Chapter 88 : You and I Will Eventually et (Fog)
At the end of the corridor, the lounge door was left slightly ajar, warm light spilling out. Langdon stopped before it and adjusted his tie and cuffs.
Then he raised his hand and knocked gently.
“Co in.”
A very pleasant female voice ca from inside, slow yet unforced, carrying laziness without distance. From the first impression of her voice alone, the person must possess remarkable beauty.
Of course, there was always the small possibility of a deceptive silhouette.
But since it was a small probability, it could not possibly occur everywhere… this was not so random alleyway after all.
Langdon entered as instructed, the old butler following behind with a recently retrieved bottle of vintage red wine. It looked aged — even the cork had deteriorated considerably.
From the mont he stepped inside, a faint scent of incense could be slled in the air, giving the room refined taste. Yet the true focus was the graceful figure seated on the sofa.
Like the sovereign of this fragrant paradise, fiery red wavy hair flowed down to her waist. From the exposed right ear and a trace of her profile alone, one could judge her to be extraordinary.
Her fair skin extended down the neck, and then a brief flash of light appeared — coming from the delicate ornant swaying from her earlobe.
First a rhombus-shaped gem, and below it a flat piece bearing a fallen-petal red rose pattern, all indicating an uncommon status.
Langdon tilted his chin toward the butler. After the butler stepped forward respectfully, Langdon personally took the precious wine bottle, then gestured for him to leave. The door closed behind him.
Only then did he slowly walk toward the center of attention.
“Miss Baifuli, are you satisfied with this place?” He gently placed the bottle on the table and opened it. “I heard you enjoy red wine. It seems the bottle I have treasured for many years has finally t soone worthy of tasting it.”
The wine slid into the goblet. Because of its age, the decanting ti was relatively short — and the reverse was naturally true as well.
Of course, drinking too much and waiting until tomorrow morning also worked.
More than ten minutes later, a slender hand accepted the awakened wine and took a small sip. A captivating smile blood upon those delicate red lips.
“The wine is excellent. Thank you for the hospitality, Young Master Langdon.”
“It is the wine’s honor to be approved. There is no need to be polite with ,” Langdon replied with a smile. He did not sit, rely held his own glass while standing nearby.
He continued the conversation. “After so many years, are you accustod to returning to Vosini?”
Hearing this, the beauty sighed softly, resting her chin against the sofa armrest and gently swirling the wine in her glass. “Nothing here has changed at all… the dietary habits I developed in Victoria will take so ti to adjust back. Quite troubleso.”
She took another sip. “Ah… and thank you as well for taking care of
these days, Young Master Langdon. Otherwise, this ‘holess’ pitiful person would not know what to do, hm hm~”
“That sounds far too distant,” Langdon laughed, feeling she was as humorous as ever. “We are business partners. Hosting a welcoming reception is naturally my responsibility.”
As he said, they had been business partners for many years. Over ti, most of their industrial chains had successfully expanded into Victoria, while Vosini could be considered their starting point.
Or perhaps a harbor from the storm.
Quite thought-provoking. They say that once people succeed, the first thing they want is to return to their hotown, to relive childhood warmth — or perhaps to lant how everything has changed.
“By the way, Miss Vivian has already arrived for so ti. Will you not go see her?”
“Ah… I would like to, but she may not wish to see .”
Langdon was startled. As an outsider, he did not know what had happened between the sisters before. He only knew they had been close… should that not be natural?
Yet now… sothing felt off.
“Then should I—”
Before he finished, the beauty covered her mouth and laughed lodiously, then stood up.
“Hehe… matters between sisters — does Young Master Langdon also wish to involve himself? I fear you would not be able to help.”
“Mm… that is true,” Langdon said awkwardly, scratching the back of his head.
Facing the playful smile of the beauty before him, he found it difficult to maintain his usual composure. First, it was human nature.
Second… this partner truly was difficult to handle.
It was as though she wore a mask — her thoughts impossible to read, always smiling, sotis saying things hard to understand.
In short, as an outsider, it was indeed inappropriate for him to interfere in the sisters’ affairs, regardless of whether he could help.
Then the delicate hand holding the glass approached Langdon. Understanding, he brought his own glass forward.
Clink—
The crisp sound of glass rang out. They raised their cups and drank the remaining wine simultaneously, placing the empty glasses onto the table.
“What are your plans afterward?” Langdon asked.
“Mm, of course… to properly reconnect with my adorable little sister. We have not t for so long. I have missed her dearly.”
“I see… very well. If you need anything, contact . I will do my best to help.”
Protecting the finest flower in the greenhouse.
The beauty did not reply, only smiled sweetly and left, a faint perfu trailing behind with the wave of her hand.
Langdon did not stop her. He watched her disappear from view with a smile, inhaled the lingering incense, poured himself another glass of wine, and sat on the sofa to enjoy it quietly.
……
anwhile, elsewhere.
Vivian swung her crossed leg in boredom while watching the n and won dancing in the distance, increasingly wanting to leave.
“Honestly… did Eve fall into the restroom?” she muttered, pouting as she reached for her glass.
But the champagne had already been finished without her noticing. Looking around and seeing no attendant passing by, she did not want to fetch it herself.
At that mont, Ellie returned after placing the greeting gift and noticed her Young Miss clearly needed sothing.
And Eve was nowhere to be seen. Hmph — neglecting her duty and leaving the Young Miss alone. She had long said that woman was unreliable.
Now was the perfect chance to perform well.
Thinking this, she hurried forward.
“Young Miss, do you require anything?”
Vivian glanced at her. She originally did not wish to respond, but eventually waved her hand, sounding irritated. “Bring
a glass of champagne. Quickly.”
“Yes.”
Ellie felt delighted and turned away. However, after finding an attendant, she learned the new champagne needed arranging before it could be served. If urgent, she could go directly to the kitchen to retrieve it.
She only wanted to satisfy the Young Miss, so after asking for directions to the kitchen, she hurried off in great haste.
Even passing guests could not help thinking — where was the composure a maid should have?
