"District Lockdown..." Jiang Shu repeated Wolf’s words, then asked again, "What then?"
"The Terrorism Control Bureau and Thirteen District Police Station are carrying out a mass arrest. Catching so brainless inmates and mutants is pretty easy since they have positioning devices implanted in their bodies that record their locations," Wolf continued, "But most of the B-level and A-level prisoners have used various ans to remove the positioning devices and have just disappeared within Thirteen District."
"Hmm..." Jiang Shu had anticipated this situation. Having spent ti in the Special Prison, he was well aware of the state of affairs inside.
No B-level prisoner was a fool; each had their own area of expertise and obsessive pursuits.
Moreover, after Clo aggressively promoted the "Knowledge Exchange Program," these people beca well-rounded talents, even if they did not actively seek to learn, simply by being imrsed in the environnt.
What’s more, for most B-level prisoners, life in the Special Prison had no appeal, and the only entertaining aspect was perhaps learning new knowledge and integrating it with what they already knew.
So, under these circumstances, just how terrifying could these escaped B-level prisoners be?
"The situation in Thirteen District is a bit chaotic now. Not just those prisoners and mutants, so local cri syndicates are also starting to stir trouble," Wolf sighed.
"Uh... Why are you telling this? I’m super weak." Jiang Shu had a bad feeling, but it wasn’t clear-cut.
"No reason, just letting you know. Also, I might be away for a while. I need to lead a team to Thirteen District to assist with the arrests," Wolf said gravely, "Take care of yourself."
"Okay." Jiang Shu breathed a sigh of relief. He thought of Tang and then asked, "What about Tang?"
"He won’t deal with anything else until he’s finished handling the Deception Group’s affairs," Wolf responded, "During this ti, try to assist him if you can, but..." His tone shifted, and he added in a slightly softer voice, "But if you’re unwilling, it’s no issue, since you’re not his subordinate. It’s better to wait until I get back, and then, with the assistance of the two of us, finally capture the Deception Group..."
"Uh, got it." Jiang Shu nodded and laughed, "Then you also be careful."
"Yeah, I’ll let you know once I arrive," Wolf said in farewell, "We can only hope the higher-ups can stabilize the situation in Thirteen District soon, otherwise, it’s really going to be troubleso."
"They will," Jiang Shu agreed, and then he heard Wolf hastily hang up the phone.
From the noise on the other side, it seed like they were ready to deploy.
Gathering a team in the middle of the night to head to Thirteen District indicated that the situation was indeed serious; at least, the local forces of Thirteen District were no longer able to control the situation.
Thirteen District was also in chaos, and the sa turbulent winds blew through First District and Second District; Lonely City was truly not peaceful during this ti.
"Sigh." Jiang Shu exhaled, opening up the loud and buzzing stream of videos, casually browsing through the hot topics of the night.
The top ten trending topics were all related to the events in Thirteen District.
The Special Prison was bombed, inmates and mutants escaped, Thirteen District was locked down, and the warden was arrested for illegal research...
And all of this had happened yesterday, only to be fully exposed tonight due to the lockdown of the large district, igniting a firestorm across Lonely City.
In just two days, Thirteen District had beco a realm of chaos. By comparison, his Magic Performance did not appear in the top ten trending searches for the first ti but dropped to well beyond the twenties and thirties.
Jiang Shu was rely scrolling down through the videos, understanding the ins and outs of the entire event.
Last night, a special squad had attacked the Special Prison, carrying a large number of specially made incendiary weapons and cutting off the prison’s external network connections, allowing them to smoothly conquer the Special Prison.
But that was it.
As if having no other ulterior motive, the squad seed to only want to lock all the prison guards in cells and release all the inmates.
Most of the inmates took advantage of the chaos created by the mutants in Thirteen District to infiltrate the city districts, and only when dealing with the mutant crisis did the slow-reacting Terrorism Control Bureau realize sothing was amiss.
Where did all these mutants co from?
The Bureau followed the clues to discover they had escaped from the Special Prison, along with a plethora of high-risk inmates.
This ti the upper echelons did not consider suppressing the incident. The level of rioting and instability could not be resolved by simply withholding information; it was necessary to swiftly lock down Thirteen District to prevent further spread.
But aside from that, no more news ca out of Thirteen District; everyone inside was restricted from accessing the Lonely City network and could only connect to the district’s internal network.
For a ti, bizarre rumors abounded, causing panic to spread through the channels of the web within Lonely City.
Jiang Shu’s fingers glided over the Simulated Light Screen, flipping through ssages spreading from various channels.
Many of these involved mutants and special criminals, accompanied by all sorts of real and grueso images, effectively stirring the deep-seated fears within people.
The mutants were mostly humanoid and not particularly large, but they were often extrely ferocious and brutal, slaughtering civilians in various ways.
