Lu ngjie wondered why Bella suddenly wanted to et up with her so she agreed to see her that day. She drove her way to District C. It was almost a two hours drive from the place she ca from. She headed straight to the address that Bella sent her, it so happened that it was one of Pride's residential hos.
The person who first greeted her when she entered the place was none other than Bella herself.
"Xiao ng, I'm glad to see that you have arrived safely." She pulled her into a gentle embrace. "As much as I wanted to head to you, I can't, I'm sorry dear."
Lu ngjie hugged her back. "It's alright," she replied with a small smile as she pulled back from the hug. "Anyway, why did you want to co here?"
"I know so many things have happened to you the past few days… I want to sohow lessen the burden you're carrying." Bella gently cupped Lu ngjie's cheek as she noticed how pale she beca. The dark bags under her eyes didn't go unnoticed by her as well.
The young woman ended up blinking a few tis, sohow puzzled at the words Bella stated. "What do you an?"
"Co, I'll show you." She took her hand in hers and began leading the way upstairs. They stopped in front of a certain room located in the middle of the hallway.
Bella held the doorknob and slowly turned it. She gently pushed the door open and when she did, the sight of a dark-haired man, sitting in the middle of the bed ca into view.
Lu ngjie's eyes slowly widened in disbelief when she saw the familiar-looking man in the room. She covered her mouth and her sight began to go glossy.
"B-Bai Jingye? Y-you're… you're… H-how…?"
The man on the bed turned his head to look at Lu ngjie. He was already inford that she was going to co to the place to see him. His arms were covered with bandages. His eyes softened and a faint smile appeared on his lips when he saw her. "To cut the story short, I saved him before that brat could kill him. We faked his death since we needed to deceive Si Guanlin. As for why calling you was delayed, we decided that it's better to tell you the truth once he wakes up. The fewer people who know that he's alive, the better," Bella explained. "He's–" she paused as she watched Lu ngjie run past her just to get to Bai Jingye's side.
"Thank goodness you're alive!" Lu ngjie exclaid in delight as she leaned forward and hugged him.
"Ugh… not so tight…" He groaned, his brow flinched at the contact since the wounds on his body were still fresh.
She quickly pulled back. "O-Oh, sorry." She wiped off the tears that flowed down her cheek. Lu ngjie couldn't stop herself from smiling. She was so relieved that the man before her was alive. "I have to tell Xiao Ruyi!" She hurriedly pulled her phone out of her pocket. She was about to give her friend a ssage but was stopped when Bai Jingye placed his hand on top of her phone.
He shook his head and said, "no, we can't tell her that I'm alive. Not yet."
Lu ngjie was not expecting to hear those words from him. "What? Why? She needs to know, Jingye. Xiao Ruyi is missing right now. We don't know where she went. She had been hit the hardest when we learned about your death. We have to–"
"We can't." He was firm with his decision. He turned to Bella which made Lu ngjie turn to the older woman as well.
Bella sighed. "We can't tell her since she's currently with Si Guanlin."
"Huh?" Lu ngjie was dumbfounded at the words she said. "W-with Si Guanlin? What do you an? How did you…?"
"The person who was assigned to kill Bai Jingye was one of Si Guanlin's n. Her na is Matsuma Ohana. Despite working under that man, she had helped us in covering Bai Jingye's tracks. It's already surprising that she easily handed Bai Jingye to when I arrived." She walked towards the sofa and sat there. "I'm not sure if she's on our side or not. We don't know what's the deal with her but one thing is for sure, her loyalty is not with Si Guanlin."
After everything she said, the only thing that was playing in Lu ngjie's mind was the fact that Tian Ruyi was with Si Guanlin. Why would she go to him?
"That's why we can't let her know right now." Bai Jingye's voice brought her out of her thoughts.
"I'm sure that Si Guanlin might have said sothing to deceive Xiao Ruyi. If she knows that you're alive, she will surely co back to our side."
"But you will only be endangering her if you do that. As long as she's with him, she's basically his hostage." When he learned about the situation Tian Ruyi was currently in from Bella, his initial reaction was similar to Lu ngjie's.
The younger woman pursed her lips and clenched her fists right as she lowered her head. It was not like what they said was wrong. "I have to see and talk to her…" "I also want that, ngjie but given the situation right now, I don't think it will be that easy to reach out to her." Bai Jingye sighed. He couldn't help but bla himself for putting his childhood friend in danger.
"Si Guanlin…" She gritted through her teeth. She knew how he worked, how poisonous his words were. She never thought that he would reach out to Tian Ruyi and use her against them. He had always been their enemy. She may have turned a blind eye to his works in the past but not this ti. She had to do sothing and stop him before any more lives would be taken.
