Yang Feiyue knew that it was Lin Xun who had first recomnded Wangchuan to join the Yulong Gang.

To Wangchuan, Lin Xun was his guide and benefactor. The bond between them was no secret.

For that very reason, Wangchuan’s recomndation that Lin Xun take over the position of Hall Master of Huishui County gave Yang Feiyue a faint sense of concern.

If it were purely a matter of personal sentint, that would not do.

Wangchuan explained calmly.

“First.”

“The Gang Leader once said that from now on, the positions of helm leader, hall master, and elder in the Yulong Gang must be held by First-Rank martial artists. In my hall, there is simply no suitable candidate. Bai Yuhui and the others have only just advanced to full-fledged martial artists. They are not yet qualified to preside over a hall.”

“Yes, I did say that. Ha ha ha…”

Yang Feiyue was reminded and burst into laughter.

“In that case, you truly can only choose from among the old hands within the gang…”

“Gang Leader, you see clearly.”

Wangchuan continued, laying out his reasoning.

“The Gang Leader is familiar with Elder Lin’s strength and character. We all are. He is steady and responsible. He currently serves as helm leader of Rongcheng County and already has experience managing dock affairs under a hall. I believe he will quickly adapt to presiding over a hall himself.”

“Moreover… Bai Yuhui and Hong Kaibao originally followed this subordinate out of Blackstone Village. They are acquainted with Elder Lin. They will cooperate more smoothly and there will be no friction.”

“…Mhm, that makes sense.”

“Very well. We shall follow your suggestion. Once you depart for Sanhe Commandery to assu your new post, Elder Lin Xun will take over as Hall Master of Huishui County.”

Yang Feiyue agreed.

Wangchuan let out a quiet breath of relief.

“Thank you, Gang Leader, for granting this.”

“There is still so ti before you take up your post in the Caobang. During this period, focus on cultivation and strive to break through to Second Rank. It will make matters easier to arrange on that side.”

“Yes! This subordinate will devote himself to training and do his utmost to break through to Second Rank, so as not to bring sha upon the Gang Leader.”

After speaking, Wangchuan took his leave, bringing the manuals with him and departing Heilong County to return to his own territory.

What he did not know was that after he left the hall, a man in black appeared in Yang Feiyue’s chamber.

Yang Feiyue imdiately rose respectfully and bowed his head before Old Seven.

“Seventh Master.”

“I have conveyed everything that needed to be said.”

“Wangchuan will remain in the Yulong Gang for another month. After that, he will head to the commandery seat. I hope that when the ti cos, Seventh Master will speak favorably of him and extend so care to this talent of our Yulong Gang.”

Yang Feiyue lowered his posture significantly.

He knew that the man before him was a Third-Rank martial artist—the shadow who handled the dirty work for Hall Master Yin.

Old Seven’s face was covered, but his eyes were deep and sharp as he fixed them on Yang Feiyue.

“The rift between your Yulong Gang and the Beggar Sect is widening. The Hall Master’s intention is for

to ensure your safety and prevent any disruption to your operations. You may now move freely against the Beggar Sect disciples in Heilong County.”

“Move freely…”

Yang Feiyue’s expression tightened for a mont, then he nodded imdiately.

“I understand. Since it is the Hall Master’s will, this subordinate will carry it out without fail. I will drive every Beggar Sect disciple out of Heilong County.”

He had nearly lost his life to the Beggar Sect’s branch master. Taking action against their disciples now was only natural.

With Old Seven, a Third-Rank martial artist, watching over him, he need not fear further retaliation from the Beggar Sect.

Upon returning to Huishui County, Wangchuan imdiately logged out and contacted Lin Xun, informing him that he had recomnded him for the position of Hall Master of Huishui County.

Lin Xun was currently overwheld by the ss in Rongcheng County. Upon hearing the news, he felt as though a pie had fallen from the sky and struck him. He could hardly believe it.

“Why?”

“If I take your position, where are you going?”

“I am going to the Caobang. I will leave after so ti.”

Wangchuan did not elaborate further. “But before that, I will take all the revenue from Huishui County with . Over there, there will certainly be expenses for making arrangents.”

“No problem! Huishui County is such a rich piece of at. Which elder or hall master in the gang is not eyeing it? Brother, you are generous. Nothing more needs to be said!”

Lin Xun was grinning from ear to ear.

“Congratulations in advance, Hall Master Lin.”

“And congratulations to you on your promotion! Once you reach the commandery seat, you will be one step closer to Captain Bai. You are bound to soar in the future. Perhaps I will have to rely on you, a Caobang big shot, to lift

up soday!”

The two chatted for quite so ti before exchanging farewells and ending the call.

Wangchuan then contacted Bai Yuhui and Hong Kaibao, asking them to co to his room to discuss matters.

The two only knew that the Gang Leader had been attacked and that Wangchuan had taken Physician Liao to tend to him. They had no idea that Wangchuan had already gone to the commandery seat and returned, nor that sweeping changes were about to occur in the hall.

Seeing Wangchuan’s solemn expression, they grew nervous.

“Hall Master.”

“What has happened?”

“After so ti, I will be leaving the Yulong Gang to work at the Caobang hall in the commandery seat. I am informing you in advance so that you can prepare. At the sa ti, I wish to ask what your plans are.”

The two were stunned, exchanging glances as the news struck them without warning.

Wangchuan continued, “In the future, the hall will be under Elder Lin Xun. We are all from the sa studio. He will look after you. I will take Chen Ergou and Zhao Heiniu with . On the dock side, there will be a vacant position for the dock branch helm leader, as well as a vacancy for the head of the Qingfeng Escort Agency.”

His gaze swept across their faces.

“My intention is that you two could take over the dock branch and the escort agency, respectively.”

He had always taken good care of Bai Yuhui and Hong Kaibao.

They had rotated duties faithfully and saved him considerable effort. Before leaving, he intended to arrange matters properly for them.

“These two positions carry so benefits. Each month, you can earn ten taels of gold. That will more than suffice to support your push toward Second Rank.”

The two exchanged thoughtful looks.

After a while, Bai Yuhui spoke.

“Hall Master, if you are going to the Caobang… could you take us with you?”

“We do not need titles or positions. We will follow you.”

Hong Kaibao’s eyes lit up, his resolve firming instantly.

“Yes!”

“We will follow Senior Brother! Wherever you go, we go. Once we are there, we will surely be of use.”

Wangchuan was taken aback.

He had not expected them to wish to follow him.

“Is it not better to remain in the Yulong Gang? It is stable here and relatively safer. Over at the Caobang, I still do not know what position I will receive…”

“We do not care. As long as we follow Senior Brother, we feel at ease,” Bai Yuhui declared firmly. “We can look after one another. Perhaps in the Caobang, in the commandery seat, we can carve out a place for ourselves.”

“Yes! When the three of us are united, we can cut through iron together!”

Hong Kaibao’s eyes shone with fervor, his fighting spirit surging.
