Chapter 652: Chapter 37: Let
Take You Ho
Zhou Qiang heard the answer, his expression beca complex. He stopped talking and turned his face away.
Seeing Que Qiu’s actions, just as Professor Wu was about to voice his questions, Que Qiu had already walked in on his own.
"Follow him!" Professor Wu quickly ordered.
Upon entering this door, the actual tomb structure was revealed. The antechamber had many small rooms separated out, and burial goods were piled up like mountains. A multitude of brightly colored murals were displayed, capturing everyone’s attention with their splendor. This tomb would surely astonish the world, as they were currently only in the forefront burial area, with more valuable items deeper inside.
In the southeast corner, there was a dual burial pit, filled with many bones, both human and animal, discarded together as one.
Professor Wu looked obsessively at the murals with his flashlight, exclaiming repeatedly, "It really is the Che King’s Tomb. Look, the mural depicts a golden-haired King, and of all the Monarchs in the Irel Kingdom, only Che King had golden hair!"
The exploration team marveled as they proceeded further in, while Professor Wu was too preoccupied to notice Que Qiu’s direction.
Every artifact here would be a rare treasure. This is a blank spot in archaeological history, soon to be filled with the data they bring back, undoubtedly a massive achievent.
After walking through another stone passage, everything abruptly ca to a stop, as if cut off in the desert’s end. To everyone’s surprise, beneath the desert, there was a fractured highland, a cliff.
The abyss, bottomless, blocked everyone’s path. Flashlights revealed that perhaps the tomb chamber was constructed only to this point.
"Impossible, how could a King’s tomb have only an anteroom and a burial hall without the placent for the sarcophagus?"
Yet clearly, no one could explain this odd phenonon.
"Is it possible this is a dual-layer burial structure? Buried goods above, main coffin chamber below?" Cheng Luo was the first to suggest the idea.
"It’s possible, we should investigate further!" Professor Wu appreciatively patted Cheng Luo’s shoulder. "Well done, good way of thinking."
As everyone planned to return, Zhou Qiang, who had been following all along, suddenly pushed aside the assistant Xiao Wang in front, muttering strange words, rushing towards Professor Wu.
"Zhou Qiang!" Professor Wu shouted.
But Zhou Qiang ignored him completely, the strange noises from his mouth grew louder. Then he leapt straight off the cliff.
"Zhou Qiang!!" Professor Wu shouted from the edge of the cliff, and everyone gathered around.
Since his return after the last disappearance, everyone thought Zhou Qiang had returned to normal, but he unexpectedly jumped right off the cliff!
After a long ti, a dull sound of a heavy object falling resounded in the darkness of the cliff. Amidst the chaos, the assistant supported Professor Wu, who could barely walk, slowly returning to the ancillaries’ area where they first began.
"How could this happen... how could he... just like that, a life disappears! How can I explain this when we return?" Professor Wu lanted, clutching his head, seeming deeply shaken.
"What about everyone else? Where are the others?"
Professor Wu turned around, finding that only the assistant remained beside him, the others had vanished.
The tomb chamber remained unchanged, as they first found it, only the stone door at the entrance had, without their knowing, closed.
