Chapter 50: Declaring Sovereignty ( )

Vivian suddenly turned around and grabbed the hem of the maid’s skirt behind her, tugging her forward.

This action completely caught Eve off guard. Her wandering thoughts were abruptly cut off, and for a split second she thought Vivian was about to do sothing unspeakable in public.

I know you have been suppressing yourself, but there are people watching. Is this really appropriate?

“From this day forward…” Vivian deliberately paused, her expression cold. She waited for everyone to snap out of it and raise their heads before continuing,

“She is my Personal Maid. She is also one of you—one of this group. I expect you all to get along with her properly and demonstrate the value you ought to show for my sake.”

Imdiately, murmurs spread among the maids. So were surprised, so confused, and so openly jealous.

Eve had been at Morninglight Manor for less than a month. In terms of seniority, she was the most junior. Even Ail and Ella, the two little ones, had already been here for two years.

Moreover, her personality was the strangest. She barely interacted with the other maids. Even when greeting them, she only gave a cold nod. That said, her work was impeccable.

Still, that indifferent attitude toward everything was truly irritating…

BANG!

Vivian slamd her palm on the desk and shouted, “Silence! I did not ask for discussion! If you cannot control your mouths, I will tear them off!”

The room fell quiet at once. Vivian muttered a few irritated Vosini curses before turning her head toward the white-haired maid who was still standing there in a daze.

The maids followed her gaze. All eyes converged on Eve, as if expecting an acceptance speech.

But as one might expect, Eve’s face was already expressionless. Now she simply gave a faint, “Heh?”

……

The master of awkward silence, as always.

“What do you an by that?”

As expected, Vivian delivered the soul-searching question.

In everyone’s eyes, Eve’s behavior was no different from courting death. It was as if she dared to disrespect the Young Miss to her face and then act as though nothing had happened.

The maids’ eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.

Such an honor should be t with kneeling gratitude, kissing the instep, offering loyalty and freedom alike—yet she responded with a dismissive sound?

Was she truly that bold?

Utterly arrogant and ungrateful!

Did she not even know how to spell the word death?!

In truth, she was a warrior who could not read ( ).

At that mont, this question filled everyone’s mind. Even Head Maid Sylvia discreetly wiped her forehead, her composed smile almost cracking.

Eve: ?

Why is everyone staring at ? Is there a problem?

“Tch…” Vivian frowned and looked at her twice, seemingly thinking sothing over. In the end, she waved her hand helplessly, signaling her to step back.

Gasp—

A collective intake of breath rose and fell like waves, contributing generously to global warming. The maids were stunned.

The Young Miss had no objection?!

Just what background did this Personal Maid have?

In truth, Vivian had more objections than anyone present. She simply had no solution. She was used to it—and too lazy to pursue it further.

She tapped the desk.

“Secondly,” Vivian continued, her voice thick with sarcasm, “I have noticed that certain people seem to have misunderstood their duties.”

“Your job is to serve, not to gossip. You had better weigh carefully what should and should not be said.”

“If I discover anyone challenging authority again—unable to control their rotten mouths…” Vivian rested her chin on one hand, her tone lazy yet saturated with danger. “Heh, I can kindly help you leave Morninglight Manor properly.”

“Do you understand?”

“Understood!” × N

All responded in unison, daring not to voice any objections. Even if they had any, they would only dare whisper behind closed doors.

What happened at noon had already spread among the maids. So were afraid, so sympathetic, so even regretful—regretful they had not witnessed the spectacle firsthand.

The “victim,” the maid Xiao Fei, was still lying in the infirmary. The Young Miss had made no further statent, which ant she might still have a chance to remain at Morninglight Manor.

According to insiders, the reason she had suffered so badly was because she had been caught gossiping about the Young Miss on the spot.

And as rumors passed from one to another, it sohow evolved into the belief that the Young Miss had flown into a rage precisely to defend her Personal Maid.

She had even convened a eting to announce it—treatnt never before seen. Terrifying indeed!

Many now firmly believed that Eve had risen through beauty, and they could not deny that she possessed both the capital and the audacity.

However, not everyone was so invested. For instance, the two green-haired little girls at the edge of the crowd had focused solely on Eve from beginning to end.

Ail smiled and waved, trying to increase her presence, while Ella hooked an arm around her neck from behind and grinned mischievously in Eve’s direction.

Eve noticed them as well. Two lively green figures at the edge of the crowd were difficult to ignore. She rely tilted her head slightly in response.

“That is all I have to say. Dismissed. Return to your duties,” Vivian waved her hand as if shooing away an annoying swarm of flies.

The maids felt as though they had been granted amnesty. They bowed in unison and exited the Study in orderly fashion. Many cast one last deep glance at Eve, their gazes complicated.

Curious how she could be so formidable. Jealous of why she could be so formidable. Confused how she managed it. So even pitied her.

After all, she would have to face a Young Miss who was ruthless in thod and volatile in temper. So even decided to open a wager once back in the dormitories to bet how many days she could endure.

The scattered footsteps gradually faded. Vivian had not intended to watch, but she accidentally glimpsed the person beside her moving toward the door as well.

“Where do you think you are going?!”

Eve was stopped and turned back in confusion. “Did Young Miss not say everyone should leave?”

“Tch… honestly…” Vivian was both exasperated and amused. “You are the exception! Co back here!”

Once Eve resud her position at her side, Vivian puffed out her cheeks and scolded indignantly, “I just announced sothing countless people dream of. So many would kneel in gratitude for this, yet you showed nothing?”

“Not even a thank you… have you never learned basic social conduct?”

Eve slowly produced a question mark. Strictly speaking, she was not even human. Why would she need to understand human etiquette?

“Then shall I make up for it now?” Eve asked.

“No need! I do not care for it!” Vivian snorted and turned her head away, arms folded. “Shut your mouth! Do not bother . I do not want to hear your voice right now!”

Two and a half minutes later…

“Are you staying silent on purpose just to make

feel awkward?!”
