Chapter 58 : Each Showing Their Ungainly Side

No, it had no effect at all. Although her hands felt pleasant and the scent of the body was sweet, she still could not suppress the urge to bite fiercely into the neck…

She could not stay any longer. Not even one more second…

Regardless of Vivian’s condition — without even looking again at the face filled with sha and anger — Eve released her restraint.

Then, without hesitation, she turned and strode out of the bathroom, her movents stiff, almost fleeing from this dangerous place.

After regaining freedom, Vivian collapsed as if a wound-up toy had spent its final motion.

Hanging over the edge of the tub, she lowered her head. A few pearl-like tears fell, and she gasped hoarsely, “Co… back… you beast!”

“Do not go… sob…”

……

After leaving the bathroom, Eve leaned against the cold door panel and took a deep breath of the chilly corridor air. The inhuman heart in her chest still pounded violently.

She raised a trembling hand and pressed her forehead. No… she needed to hide in her dormitory room imdiately. She only hoped she would not encounter anyone alive on the way back.

With that thought, her pace quickened. After descending the stairs she headed straight for her single dorm room, the rapid footsteps breaking the quiet night.

The kitchen light on the first floor was still on. A tall blonde figure was searching through sothing.

Sylvia easily retrieved the newly opened jar of grape jam from the high cabinet, thinking it would pair well with the remaining slices of white bread.

So the midnight snack had not been a joke after all.

At that mont, a white shadow flashed across her vision.

“E-Eve?!” Sylvia cried out, standing at attention in shock.

A streak of white passing in the night was unsettling. The figure appeared for only a second, leaving behind fading footsteps.

She cald herself, wondering why the girl was running. Was sothing urgent happening?

After a mont’s thought, Sylvia set the jam down again. She decided to eat first — perhaps Eve simply needed the restroom urgently. Young people were always in a hurry.

She leisurely spread jam onto the bread and took a bite. The next second, another set of hurried footsteps approached.

“Have you seen Eve?!”

“Cough—cough…” Sylvia slapped her chest, nearly choked by the bread.

After recovering, she saw the newcor — her own Young Miss. Wearing only a thin black gauze nightgown, red hair disheveled and damp strands clinging to her neck.

Most alarming was her expression — furious enough to devour soone.

“Young Miss, it is cold. Please keep warm…”

“Enough nonsense! Did you see that bastard Eve?!” Vivian clenched her fists, joints cracking. After Sylvia nodded, she pressed, “Where did she go?”

Anyone could see she was furious — like a cat enraged by the scent of another.

Swallowing nervously, Sylvia pointed toward the dormitory corridor. “Young Miss, she went toward the dorms.”

“The dorms? Take

there imdiately!”

“Understood…”

Though she did not know what had happened, she could not refuse her mistress.

Forgive , Sister Eve. If you angered the Young Miss… in this world one has little choice.

Sylvia hurriedly bit the half-eaten bread between her lips and rushed ahead to lead the way.

Thunder roared across the sky. Dark clouds flashed briefly before returning to darkness, and soon rain began to fall.

Wind followed, rattling the windows.

They stopped before Eve’s single dormitory room. The door was not locked, only slightly ajar.

“Young Miss, this is Eve’s room,” Sylvia said, still chewing the bread.

“This one? Good.”

Bang!!!

The next instant, Vivian kicked the door open, still holding her raised leg, glaring into the dim room.

Sylvia: …?

She had intended to open it herself — the kick was faster than thunder.

Vivian stepped inside, leaving the Head Maid outside. After a mont’s hesitation, Sylvia tapped her chest and forehead, clasped her hands, and prayed with closed eyes.

Hopefully nothing serious had happened.

Inside, Vivian’s gaze swept quickly across the room before stopping at the single bed near the window.

On the bed lay Eve — the sa person who had treated her so roughly and fled afterward.

She was actually sleeping?!

Vivian nearly blacked out with anger. She strode forward, ready to slap that face—

Yet her raised hand froze mid-air. After wavering up and down, she lowered it.

Not because she had softened — she truly wanted to strike. But the calm sleeping face with pale skin inexplicably drained her anger.

Instead she noticed sothing strange.

Even in sleep, Eve’s brows were tightly furrowed, as if in discomfort or a nightmare.

Still irritated, Vivian called, “Hey, bastard, wake up!”

No response.

“Tch… pretending to sleep?” She lightly patted Eve’s cheek and leaned closer to listen to her breathing.

What she did not see was the faint sar of red on Eve’s clenched fist.

As for the source — the right side of her head, which had just suffered a heavy blow, had already healed. The spilled blood had been reabsorbed.
