Chapter 33 : You’ve Really Gone Too Far!
Clink—
The sound of a plate being gently placed onto the marble countertop echoed inside the main kitchen of Morninglight Manor. The tall white-haired maid was arranging desserts on plates.
She had bought them on the way back. Eve had not forgotten—she had chosen freshly made tiramisu on her own initiative, and now only needed to cut it into pieces and plate it.
She had also changed into a new maid outfit. As for the old one? Naturally, it had been sold on the secondhand market as “lightly used by a girl, 99% new.”
anwhile, Vivian had gone to the study to continue studying. After skipping an entire morning of lessons, she would be busy for the entire afternoon.
Just as Eve found the dessert knife, she heard a series of footsteps slowly approaching from outside the kitchen. Without turning her head, she glanced sideways.
A small green-haired head peeked around the doorfra, blinking, a tuft of hair sticking straight up. “Oh… it’s Sister Eve~”
It was little Ail. Recognizing Eve, she imdiately took small steps forward, the skirt of her maid outfit swaying happily as she ran over with quick pattering footsteps.
She stopped abruptly right in front of her—
Fortunately, Ail hurriedly waved her arms as if paddling through water, barely preventing herself from falling forward. It was unclear what she was so excited about.
“Slow down. Do not fall,” Eve said lazily, her voice soft and pleasant in her idle state.
“Hehe, Ail will not fall~”
After steadying herself, she leaned closer. Due to her height, she could only grab the counter’s edge with both hands and stand on tiptoe, barely revealing her head.
“Sister Eve, what are you making? Is it dessert?”
“Yes. Where is your sister?”
“Umm… she stepped on flowers planted by the Head Maid and is being punished to stand still.” Ail leaned closer and sniffed the sweet scent. “Ail was bored exploring alone, then found Sister Eve! And dessert!”
Eve looked down at her. The little one stared straight at the tiramisu, almost writing “give
so” across her face.
Unable to resist, Eve paused cutting and freed a hand to firmly pat her head. Ail narrowed her eyes and humd contentedly, like a responsive doll toy.
Vosini encourages childbirth, does it not? Can we just have this one? Why go through labor when picking one up is faster?
Damn… this ahoge is powerful… why will it not go down?
Eve secretly competed with the stubborn tuft of hair. Even though her hand grew stronger while patting, Ail showed no complaint and even leaned into it.
“Tsk?” Eve stared at the stubborn strand, questioning life.
Fine. You win…
She stopped bothering with it and smoothed the ssy hair back into place.
Feeling the large hand leave, Ail lingered in the warmth, then looked up again. “Sister Eve, who is this prepared for?”
“Of course the Young Miss.”
“I see…”
“Do you want to eat it?”
“Yes!” Ail answered instinctively, then shook her head hard. “Umm… it is prepared for the Young Miss. Ail cannot eat it.”
Eve nearly fainted. The child was correct—no, no, she was not obsessed with children. She only found her cute. Nothing else.
After calming herself with a deep breath, she took out another plate. “There is plenty. The Young Miss cannot finish it. I will prepare one for you too?”
“Really?!”
“Yes…”
“Sister Eve is the best~” Ail lightly clapped her hands, almost glowing.
The radiance made Eve unable to open her eyes. It was not sunlight, yet she felt she might combust and collapse any second.
Only then did she notice—aside from the maid outfit, Ail was not wearing pantyhose today but slightly suggestive garter stockings.
What is happening at Morninglight Manor?! They actually let a little girl dress like this—what kind of propriety is this?! Where is humanity? Where is morality?
Where are the knee socks?
Cough… cannot keep looking.
Eve inhaled sharply, contributing to global warming, forcibly shifting her attention and quickly cutting two pieces of tiramisu onto separate plates.
She thoughtfully placed forks, then handed them to the eager green-haired loli approaching her.
“Huh? Why are there two portions?”
Eve bent down and gently pinched her nose. “Do not forget your sister.”
“I see…” Ail pondered for a mont, then her eyes lit up. “Then Ail eats two portions!”
“?”
Your sister is truly fortunate to have you. Is this sharing hardships separately but enjoying blessings alone?
Eve almost lost composure at her logic. Maintaining her image, she twitched her lips. “Should it not be one for you and one for your sister?”
“Are they not all Ail’s?”
“……”
Eve hesitated, then gave up… As long as the child was happy. Even if she ate both, she would simply go buy more if asked.
Then Ail looked at the plates in her hands and back at Eve.
“Sister Eve, can you lower yourself?” she asked softly.
“Hmm? Am I not already lowered?”
“Lower! A little lower!”
Not understanding, Eve complied and leaned further down. Before she could ask—
Ail suddenly stood on tiptoe, her cute face rapidly approaching.
!!!
A feather-like touch landed gently on Eve’s right cheek, fleeting and warm, leaving a faint lingering heat.
Ail’s face flushed red to her ears. “Thank you, Sister Eve~ Goodbye!”
The next second she spun around, carrying both plates, running out of the kitchen as quickly as she ca. Her small legs in garter stockings soon disappeared from sight.
“……”
The kitchen instantly fell silent.
Only Eve remained bent over, frozen in place.
The afternoon sunlight still stread through the window, faint chatter of other maids echoing outside.
After a long while, Eve slowly straightened and raised her hand, fingertips touching the spot that had just been kissed.
Is this normal?
Is this how a person expresses gratitude? But then again…
Ail once lifted her skirt to make a request, so perhaps it was not strange…
Eve gently shook her head, casting away immature thoughts—do not ask what they were. She still had work to do.
Vivian was waiting in the study. She picked up the prepared tiramisu and walked out of the kitchen toward the second floor.
Yet along the way, she could not help touching her cheek again.
“Hiss… what does this even an…”
