Shimizu-san and the Training Camp Plan

“When will Ai and Yousuke finally get here?”

Shimizu-san had an unusually sullen expression on her face.

One day about a week after the stargazing event, Seto-san, Shimizu-san, and I were gathered in the Astronomy Club room after school, having been asked to et there by Ai-san in advance.

“The student council work is keeping them, so they said they’d be a bit late.”

Seto-san imdiately answered Shimizu-san’s question.

“But what’s the purpose of gathering us today anyway? The stargazing event is over, and it’s not like we have anything else to do for a while.”

That’s true. As Shimizu-san said, the stargazing event had successfully concluded, and there shouldn’t be any major events for the Astronomy Club.

I wonder what Ai-san has in mind for calling us today.

“I don’t know what Ai-senpai is planning, but the fact that she’s gathered us ans she must be intending to do sothing with the entire Astronomy Club again.”

“…What does she plan to do this ti?”

Shimizu-san sighed.

As I stared at her, our eyes t.

“What is it?”

“Nothing, I was just thinking that the sumr uniform looks good on you.”

“Wha?!”

Shimizu-san’s eyes widened in surprise.

The words had slipped out unintentionally, but they weren’t a lie.

Shimizu-san in her shirt after changing out of her winter clothes gave a cooler impression than before.

“D-Don’t just say things like that out of nowhere…”

At that mont, the clubroom door burst open.

“Hey, is everyone here?”

The energetic voice belonged to Ai-san, the vice president of our high school’s student council.

“Sorry for being late. I was held up by student council work.”

Yousuke-san, the current student council president, entered the clubroom shortly after.

“You’ve finally arrived. So, what’s the reason for calling the entire Astronomy Club mber together?”

“Hehehe, calm down, my dear little sister.”

“Don’t talk like I’m all excited. Just get to the point.”

“Kei, you’re so cold! Alright, I’ll tell you why I’ve gathered everyone here!”

“By the way, even I haven’t been told what Ai wants to do this ti.”

If even Yousuke-san was kept in the dark, then the only person who knew about this plan would be Ai-san.

What could Ai-san be planning?

Ai-san moved in front of the whiteboard and began writing with a pen.

The word ‘Training Camp’ was written boldly on the board.

“What I want us all to do this ti is a training camp!”

“A training camp?”

The proposal was so unexpected that I blurted out what I was thinking.

“Yes! An Astronomy Club sumr vacation training camp! Yay!”

Ai-san clapped her hands cheerfully, but the rest of us in the Astronomy Club were not yet able to match her enthusiasm.

“Huh? Quiet response? Why is that?”

“Of course because it’s confusing to be suddenly told to go on a training camp without knowing the purpose.”

Shimizu-san voiced the thoughts I had in mind.

“I see, I understand. Well then, let tell you a reason that will bring tears to your eyes.”

“It’s definitely not going to be sothing to cry about… Just get to the point and explain it briefly.”

“Okay! Well, the reason is simple. Yousuke and I are going to retire from the Astronomy Club after the second term, right? So before that, we want to create mories with everyone! We want to go to the beach, enjoy the sumr festival, visit the food stalls, and fill our last high school sumr vacation with sparkling mories!”

After Ai-san finished speaking, silence once again fell upon the clubroom.

Everyone seed to be pondering over Ai-san’s words.

“That actually doesn’t sound bad.”

Yousuke-san was the first to speak after hearing the reason.

“Yousuke!”

Ai-san’s face brightened instantly.

“There might be problems, but it does sound fun. Besides, you never listen to anyone else once you start on sothing.”

“Hehehe, I knew you’d understand , Yousuke-san.”

“Don’t co closer with your arms spread out like that.”

“Hey, Ai.”

“What is it, my sister?”

Ai-san stopped moving towards Yousuke-san and turned to face Shimizu-san.

“How do you plan to cover the travel expenses?”

“Travel expenses?”

“Don’t react like you’ve never heard that word before. If it’s a camp for fun, we can’t exactly ask our parents for money. How do you plan to co up with the funds for the trip?”

Indeed, if the purpose is for leisure, it might be difficult to receive travel expenses from parents.

“That’s sothing I’ve been wondering about too. What’s your plan?”

“Well, that is…”

“Don’t tell you hadn’t thought that far ahead.”

Shimizu-san looked at her suspiciously.

“Uhh, maybe we could get it covered by the school as a club activity expense…”

“That’s unlikely.”

“Why!?”

“If the main purpose of the camp was astronomical observation or sothing, then maybe, but if it’s just to enjoy the beach and sumr festivals, it’s unlikely the school will allocate a budget for that. Besides, the Astronomy Club hasn’t been established for long, so even if it were a legitimate training camp, it’s hard to say whether we’d get funding.”

“Grrr…”

Ai-san looked visibly frustrated.

Being a mber of the student council, she probably knew about it but still didn’t want to accept it.

“Then Yousuke and I will work hard and earn the money ourselves!”

“Don’t drag into this as if it was natural. It’s simply not realistic for the two of us to earn enough money for five people’s travel expenses by sumr vacation.”

“Ugh…”

“On top of that, Ai, both you and Yousuke have student council duties and entrance exam studies, so there’s no way you can work enough hours for that.”

“Guhh!”

Perhaps overwheld by the ntal blow, Ai-san collapsed in slow motion.

“Are you okay?”

“Ai-senpai, are you alright?”

Ai-san slowly stood up as she heard Seto-san and my voice.

“Thank you for your concern, Daiki-kun, Mio-chan… And as for Kei, don’t you have any kindness for your Onee-chan!”

“No way.”

“Imdiate response!?”

“I’m not saying anything wrong. It’s a fact that both you and Yousuke are short on ti.”

“Sound argunts can sotis beco weapons that hurt people. To think my perfect plan would fall apart here…”

“What part of this crude plan was perfect?”

“Yousuke~, Kei is bullying ~”

Ai-san threw herself into Yousuke-san’s arms. Yousuke-san staggered for a mont but sohow managed to catch Ai-san.

“Don’t suddenly hug in public like this! And as Kei said, unless we figure out the travel expenses, the training camp plan can’t move forward.”

“But, but…”

Ai-san looked as shocked as a child who had just been told they wouldn’t get a visit from Santa for being naughty.

“Ugh, but I want to go. I want to go to the training camp with everyone, so please.”

While burying her face in Yousuke-san’s chest, Ai-san occasionally glanced over at us with pleading eyes.

“Don’t try to get your way by pretending to cry.”

“Even if there are no actual tears coming from my eyes, my heart is crying!”

“Alright, alright, let go of now.”

“Hmph…”

Reluctantly, Ai-san let go of Yousuke-san.
