believed that...
...
Dong Huiying’s mood seed unaffected as she busied herself in the kitchen.
In the outer room, Shujun sniffed his nose, the aroma of pork wafting from next door, signifying sothing delicious was being cooked. He couldn’t help but comnt, "The Wang family lives such a good life. As long as Aunt Wang is around, they get to eat at every two or three days. It’s rather odd though."
The Wang family didn’t seem wealthy, Aunt Wang’s husband had died of an epidemic years ago, and after her son got married off, only Aunt Wang and Fubao were left in the household. Yet, the living standards of the Wang family were quite high; they might not eat at every al, but it wasn’t far off.
It truly didn’t make sense, for Aunt Wang was usually stingy and harsh, with one complaint about hunting being too dangerous and another about farming being too tiring – so how could she be willing to spend money on at? And the big question was, where did the money for the at co from?
"Third Brother, what are you muttering about?" Yue Ning craned his neck around only to receive a slap on the back of his head from Third Brother.
"Can’t I just daydream for a bit?"
Yue Ning pouted, thinking to himself that Third Brother only had the nerve around him. If Third Brother had such guts, why didn’t he show off in front of Big Brother and Second Brother? He could only pick on him and Fourth Brother.
Thankfully for Third Brother, Yue Ning’s thoughts remained unspoken, or else he might have received another slap in order to be taught what respect due to elders ant and the hierarchy among siblings.
......
Yixuan returned from outside, seemingly having regained his calm.
Lunch was abundant, with the brothers gathered around the table, Dong Huiying also sitting in her place.
She ate without looking around, focusing on the bun in front of her and the soup in her bowl. When she was almost finished with her soup, Shujun was about to reach for her bowl when Yixuan unexpectedly beat him to it.
"The soup you made today is really tasty."
Yixuan smiled, refilled her bowl with soup, and gently placed it in front of her.
Dong Huiying smiled in response, yet her eyes remained devoid of emotion.
"If it’s tasty, have so more."
Yixuan agreed with a word but lowered his eyes to hide the bitterness stemming from her coldness.
Was this... could this be considered self-inflicted?
Originally, everything was fine, but it had all been ruined by him.
...
After lunch, the Liang Family Brothers were in no rush to leave ho. Like usual, Yixuan cleaned the table and washed the dishes while Yue Ning helped.
Shu Yu felt sleepy, slumping on a long bench in the living room, leaning against the wall with her eyes closed for a light nap, while Big Brother Zhi Chen was called over by Dong Huiying.
