Lucian’s POV
As I drove back to the hospital,it hit that Aria’s discharge was tomorrow, so I decided to get her a few clothes and other feminine things that she might like.
I pulled over at the next mall, took the escalator up and walked into the bright, air-conditioned chaos of the mall.
Not knowing what to get exactly,I moved on autopilot.I picked up her favorite Sephora lip balm,a cream colored cashre sweater,loose joggers and finally so white roses which I have learnt is her favorite.
The woman behind the counter smiled too brightly as I stood before the paynt register.
"Special occasion?" she asked.
"My wife’s coming ho tomorrow," I replied quickly to avoid further prying
Her smile softened. "She’s one lucky Lady."
I didn’t answer,I hurriedly completed the paynt and left the mall
Back in the parking garage, sothing seed odd,the rear mirror had shifted a bit but I quickly brushed it off as nothing.
I got into the car and before the I could even shut the door, the passenger door opened flew open
I froze.
A woman with dark sunglasses and a red scarf tied around her head slipped inside quickly and shut the door quickly behind her.
My hand was already moving to the glove compartnt. I yanked free the small glock I had kept there for ergencies, racked the slide and leveled it at her temple before she could even mood.
"Who the hell are you?,"
She raised both palms slowly"Easy, Lucian," she mattered. "I’m not ard."
I knew that voice.I reached over with my free hand and ripped the sunglasses off her face.
It was fuck’n Mia.
"What the hell do you think you’re doing sneaking into my car?" I snarled.
"It’s not what you think, Lucian. I figured that since Aria was awake now,she must have told you what happened at the Monty park and that explains why I’m receiving calls to flee because you were out to get ."
I pressed the muzzle harder against her temple. "Oh really,and you still had the nerve to get into my car. You must think I’m stupid right? I give you just ten seconds to tell who the fuck sent you here or I’ll burst your head open."
She didn’t blink.
"No one sent Lucian,like I said,I heard you were looking for so I decided to co to you myself before things went completely haywire. I’m only here to help."
I laughed"Help? Your help is the reason Aria is in that hospital bed. You lured her to Monty Park to set her up."
"I didn’t know Ethan was following that night. I swear on my life, Lucian. All I wanted was to give her proof that would help us end him. Ethan is a monster and I’m done working for him." she replied.
"Bullshit."
"I’m not asking you to believe , just give a another chance to make it up to Aria." She paused for a second then continued. "Victor Hargrove has a copy of the USB. He made his own backup copy a month ago incase Ethan tries to betray him. I know you have Victor, just use this opportunity to get sothing from him before you kill him or the police finds you."
I stared at her in shock of how much she knows,then I slowly lowered the gun but didn’t holster it.
"Get out," I yelled
She reached for the door handle.
"One more thing," she said, pausing. "Victor’s copy is on an encrypted drive in his ho safe but you’ll have to get the code from him."
She opened the door.
"Tell Aria I’m sorry and that I never wanted this."She added softly
She slipped between parked cars and in a second she was gone.
I sat there for a long mont still clutching the gun still in my hand.Was she really telling the truth?Or was this another stupid ga Ethan was trying to play?
I started the engine and drove back to Northbridge.Mike was still there when I arrived, "Boss,You’re back early.I was just about to go out in search for you girl"
Before I could speak, Mike’s eyes flicked past to the rear of the Audi. The smile on his face faded imdiately.
He strode forward, crouched near the back bumper and swore under his breath.
"That’s a fucking tracking device, boss."
I spun.
A small black box,no bigger than a matchbox was magnetically attached to the underside of the rear mirror,it’s red light blinking steadily.
My stomach dropped that mont. Mia
"That fuck’n bitch," I scread into the empty lot.
I beca so furious that I could feel my blood boiling from inside.
Mike stood right in front of with his fists clenched and I could tell he was as angry as I’m."Do you know who did this Boss?"
I didn’t respond,my mind was fixated on how to get back at Mia.That bitch just played like a fool and I carelessly fell for it now Ethan knows where I kept victor.
I looked at Mike.
"Get everyone ready, we’re moving the bastard sowhere else. This location is busted and it won’t take long before his rescue team gets here."
Mike nodded. "On it."
I should have just put a bullet in that bitchs head . But it’s cool,I’m going to find her and when I do?She was going to regret playing with if she survives what I will do to her
I turned to the warehouse and pushed the door open.
Victor’s voice echoed imdiately across the warehouse "Lucian? Is that you?"
"Yes Victor,it sounds like you’ve missed .I hope Mike’s treating to you well"
"Lucian please —"
Before he could finish,I heard a faint sound of blaring sirens in a distance.
Mike barged into the warehouse"Boss!,we have to leave now.The police is here!!"
"Fuuuuuuuck!!!"
