They are here. That was my first thought when I read the letters. My eyes scanned the place slowly but no one match my suspicions.

Hearing the snappy sound of high heels, we turned to Athena, scuttling in, breathing heavily.
"You’re okay!" She pitched with a forced smile.

I dipped my hand into my coat pocket and took out the lacy glove. Athena’s eyes moved towards it when I showed her before she set them on mine.

The elevator dings and the doors open. I heard a clatter, so I walked into the living room, my eyes moving to the kitchen.

Catherine flinched, turning to , holding a tub of ice cream. Her hair was ssy like she had just gotten out of bed, her glasses slanted.
She took the spoon out of her mouth. "Honey! You’re ho early."
"You’re awake."
"I um... couldn’t sleep. So late at night, I... OW!" She jumped when she set the tub down.
I was already close, checking if she was okay.
"I-I’m fine just..." she hissed.
I seized her wrist and found a cut in her palm.
"What happened?"
"Making dinner at 2 a.m didn’t agree with ... those knives are sharp."
"You should be careful," I said, observing the cut.
"It’s fine..." She tried to pull her hand away, but my grip tightened.
"I should have just stuck with ice cream."
Still holding onto her hand, I opened the cabinet and took out the first aid kit.
Catherine was silent as she observed my movent, not until I dampened the cotton on her wound.
She hissed, almost jumping out of my grip.
