Chapter 13: A Proper Ongoing Serialization

While Ella and Ail were still fiercely arguing over which side they belonged to, Eve interrupted them. She cared more about another matter.

“So…” Eve’s gaze swept across the two of them. “What are you doing here? If I am not mistaken, this should be working hours, correct?”

The noise stopped abruptly.

The arrogance on Ella’s face visibly wilted, her eyes darting about, while Ail pressed a finger to her lips and let out a long “Shh…,” her little face full of secrecy.

“Ahem, well…” Ella scratched her cheek. “Today’s… today’s work… um… we finished it early! Yes, finished!”

“Finished~” Ail echoed softly, nodding.

“Then we ca out to inspect the garden!” Ella puffed out her chest. “That is right, inspection! We discovered the big-chested monster! We are very responsible!”

Eve said nothing. She simply looked at them quietly. There was neither suspicion nor approval in those red eyes, yet precisely because of that, the two little ones felt trendous pressure.

Regarding work, the two of them were extrely afraid.

“All right, all right…”

Ella admitted defeat. She leaned close to Eve and lowered her voice. “Actually, we were just slacking off… the dessert work in the kitchen today was too boring, so we slipped out to play for a while… just for a while.”

Ail moved closer and clasped her hands together, two pairs of large eyes gazing pitifully at Eve. “Please~ do not tell Sister Head Maid.”

Ella also clasped her hands. “Please do not tell Head Maid Sylvia! If necessary… we can satisfy you a little?”

As she spoke, she pinched the hem of her skirt and gently lifted it, revealing the upper part of her thigh wrapped in white stockings. The practiced motion made Eve raise an eyebrow.

A repeat offender at first glance. Do not do this sort of thing—did they take her for such a frivolous person?

Seeing no reaction, the little imp Ella added, “If the Head Maid finds out we slipped out during work, she will definitely punish us with standing punishnt!”

“It will be very tiring…” Ail added, her small face scrunched up.

What made Eve even harder to endure was that Ail—the one she had a better impression of—also lifted her skirt slightly, revealing a faint outline beneath. Was she influenced, or was appearance truly deceiving…?

Begging for rcy by revealing the outline—was that not reasonable? (Very questionable)

Looking at the nearly identical bitter expressions on the two faces before her, Eve remained silent.

Reporting them brought her no benefit, and she had not intended to report them anyway. Who knew things would suddenly develop to this extent?

To casually ntion sothing and end up seeing little girls’ outlines—this truly had not been her intention.

Just as she was about to nod simply to indicate she had no interest in interfering—

“Oh? Standing punishnt? That sounds like a fine suggestion.”

A gentle female voice ca from behind them, instantly stiffening Ella and Ail.

The twins froze at the sa ti. Their necks turned back little by little, chanically.

Sylvia had already been standing there, holding a brand-new white porcelain tea set with gold trim and a leather notebook in her arms.

A gentle smile hung on her face. The sunlight slanted across, casting her tall shadow over the rigid twins and completely enveloping them.

“Eek!!!” ×2

Ella and Ail sprang away like startled cats, wanting only to escape that smiling shadow.

“H-Head Maid!”

“Lady Sylvia…”

Ail stood in place, small hands tightly clutching the edge of her apron, while Ella instinctively hid behind Eve.

“The kitchen work was finished early? And you inspected the garden?” Sylvia spoke unhurriedly, the smile on her face growing warr.

The pressure answered for them.

“How dedicated you both are. It seems the workload I assigned before was still too light, leaving you enough energy for additional inspections?”

“N-No! We know we were wrong!” Ella hurriedly stepped out and bowed imdiately.

“We truly know we were wrong~” Ail also bowed deeply, her light green hair falling forward.

But Sylvia did not accept it. Her voice remained gentle. “Since you are so diligent, before dinner today, go wipe every vase in the eastern corridor once.”

“Rember, they must be clean, understood? I will personally inspect them.”

The twins instantly deflated. Not daring to argue, they could only reply weakly, “We understand… Head Maid…”

“Now imdiately return to your original posts in the kitchen. If I discover further idling, I believe… the picture fras in the western corridor also greatly require your diligence.”

“Yes!” ×2

The two shot away like pale green cannonballs, dashing out of the pavilion and vanishing at the end of the rose bushes in the blink of an eye.

Silence returned to the pavilion, leaving only the breeze, the floral fragrance, and the sound of the fountain.

Only then did Sylvia set down what she was carrying, gently placing the tea set and notebook on the white artistic tea table. She looked at Eve with slight helplessness.

“I must apologize for the spectacle, Eve. Those twins are the manor’s source of cheer, though sowhat overly lively. They always require special attention.”

She sat in the rocking chair opposite Eve. “However, their nature is not bad, and their work ability is actually quite good, especially when they cooperate. They only need occasional discipline.”

Eve nodded to show understanding but did not express an opinion.

Did she think Eve was not nervous? If those two had not lowered their skirts in ti—and with the viewing angle blocked—the Head Maid would have seen sothing inappropriate.

If she had… and mistaken her for a deviant threatening little girls, everything would certainly have been ruined.

“All right, the interruption is over,” Sylvia clapped her hands. “Let us begin. As a personal maid—especially the Young Miss’s personal maid—you must master many skills, and the requirents are very high.”

“Starting today, we will begin with the basics. Ti is limited, and afterward you will learn through practice. Eve, do you understand?”

As she spoke, she pushed the thick notebook toward Eve. “These are my notes. I am passing them to you. They include the Young Miss’s daily habits, frequently visited areas, and daily schedule. You must morize them.”

After receiving it, Eve casually opened a page. The handwriting inside was neat; she scanned a few lines quickly.

As a personal maid, she must not only respond to ordinary service duties but also satisfy any need of the Young Miss. Because she stayed at the Young Miss’s side as an important role, her status would also rise.

Correspondingly, the bearing she must maintain would be higher as well.

“Wait,” Eve raised her head and asked, “this satisfying desires refers to…?”
