Evelyn’s POV
Eryx showed up with my security team. Two guards went straight to Alexis while Eryx and the others surrounded , waiting for orders.
I saw Calvin in the distance but ignored him. Instead, I turned to Eryx and my security guys.
"Surround the pool. Don’t let any of them get out."
Eryx had about a dozen n with him. He put two with Alexis and spread the rest around the pool. Every ti Diana or her friends tried to climb out, my guys shoved them back in.
I looked at the crowd with cold eyes, then told Eryx, "Record everything."
Then I spoke directly to everyone watching. "Listen up. I’m Evelyn Blackwell, and I don’t forgive people who ss with . I pay back every single thing."
My voice wasn’t loud, but everyone could hear in the sudden quiet. "Anyone who thinks they can go after or my kids better think about whether they can handle what I’ll do back."
"You all rember what happened to the Johnson family, right?"
I saw people flinch when I ntioned them. They rembered perfectly. The Johnsons used to be one of the top families in Ravenshade until they crashed and burned. Cyrus Johnson was in prison now, and his company got broken up and sold for nothing.
As for Liri Johnson, she was locked up in Ravenshade Psychiatric Hospital. Word was that her caretakers were people she used to bully and hurt.
It was perfect karma that the people Liri tortured now controlled her life. People said that a group of her victims got together and paid money specifically to keep her alive. Death would be too easy for her.
Her victims supposedly visited her all the ti. The ones whose legs Liri broke would take off their fake legs and make fun of her. Others whose throats got damaged when Liri made them drink poisonous stuff would glue her clothes to her skin.
So would dress in white nightgowns and sit by her bed at night, shining flashlights in her face whenever she tried to sleep. She’d fall out of bed screaming. Nobody ca to help because her room was far away from the staff.
Within a month, Liri completely lost it. But her month of hell couldn’t compare to the lifeti of damage she did to other people who still had ntal problems years later.
I didn’t plan those specific punishnts, but I made sure Liri ended up in that place after she tried to get out of trouble by pretending to be crazy. I also made sure her victims knew where to find her. What happened after that wasn’t my problem.
"Fighting cruelty with cruelty isn’t perfect," I continued, making sure my voice carried across the lawn. "But people who never suffered shouldn’t be so quick to talk about forgiveness."
I stared at several people who had their phones out, recording everything. "If anything from tonight shows up online, I will track down who did it, even if it costs everything I have."
"The Johnson family is a perfect example of what happens when you cross ."
My threat hung in the air. One by one, phones disappeared into pockets and purses.
The pool at the pack house was deep. Even good swimrs would get tired without anywhere to rest, and Diana wasn’t young or in good shape. She and her friends were already having trouble staying up.
"Evelyn, you’ve completely lost it! Let out of here!" Diana yelled. Her voice was strained from exhaustion and anger.
I stood at the edge, looking down at her without any emotion. "Diana, what exactly did you call my daughter before?"
Calvin’s POV
I’d been drowning my sorrows in whiskey after overhearing Evelyn say she wouldn’t co back to when my Beta burst into my room.
"Alpha, there’s trouble at the pool. Your mother and Evelyn..."
I didn’t need to hear more. I rushed downstairs.
When I reached the outdoor area, the scene was chaos. Diana thrashing in the pool while Evelyn stood at the edge with cold fury.
My eyes imdiately found Alexis. Her small face was red. The twins flanked her protectively.
I walked over and picked up Alexis. "What happened here, Alex?" I asked quietly, checking the mark on her head.
Before Alexis could answer, Rhys stepped up. That kid was just like his mother. Straight to the point and fearless.
"Grandmother called Alexis a bastard," he said. "Then she pushed her off the bench. The guards didn’t help." His face got hard. "Mom is giving her what she deserves."
I felt Cyra getting pissed off inside . My mother had always been difficult, but this crossed every line.
"Dad, Mom isn’t wrong," Rhys said, looking at my face. "Grandmother hurt Alexis first."
I nodded. "I know, son. Your mother did exactly what I would have done."
Rhys looked relieved. The crowd had moved back from the pool, staying far away from Evelyn.
Alexis pulled on my shirt. She pointed at Diana splashing in the pool and then at herself.
"She said Alex is a little bastard," she told with confused eyes. "Uncle, what’s a bastard?"
The anger almost made everything go black. I took a deep breath and smoothed her hair.
"Alex doesn’t need to know what that word ans," I told her gently. "Because it has nothing to do with you."
She accepted my answer. I got down to the boys’ level, still holding Alexis.
"You two did great protecting your sister," I told them. Both boys looked proud.
I looked at the red mark on her forehead. "Does it hurt?"
Alexis nodded and her lip started shaking.
I stared coldly at the two security guards standing behind my sons.
"Where were you when soone was hurting Alex?"
"We were protecting the young heirs, Alpha," one said stiffly.
I knew what that ant. They cared more about my sons than about Alexis. They watched my mother hurt a three year old and did nothing.
I called to Harrison, our head butler. "The Bloodbane Pack doesn’t want people who won’t protect kids. Any of them."
The guards went pale. "Alpha Calvin..."
"You’re fired," I cut them off. "Get out within an hour."
The maids looked nervous and scared. I could see guilt all over their faces.
"Sa goes for any staff who screwed up today," I said coldly. "All of you, out."
People started whispering. My grandfather’s birthday party was a big deal, and I was making a scene. I didn’t give a damn.
I stopped listening to their excuses. I looked back at the pool where my mother was still splashing around.
"Calvin!" she scread when she saw . "Help ! Your ex wife has lost it!"
I didn’t move toward the pool. Instead, I gave Alexis to Harrison. "Please get the doctor for Alex."
More guests had co outside because of the noise. I could see shock on their faces when they realized I wasn’t helping my mother.
"Calvin! I’m your mother! Are you going to let this woman drown ?"
I looked at my kids and then at Evelyn by the pool. The choice was easy.
