Ryle walked towards Daisy and stopped at a distance of barely two steps from her.

’’I am in pain,’’ he said.

Daisy frowned. This man... Since when did he beco so slow? "I will call the doctor,’’ she turned around to leave without waiting for his response

But she had just taken a few steps when strong fingers wrapped around her wrist and pulled her back. this ti, she was standing even closer to Ryle than she was earlier and sohow, the proximity had her heart racing faster.

’’What are you doing? Let go call the doctor if you are in pain. You might get infected if we delay the treatnt. You...’’

’’Shhh,’’ Ryle pressed a finger on her lips.

Daisy stiffened, the warmth of his fingers seed to have suffused into her lips, then spreading into her whole face. She gulped softly.

Just when she thought that he would do sothing, the man calmly put his finger down and also released the hand that he had been holding.

It was only then that she rembered his words about being friends with her and not crossing lines again. Those were her suggestions initially. She had thought about their situation a lot before she had asked him to maintain a proper relationship with her but why did it seem like her body was not a part of her mind’s plans?

For a mont, Daisy felt like she might do sothing to him if she did not restrain herself.

Taken aback by the trail of her ’’not-so-decent’’ thoughts, she took a step back from the man.

The woman who usually remained aloof seed like a confused fawn at that mont. She looked like she was having a battle with herself.

Ryle found her too adorable and instinctively, he raised his hand to pinch her cheeks but before his hand could touch her face, she looked at him, further confused.

Ryle retracted his hand, pressed his fist on his mouth, and coughed before he spoke up, ’’I have already gotten my wound disinfected. I think I just need to change the dressing but my hands can’t reach everywhere so it’s hard for ...’’

"I will do it,’’ Daisy said before the man could continue speaking. She spotted the first aid kit and brought it over, ’’Remove your shirt.’’

’’I... Remove my shirt?" Ryle raised his eyebrows, ’’You... I... am shy. What are you trying to do?"

Daisy was on the last thread of her patience. He could have said anything else and she would have believed him but he had to tell her that he was shy. Who did he think he was fooling?

’’Then better don’t. I’ll go ask one of your bodyguards to co over and do it for you.’’

Seeing that not only she was not flustered but she even wanted to ask his bodyguards to replace her, Ryle realized that her buttons were pushed a bit too much accidentally, ’’I am not that shy,’’ As he spoke, he started to remove his shirt to show his sincerity, ’’And they are not doctors.’’

’’I am not a doctor as well. I am telling you I can get your doctor over,’’ she still had all his contacts in her phone even though she was not working for him anymore.

’’I don’t need a doctor for this.’’

If there was an award for contradicting himself, then it would go to this man.

Her eyes paused on the expansion of his muscular chest and as her gaze trailed down, she looked at the bandaged part of his abdon. Daisy put on the gloves before she removed the bandaging carefully.

There was a deep cut that seed to have been done by a dagger, ’’Did they see you?" Daisy looked at the wound in a daze.

’’No, I was in a disguise. I had found the nest of their leader but unfortunately, only his underlings were there again. They did not cause this,’’ Ryle looked at the woman who was cleaning his wound with gentle hands.

’’It was not caused by them? Then?" Daisy asked in surprise.

’’It was an underground dungeon kind of place. To go through it, you have to enter a narrow tunnel with hidden chanisms,’’ As Ryle spoke, he picked up the thick file from the bedside table and opened it to show her the layout of the place, ’’While entering that place, I triggered one of the chanisms accidentally hence the wound.’’

Daisy caught a few glimpses of it as she walked around his body, wrapping the gauge around his waist. Her eyes however soon wandered off from the file to his back that was riddled with various scars, big and small. They seed rather old.

Ryle had just closed the file and thrown it to the bed when he felt Daisy’s fingers gently caressing his back. His jaw clenched as a vein popped on his forehead.

’’What are you doing?" he asked in a suppressed voice that ca out hoarse and deep.

Daisy placed her hands down, ’’Why do you have so many scars?"

’’Just so souvenirs.’’

He did not say anything else and Daisy did not ask more about it. How can scars be referred to as souvenirs?

There was sothing about them that made her feel disturbed. It was not the first ti she witnessed scars after all. They reminded her of a ti when she had hated herself for being weak.

Daisy closed her eyes.

By the ti she finished dressing his wound, her emotions had already returned to normal.

’’Sleep well,’’ she quickly bade him farewell and left his room without lingering any further.

The next morning.

Ryle felt like his mansion was no longer like the desolate land that he was accustod to.

When he walked downstairs, Angel’s chirpy voice was echoing in the walls of a huge place as she wobbled and chased after his guards and played with them.
