"Are you Chen Qing?"
The White Tiger Star Officer curiously sized up the man in front of her.
She did not hold a high position in the Heavenly Palace, when Heaven’s Court Divine Generals were using the Divine Mirror to watch the intense battle below, she was far away, excluded from the opportunity to observe. By the ti she joined Heaven’s Court after the first battle, Chen Qing’s faction had already been completely suppressed without leaving a trace....
"I am Chen Qing..." Chen Qing replied with a smile.
"How did you find us?" The White Tiger Star Officer asked curiously.
"Under the Divine Path Sect, as long as soone has faith in , I can use Divine Arts to know their location. When he was targeted and taken by you, I arrived imdiately."
Imdiately...
Shen Yuan was slightly startled. He had heard that Chen Qing was not in a good state; during the confrontation in Lyuzhou, his opponent was a significant figure who seed to have used so Taboo Power, resulting in Chen Qing recuperating in Lyuzhou thereafter. Now, unexpectedly, Chen Qing personally ca here for him.
He rembered that the first ti they t, both were ready to draw swords; he was resentful that this guy had run into good luck, taking his position as Governor of Liuzhou, and was quite disdainful of him. Yet he never thought one day... the other party would risk himself for him.
"Master... you... why did you co alone?"
"I ca to have a look first..." Chen Qing smiled slightly and said: "If the situation is unfavorable, with my ability, I can at least help you escape. I fear others couldn’t do that."
Shen Yuan slightly bowed, his mouth unknowingly curved upwards.
He had always wanted to be valued since childhood, and in fact, Chen Qing was probably the first person to value him...
The White Tiger Star Officer silently watched Chen Qing. She actually still had an opportunity; if she could kill Chen Qing, it would be a great achievent for Heaven’s Court. Even the Heavenly Emperor wouldn’t continue to bla her no matter how shaless he was.
But she wasn’t confident. Soone powerful enough to defeat the Past Buddha, who was rumored to possess the Sword Dao Fruit, and now the Heavenly Emperor’s Spiritual Energy hadn’t yet peaked, just reaching King Level, probably even the Three-Eyed God General didn’t have full assurance.
"Are you still hesitating?" Chen Qing, however, seed to see through her thoughts at a glance.
Shen Yuan felt conflicted; he feared Chen Qing would take action against the White Tiger, but he also feared the White Tiger would attack Chen Qing.
Being caught in between, he finally understood what it felt like.
"Do you think I should hesitate?" The White Tiger suddenly looked up and asked, her expression filled with killing intent, yet this question was genuinely earnest.
"That fellow Elder Long... has a fondness for Han Chinese culture..." Chen Qing reminisced about the days dealing with Elder Long: "Back then the situation in Heaven’s Court was special, he was always reluctant to introduce foreign demons. In his heart, he always believed that those who are not of our race are necessarily different at heart; of course, this attitude is narrowed down to favoring his kin above others."
"Upon closer inspection, one can see that all key positions in Heaven’s Court were in the hands of his staunch allies or family mbers from those days. What talent does the Three-Eyed God General have? Yet his stature can only be on par with the Four Great Outer Elders, can’t even mix in as one of the Five Heavenly Emperors, still working under Ziwei; if the Three-Eyed wasn’t utterly loyal, he would have sought greener pastures long ago."
The White Tiger had nothing to argue against this. Look at the Victorious Fighting Buddha; what treatnt did he get over at the Buddha Kingdom? A legitimate Buddha, ranking only below the Past, Future, and Present Buddhas, while none of Old Liu’s children’s status could surpass him. And now, with the Three Buddhas becoming one, the Victorious Fighting Buddha is practically just under one person...
"In that old man’s eyes, the most trusted are always relatives, followed by subordinates of yore, and lastly, local players. As for you..." Chen Qing sneered: "No matter how great your achievents, in his eyes, you’re just an alien. The more powerful you beco, the more he fears you. You’ll never survive under his rule."
"Is that so?" The White Tiger lowered her head for a mont, then looked up at Chen Qing: "Why do you not see us as aliens then?"
She was aware of the existence of Digital City and most likely understood what locals like her were to them. Thus, she was quite curious why Chen Qing trusted Wang Ye, a native, to visit Digital City.
"Because I’m an orthodox researcher..." Chen Qing sighed: "I never believed in that plan from the start; it was rely a group of old immortals fixated on the delusion of Longevity. In reality, the mories transmitted the data are just data; how could it possibly be the original self?"
"From the mont they beca data life forms, they were already dead. Since the Third World War when everyone beca data life, we...and you are essentially the sa thing; where is there still humanity in this world? Humanity..." Chen Qing stared into the sky, his eyes filled with endless compassion: "Perished long ago at the hands of those ambitious ones."
The White Tiger was stunned, observing the aura of grief surrounding Chen Qing, montarily lost for words. She could sense that this man in front of her was truly sorrowful; such words were hard to refute as false.
"In my view, there’s no difference between the people here and us, we’re all just heaps of data; it’s only because artificial intelligence has beco so advanced that we appear to have human-like consciousness and emotions, hence all sorts of struggles. Since we’re alike, since we all want to survive, why can’t we cooperate?"
"Those things up there are inherently destructive." Chen Qing pointed at Outer Space: "They are programd as deadly enemies; to survive, we must let those with good talents obtain more resources, hold greater power, so everyone can survive. That’s the only way, the only thod to live on, whether people from Digital City or so-called natives here, sticking together is better than harming each other."
"I see..." The White Tiger earnestly looked at Chen Qing. She once made efforts to understand the other world, always striving to know why she couldn’t fit into that circle. After understanding, she fell into despair for a ti, realizing she and her kind were just a heap of data in their eyes; how could they ever truly see her as a person?
But if Chen Qing has such ideas, then it seems different.
Chen Qing’s eyes were also complex at this mont; many people asked why he had insisted on destroying this world and why his attitude had completely changed now.
That’s because he failed back then; although he had already beco a data life form, in his eyes, his forr kin were far more important, at least more important than data. Thus, he decisively broke with Pu YunChuan.
But now, it’s different; his failure back then had led to the current situation where there is no true humanity left. Back then he couldn’t protect anything, not his mother, friends, or many others.
Now, although those around him are data, they truly are people who an a lot to him.
This ti, he must protect these people and never let those old immortals...destroy everything he cherishes again!
