Feng Xing had planned well. After work, he not only bought shrimp but also picked up so other groceries. With his hands full, he went upstairs and asked Mrs. Lin to stay for dinner. However, Mrs. Lin said that she had sothing to do and wouldn’t be able to stay for the al.
Feng Xing: “…”
Seeing Feng Xing fall silent, Mrs. Lin understood his concerns.
Previously, when she had the idea of Yangyang being nursed by Qiaoqiao’s mom, she thought that it was Mr. Feng who would discuss it directly with Qiaoqiao’s mom. She had completely forgotten about the need for propriety between the two. It wasn’t until Mr. Feng entrusted her with the task that she rembered the importance of avoiding any impropriety.
Hearing Mr. Feng thank her and Qiaoqiao’s mom for ensuring Yangyang received breast milk and ntioning that he would cook dinner for them, Mrs. Lin felt his gratitude was a bit over the top. Still, she realized that the dinner was ant to thank both her and Qiaoqiao’s mom So, while she couldn’t stay for the al, Qiaoqiao’s mom could.
Mrs. Lin said, “I can’t join you for dinner, but Qiaoqiao’s mom can. After all, we’re just neighbors, so there’s no need to worry about propriety. If you’re really worried about people gossiping, Mr. Feng, you can leave the door open while you eat. That way, everything’s out in the open, and there’s nothing to worry about,” Mrs. Lin suggested.
In Mrs. Lin’s opinion, it was unlikely anyone would notice or care about the two of them dining. However, she appreciated Mr. Feng’s caution and consideration.
Feng Xing wasn’t aware of Mrs. Lin’s thoughts; he felt caught in a dilemma. He had already agreed to make dinner with the little woman, and all the ingredients were bought. It would be difficult to back out now.
Shortly after Mrs. Lin left, Bai Qiuyi arrived. The door was open, so she knocked on the door fra before walking in.
“Mr. Feng?” Bai Qiuyi called out as she stood just inside.
After a mont, Feng Xing appeared. He was wearing a white T-shirt and black casual pants. His well-developed chest muscles and muscular arms made her blush and heartthrob, leaving her dry-mouthed.
Feng Xing felt a bit awkward as he looked at Bai Qiuyi holding the child. Their conversation had been quite harmonious over the phone, but now, in person, he couldn’t help but recall last night’s events…
Now, apart from the child, it was just the two of them—sothing completely different from what Feng Xing had originally imagined. After a mont of mutual silence, Feng Xing spoke first.
“Co in and have a seat. Watch so TV. The rice just started cooking, and the dishes aren’t ready yet.”
“Okay,” Bai Qiuyi nodded gently, “Mr. Feng, you go ahead and do your thing. Don’t worry about .”
Feng Xing really left Bai Qiuyi on her own devices. It was just too awkward. It hadn’t felt this awkward last night, so why was it so uncomfortable now? Aside from the awkwardness, there was also a subtle, secret thrill of being alone with the little woman.
Standing at the kitchen counter, Feng Xing worked on deveining the shrimp, feeling goosebumps prickling on his skin. He heard the sound of the door closing and noted how she seed unconcerned about propriety, appearing to trust him completely.
As he heard her footsteps approaching, he asked without turning around, “Do you want so coconut juice? It’s the only thing in the house that hasn’t been chilled.”
Feng Xing had bought the coconut juice specifically for tonight, thinking she might want a drink during dinner. Bai Qiuyi thought he was very kind, and seed to know the needs of a nursing mother: she couldn’t have cold drinks. The original owner hadn’t been careful at all, eating and drinking whatever she wanted, though luckily Qiaoqiao had been in good health and hadn’t caught any illness from her milk.
When Bai Qiuyi made the iced jelly yesterday, she didn’t dare eat it cold; she only ate it once it had ward up.
“No need, I’m not thirsty right now,” Bai Qiuyi replied, hugging her daughter and glancing around the apartnt. “Mr. Feng, your ho has an open-plan kitchen. It looks really nice and gives off a chic vibe.”
Hearing this, Feng Xing thought about complinting her ho in return but rembered that her place was rented. He simply stated, “It’s not bad.”
Originally, there had been a wall between the kitchen and the living room, but Feng Xing had it torn down. It felt good to have his design choices appreciated.
The initial awkwardness he felt had gradually dissipated. “I also bought a lot of fruit, but let’s not eat any before the shrimp,” Feng Xing said. “Take so ho when you leave; Mrs. Lin and I can’t finish all of it ourselves.”
He paused, realizing how his words might sound, as if he and Mrs. Lin were part of the sa household. Bai Qiuyi felt a twinge of jealousy. She knew she shouldn’t feel like this but still couldn’t control it.
She walked over to the baby stroller beside Feng Xing and looked at the little baby inside, saying lightly, “No need, Yangyang and Qiaoqiao aren’t in the mood for fruit.”
