At the center was a control panel and monitor, while a sleeping bag bed occupied one corner, and a sowhat scattered weapons rack and ammunition boxes occupied another.

Apart from that, there were chanical repair tools and oil in abundance; one could say this place entirely t Gary’s living requirents.

However, there was no bathroom, no shower, and no kitchen. Jiang Shu didn’t know how Gary managed his other needs.

Gary walked to the corner, where he took out two portable folding chairs and tossed them towards Jiang Shu. The camp chairs hit the ground, and their intricate chanical structures promptly sprang up, separating and transforming into a chair.

"Sit." Rift motioned to Jiang Shu with a nod, and then he removed his mask, tossing it casually toward a coat rack where the empty eye sockets of the mask neatly hooked onto a peg.

Jiang Shu looked at the face of the man before him and was inwardly startled.

The current Gary was completely different from before; his face was gaunter, marked by strong lines, and his eyes seed exceptionally sharp.

But the most terrifying change was that Gary no longer had a mouth.

His lips were gone, as were the flesh and skin near the teeth on the lower half of his face, making the jaw seem as though it was directly connected to the root canal below the teeth. If one only looked at the lower half of the face beneath the nose, it resembled a skull partially covered with flesh.

When silent, Gary always clenched his teeth, the muscles of his entire face taut, creating the impression of an extrely angry expression.

However, after so thought, Jiang Shu understood that he was enduring so sort of pain.

"Why did you bring here?" asked Jiang Shu, posing the first question, "What has happened during this ti?"

"A lot has happened." Gary’s entire dental arch was exposed as he spoke, his teeth moving slightly, with the sound originating from his throat.

However, his throat had been damaged by an explosion, so half of it was flesh, and the other half was chanical, which explained the electronic modulation in his voice.

Gary activated his control panel and began displaying various docunts on the monitor, speaking in a lowered voice, "These are the people I’ve killed in this period, twenty-three in total."

"After my second injury, I lost almost all of my limbs and organs. My continued survival relies entirely on the hospital’s prosthetic technology," Gary said slowly. He clicked on the first docunt, which showed a middle-aged man with a potbelly, his face adorned with a greasy, benign smile.

He continued, "The police departnt’s upper echelons assigned to the latest Seks Group prosthetic model, the civilian version. I’ve seen it; it’s a fine prosthetic. Just a right arm and a wheelchair would be enough to support my life."

"But when it was delivered to , it was just a Desert Civil Type One, a model that ceased production years ago." Gary went on slowly, pointing to the middle-aged man in the docunt, "He took what was mine, so I killed him. Tell , did I do wrong?"

"No, you didn’t." Jiang Shu shook his head, "If it were , I would’ve made the sa choice."

"I know," said Gary, suddenly laughing although his skin didn’t move with the laughter; from his throat ca a dry, leaf-crackling chuckle, "You wouldn’t be kinder than . On the contrary, you might torture him to death."

"Maybe," Jiang Shu responded casually, but suddenly, he too laughed, though his smile lacked any warmth as he solemnly continued,

"Letting a thoroughly corrupt person die easily ans the fear and oppression they left among ordinary people won’t disappear. Only by publicly trampling on all his dignity during his lifeti, smashing all his arrogance, causing him to panic, forcing him to kneel and beg for rcy, making him grovel and display an array of humiliating behaviors, can we shatter the fear and shadows he cast while committing cris, and only then can we comfort the souls of those he wounded."

This speech left Gary slightly stunned; he gave a subdued chuckle through his nose, as if unable to hold back, "I wouldn’t have guessed you thought this way, you’re more..."

He paused, unable to find the right word on the spur of the mont.

"Extre?" Jiang Shu supplied Gary’s words for him, but he didn’t outright agree; he just shrugged and added, "But even doing as I say would not restore one ten-thousandth of the victims’ damage, would it?"

Gary also nodded in silence, his brow slightly furrowed as he stood to one side, while Jiang Shu had already begun to open the docunts one by one, slowly going through them.

Aside from recording the criminals’ actions, these docunts detailed their manner of death and photos, including so violent and bloody scenes.

Yet Jiang Shu flipped through them with an unchanged expression, his face devoid of any alteration.

Considering Jiang Shu’s recent comnts, Gary sank into a kind of confusion.

The direction of developnts seed off.

He’d brought Jiang Shu here to gain so validation. Having been pursued by the police force for so ti now, including by the Police Chief Tang Hexun, whom he had always respected, as well as his colleagues at the police departnt, he felt a rift forming in his mind.

Even though he had long decided to go his separate way and sever all ties with his past societal relationships, the sight of those familiar faces still brought about a sense of disorientation.
