She turned to him only to see his lips stretched and drawn back. She saw the faint outline of wrinkles between his brows. He was holding back sothing from her.
"I should have known…" he trailed off. "I shouldn't have left you with him."
"Known what?" She looked at him in confusion. Wondering what he was talking about. Her mind just felt lost at that mont. She may have gained back mories of him but they were just pieces of their ti together. She recalled the ti he visited her at ho just to 'borrow' her from her parents. She still couldn't rember their faces but she rembered their nas. Li Bingbing and Lu Xian Yu. She rembered being left with Si Hongqi but just like her parents, she still has to rember how he looked.
Their eyes t. Yong Liwei was staring at her with mixed emotions seen in his eyes. The beat of his heart echoed inside him. He felt a heavy feeling in his chest, suffocating him. He sighed, sohow releasing the tension inside him. He took the glass she was holding and placed it on the bedside table. "Since you rember … do you rember what I've told you?"
What he told her?
He turned back to her. Seeing the confusion in her eyes, he heaved out a sigh and reminded her, "I have enemies."
"Yes but…" she stopped mid-sentence. She rembered that ti in his car. He warned her. "I got into an accident because I saved soone," she continued.
Because she saved soone? He shook his head a bit, disagreeing with her words. "I don't think so."
A crease ford between her brows. Once again, uncertainty filled her eyes. "What do you an?"
Another sigh escaped his lips. She doesn't rember. If she did, then she would have said that it wasn't an accident but instead… she was captured. "You may not rember it yet but according to Si Hongqi, after you got into an argunt with him, you got off his car in the middle of the highway. There was no accident. If there was, he would have known. Your family would have known," he explained lucidly. "It was either you rode soone else's car and ran away or soone kidnapped you."
Kidnap? Her eyes went wide. She has no mory of what happened or her argunt with Si Hongqi but if it was coming from him, there was no reason for Yong Liwei to lie. She already knew that Bai Keran has been lying to her all this ti but she never thought that he would have lied to her about her accident too.
"But… why would Bai Keran help live?" She thought out loud. "I could have woken up with my mories intact. I could have recognized him and sued him."
"You don't have to force yourself to rember any of it." He didn't know how she survived after being kidnapped. Sohow, he considered her being alive as a miracle. "I don't think he's the reason you're in this state. I've been in partnership with the Bai family for years. They are not my enemy." He sounded so sure about it.
She refused to believe him. It was hard when she already knew what kind of person that old man was. "He lied to , Yong Liwei. He told that I was his adoptive granddaughter, that I was his grandson's fiancé. He married to him. I have also recently found out that he has been holding a grudge against the Lu family. There's no way he's not connected to what happened to ."
Yong Liwei beca quiet for a while. He has never had any conflict with that family. "What if he was just taking advantage of the situation? For all we know, there can be a possibility that he didn't know you at first when he saved you."
Now that he said that, it could be possible too. Lu ngjie thought. She has been in a coma for two months. It was enough ti to find out who she was. But there was still doubt inside her. "What made you so sure that it's not him?"
"He was not at the charity event we attended neither was any of the Bai family mbers. You were my partner. I introduced you as my lover so that ans, whoever was behind what happened to you was in that party." There were almost 300 people at that event. So he recognized as his business rivals and a few people he was not on good terms with. "There is a high probability that the mastermind was there."
Yong Liwei already warned Lu ngjie. They were prepared for what was to co except… they never thought that the enemy would act so fast just within the sa night of seeing them together. He felt guilty and responsible. "I don't know how you escaped…" he paused and reached out to gently hold her hand. "But I'm glad that you're alive…"
She looked down at his hand. The warmth coming from his hold felt familiar, she couldn't help but be drawn to it as she held his hand back. She was relieved. Finally, she was with soone she could fully trust. Soone she knew. Soone from her past. Soone who knew her. He could have just stopped looking for her. Their relationship wasn't serious after all. It was just starting. She rembered that he was also a busy man but here he was.
"I'm sorry, ngjie… I failed to protect you," he said as he cast down his eyes.
"It's fine. It's not your fault. Besides, it's not like we made promises to protect each other." She didn't bla him. Their relationship was not out of love.
Lu ngjie suddenly rembered sothing which made her place her hand on her stomach. She felt her heart pound in her head. She was pregnant. He was the only man she slept with. A small fear grew in her chest as she thought that if she was captured, there was also a possibility that…
A sharp headache appeared. "A-argh!" She groaned loudly.
