’’Surprised? Shocked?" Ryle backed from as he threw the wig to the floor.
Daisy felt the the lack of warmth on her skin, her body trembled slightly by the cold. She crossed her arms in front of her chest, her fingers gently rubbing her shoulders.
"Say sothing,’’ Ryle looked at her mockingly, ’’Or have you turned dumb?"
Daisy t his gaze, ’’When did you know?"
"Long ago,’’ Ryle whispered.
The day he had encountered her in the supermarket, he had drawn a connection between Dexter and Daisy. It was too much of a coincidence that months ago, he had encountered Daisy when he was looking for Dexter in that place. And that day when he had gone to et Dexter, he encountered Daisy in that sa locality. Dexter and Diana seed close then why was there no exchange between Dexter and Daisy?
Those questions kept revolving in his mind for a period of ti. The strand of hair that he gave Dexter was just to test his reaction.
All his questions however had answers that were right in front of his eyes in the annual party of the Chens. He assud that Si Yena was Dexter’s ex lover who betrayed him but the woman had so connection with Daisy.
And every clue was laid out right in front of his eyes. But he refused to see the truth because he trusted his subordinate and he trusted his judgent of Daisy. He saw her as a woman who was too aloof towards the world, too unbothered for dirty tricks and lies.
As he spoke, Daisy had a weird feeling nibbling down her conscience, ’’I...’’
’’But it is hard for to not recognize your moves, the way you moved on your instinct and protected efficiently,’’ Ryle clicked his tongue, ’’You revealed your cards right there and then.’’
Daisy’s face blanched and her gaze snapped at him. She looked at him in disbelief, ’’Revealed my cards?"
Ryle looked at her quietly.
’’It was all a setup?" Daisy stepped back from him, ’’Just because you had your suspicions about , you planned all of it?"
It suddenly dawned on her.
The reason why he seed so off guard. The reason he did not let his n accompany them to protect him. And the reason why he did not dodge when she called out to him.
Daisy’s lips parted, ’’I thought you had an ulterior motive, so other goal behind taking to the Spring Festival Fair but you convinced otherwise. You sounded so sincere that I fell for it. I let my guards down.’’
Daisy’s eyes turned red, ’’We never had any trust between us in the first. I kept you in dark and sched against but why would you involve my child in this?"
She pressed a palm on her mouth, her body shivering at the possibilities of everything that could have gone wrong.
She had trusted the man with her daughter. She had felt so sort of warmth from their interaction. Just how careless had she been?
Daisy almost fell to the floor when she took a rushed step ahead but she pressed her palm on the floor.
Her eyes road around and she spotted her phone that was kept facing down on the bedside table.
Daisy grabbed her phone and walked out of the room. The mont the door opened, the man who had his ear pressed on the door staggered inside the room.
Benjamin looked at Daisy awkwardly, his hand in the air, ’’Miss Ch... Dex... Miss Chen...’’
Daisy walked past the man.
She went to the guest room where Ryle had brought her earlier and proceeded to pick Angel in her arms.
Ivy was alerted by the movents around her. She removed her headphones and looked up at Daisy, ’’You are awake...’’ her eyes lit up, ’’Are you feeling better... What are you doing?" her gaze was laced with confusion.
’’Let’s get out of here,’’ Daisy whispered.
’’Let’s get away from her,’’ the words slipped her mouth again when Angel started crying from her tight grip.
Ivy was about to say sothing when she noticed Daisy’s weird body language. The woman was holding Angel so tightly as if she was going to disappear in the next mont, and her body was shaking
Daisy did not linger another mont inside the place.
’’But Daisy, we won’t get a cab around here at this hour. This mansion is situated in a secluded area...’’
Her words trailed off when she saw a cab passing by.
Ivy imdiately signalled the driver to stop.
After talking to him, she walked back to Daisy with a huge smile on her face, ’’Let’s go. We got lucky this ti.’’
Inside the mansion.
In the living room, Ryle sat on the couch with one leg crossed over the other as he glanced out of the glass wall, looking at Daisy until she got into the cab and the cab disappeared out of his sight.
Benjamin could not help but speak, ’’Boss, regarding Si Yena’s connection with Daisy Chen... they grew up together and they were best friends until...’’
Ryle raised a hand, motioning the man to stop speaking.
Benjamin shut his mouth as he stood on the side quietly. Ryle propped his forehead on his fist as he glanced at the pathway outside the mansion.
Benjamin could feel the tension that lingered in the air. The turn of events shocked him as well. He had just co to relay a few reports to Ryle. In the past few days, whatever news he had, he had to visit the man’s mansion to keep him updated about it because both Dexter and Ryle had disappeared from work. So, it was not like he could relay any information to Ryle through his secretary.
Today was one such night. It was pretty late but the information at hand was vital hence he had visited the man and since he had access to the mansion, he usually t the man in his room. But who could have known that he would co across such mind shackling news?
