The night was as cool as water.

It was already late winter, and a person’s breath would turn into white mist.

Concubine Xian and Concubine i were both about to give birth. During this ti, the Empress had never paid attention to them, and they finally felt at ease. It seed the Empress still didn’t dare to harm the imperial offspring. After all, the Emperor at his age still had no heirs. The imperial offspring they carried was so precious that if the Empress made a move, the Emperor would surely punish her severely, and she wouldn’t be able to keep her position.

That night, just as Concubine Xian was about to undress for bed with the help of her personal palace maid, urgent footsteps sounded outside the palace gates.

There was no knocking, but rather the door was forcefully pushed open.

Standing at the door was the Empress’s Chief Palace Maid, a maid nad Kong Hou.

"Concubine Xian, put on your cloak and co with imdiately to the Empress’s Zhaoyang Palace," Kong Hou said coldly, "Hurry up." Ah, how troubleso. Sotis imrsive tasks require following procedures, no matter how small the matters or details, you must go step by step.

"What do you want to do?" Concubine Xian looked at Kong Hou’s icy face, her body felt as if it was in an ice cellar at that mont, and she shook her head, "No, I won’t go." Was the Empress finally going to make a move? Had the Empress been holding back for this final mont? To let the mother die and keep the child? The Empress was so calculating, such a ruthless heart!

"Hurry. It will soon be too late." Kong Hou urged impatiently.

"Auntie Kong Hou, the Empress said to be gentle, Concubine Xian is about to give birth," a palace maid beside Kong Hou softly reminded her timidly.

"Tsk, troubleso. Hurry up. If I wanted to harm you, I would have done it already. Co on, the rebels have broken in." Kong Hou recalled Tianmiao’s instructions before leaving and softened her tone, "Prince Ten has rebelled, taking advantage of the Emperor’s personal campaign, and has broken into the palace. If you want to survive, follow quickly."

Concubine Xian was stunned, looking at Kong Hou suspiciously. Could this be true?

At that mont, the sound of weapons clashing and noisy voices could be heard from a distance.

Concubine Xian’s face changed dramatically.

The palace maid beside Kong Hou gently urged, "Concubine Xian, please hurry. The rebels will be here soon. The Empress has not only sent for you but for all the concubines."

Concubine Xian hesitated for a mont, "Then, let’s go."

"Quick, follow . Help Concubine Xian onto the soft sedan, it’s ready outside." Kong Hou turned and looked into the distance, "Hurry up. This palace is the closest to the Emperor’s quarters. The rebels will arrive here first."

Concubine Xian, assisted by the palace attendants, sat on the soft sedan that Kong Hou had prepared. Four eunuchs carried the sedan quickly, following Kong Hou, with Concubine Xian’s palace maids and eunuchs running behind. Concubine Xian was filled with both fear and uncertainty about the future. Had the rebels really broken in? Was the Empress really kind enough to save her? Would she take this opportunity to get rid of her, letting her die at the hands of the rebels?

Concubine Xian lifted the curtain of the sedan and looked outside, seeing a group of guards waving their weapons fiercely, charging towards her.

"Quick, capture Concubine Xian alive, there will be a great reward," a voice shouted loudly.

Concubine Xian’s heart filled with despair, her suspicions confird, the Empress truly wanted to take this chance to eliminate her. Concubine Xian’s hand lay on her swollen belly, tears slipped down her cheeks. Poor child, hadn’t even seen this world yet and it was about to end.

Just as Concubine Xian was in despair, she heard a voice of impatient complaint from Kong Hou in front.

"They ca quickly indeed. Tch! re mortals dare block my path."

The next mont, Concubine Xian witnessed a scene she would rember for a lifeti.
