Daisy pursed her lips and pushed herself to stand straight but the mont she moved, a wave of dizziness washed over as she stumbled back and her vision turned black.

When Daisy opened her eyes, she was greeted the vast expanse of white in front of her. Her vision was blurry and as she tried to open her mouth to call out to soone, she realized that her throat was parched as well.
Daisy tilted her face to the side and as the curtains moved, she could see the sky was still dark. She pressed her elbows on the bed and struggled to reach out towards the glass of water from the bedside table.
Once she drank a few gulps of water, she placed the glass down and leaned back on the headboard of the hospital bed, lost in her thoughts. The last thing she could rember was she was talking with Ryle near his car. And she had stood up suddenly when she beca dizzy.
The door to the hospital room opened and a doctor walked in, ’’Miss Chen, your condition is not that serious. You just had your period but while conducting tests, it seed like you had a complicated pregnancy and you went through C-section. So, the breastfeeding and the C-section can be so of the factors why you are having painful nstrual cramps. But these things can be regulated well with so lifestyle changes. I have prescribed so dications that you can opt for if you ever experience this again,’’ the doctor paused for a mont before speaking again, "Are you feeling better now?"
Daisy looked at the woman dazedly, ’’Much better...’’
The doctor smiled and nodded, ’’Then take so more rest. I will check your condition before you leave.’’
’’Wait,’’ Daisy called out to the woman.
’’Yes?"
’’What did you call just now?" Seeing the confused look on the doctor’s face, Daisy added, ’’You addressed as Miss Chen. How do you know my na?"
When it dawned on her, Daisy looked down at her body on instinct and she was greeted by the sight of her long dark hair that reached her waist. And her chest area was not covered with the corset she usual wore. Her curves were strikingly visible through the hospital gown.
’’It’s the sir who accompanied you. He filled in the information about you,’’ The doctor responded before she turned around and left.
Daisy fell into a daze. The last person who she rembered to be talking to her was Ryle.
Her face blanched. If he knew about her real identity and that she had kept him in dark all this while about being a man when she was a woman all along, then what now? After he has fulfilled his obligations of humanity by getting her to hospital, what is he going to do now?
"Awake?"
The trail of her thoughts were interrupted by the voice.
Daisy turned her head to side, only to be greeted by the sight of a familiar face.
The man standing at the door was the very sa man who saw through her disguise and then interrupted Ryle’s actions in the ballroom.
Daisy was barely conscious at that point in the ballroom but she was certain that she had not misheard the ntion of ’Lu’ Family from the man’s house when he interrupted Ryle from dealing with the socialite.
’’You are awake,’’ the man strode inside the hospital room without waiting for her response.
Daisy frowned.
’’Is that a way of thanking ?"
When he saw the wary look on her face, he continued, ’’You think Ryle Harper was about to leave you alone here?" The man looked at her questioningly.
’’How did you get him to go away?" Daisy asked.
’’Nothing much. Just a series of misinformation that the lady who slapped you had done sothing to you which is why you ended up in hospital. A man like him would assu that that woman had conspiracies against him for her to harm his people. He left his people here to look after you and possibly left to interrogate the woman. My n are keeping his n occupied.’’
Daisy lowered her head for a mont before she looked at the man again, ’’Why did you help ?" she asked coldly.
Daisy, did not even for a mont think that these n were in any way showing her kindness just because they were kind. For Ryle, his reputation was of utmost importance. So when a woman ca in the middle of a grand ball and slapped his right-hand man, of course he would take it as a slap on his face.
And the man standing in front of her was a complete stranger who happened to discover that she was a woman disguising as a man. Now, he ca to her rescue when she was in crisis. She did not forget how the doctor addressed by her last na. So, joining the dots together, she could not help but be equally wary of him.
’’What do you think, Miss Chen?"
’’What do you want, Mr. Lu?"
