"Girl, are you okay?" Mo Junhua cald his emotions before he spoke. The girl hadn’t co ho all night, and it was killing him. He used to see her every day, yet it never seed enough. Being apart now felt longer than not just one autumn but five or six. He couldn’t sleep thinking about her, and after going to the military academy, he wouldn’t see her for months. What would he do then?
"I’m fine, and you... How are you? Are you hurt?" Mo Junhua taking a few people and squaring off against those desperados who seed to have a death wish was sothing Lan Tian couldn’t even bear to imagine.
"I’ve made it through the crossfire on the battlefield; those people are no threat to . It’s just a scratch from a bullet, nothing serious. Grandpa has already treated , you don’t need to worry." Mo Junhua shalessly sought Lan Tian’s sympathy, a strategy given by the Old Gentleman himself in hopes of fostering affection. Let the girl’s concern for him be the starting point, he thought; from caring, feelings would grow. Hence, Mo Junhua didn’t just report the good, but the bad as well.
"..." The fact that Mo Junhua could still get hurt, even wearing the peach wood bullet she made for him, showed just how dangerous the situation had been. Wait, if the bullet could penetrate her protective array, it ant that there must have been a cultivator among the assailants.
"I’m heading to the military academy tomorrow, girl, will you co back to see off?" Mo Junhua felt nervous inside. After waiting a while without hearing Lan Tian’s voice, he couldn’t help but shout, "Girl, are you still there? Girl."
"I can’t co back for now," Lan Tian, montarily distracted, finally responded to Mo Junhua’s call, "How about, after I return, I go to visit you at the military academy?"
"Okay, girl, we have a deal then," Mo Junhua felt a sense of completion.
"..." Looking at the hung-up phone, Lan Tian suddenly wondered, could she even get into the military academy? Well, she would deal with that when the ti ca.
After ending the call, her Divine Sense swept through the house. Not seeing Ji Feng, but knowing that he was wearing her peach wood bracelet, Lan Tian didn’t worry about his safety. After finishing the check-up and having no further conversation with Mr. Ji, she said, "I don’t need anything, I am heading back to my room now. No need to call for als since I didn’t co out."
Approaching the door, she glanced back at Old Ji in the hall, singing in a quavering voice, Lan Tian paused then returned to him, extending a string of peach wood bracelets and saying, "Keep this with you at all tis, never take it off. Actually, let put it on for you."
Seeing Old Ji’s puzzled look, Lan Tian grabbed his hand and put the bracelet on, tying a dead knot so no one else could remove it. Considering Ji Feng’s face, she then offered Old Ji a can of Spiritual Tea, "Drink two cups a day, one in the morning and one in the evening; don’t overdo it, or the effect will backfire. And you—make sure he follows this." She directed those last words to the guard.
"Dr. Mo, rest assured, I will strictly follow your dical advice," the guard promised, thumping his chest.
.................
Lan Tian returned to her room, sat for a mont, then retrieved a tea kettle from her Sleeve Universe and lit it to boil water and make tea. All the while, she pondered over the Qiankun Transfer Array. With her cultivation at the Foundation Establishnt Stage, she couldn’t break the array, yet she must find a way to do so.
No wonder Dragon Country was beset by disasters like earthquakes and tsunamis a hundred years later. Seismologists and Celestial Phenonon Scholars couldn’t figure out why these disasters occurred. If the essence of the Earth Veins traversed by the dragons was being drained, it was no surprise that disasters ensued.
From the Sea of Consciousness, he sought out the great Array to study it in detail. So Arrays could function without a Cultivator’s control, but others required a Cultivator’s manipulation, such as the Ancient Qiankun Transfer Array that extracts Dragon Energy and Earth Vein Essence to convert into a Cultivator’s life force. The Cultivator must control and convert within the Array, but without a Cultivator present in the Qiankun Transfer Array at Hidden Dragon Mountain, where does the converted life force go? How is it received by the Cultivator?
Unless...
Out of the corner of his eye, he caught sight of the Transmission Array on the Array Formation Complete. Lan Tian’s eyes brightened. Unless there’s a Child Qiankun Transfer Array on the other side, that would make sense. She couldn’t solve the Qiankun Transfer Array here, but she should be able to solve the Child Qiankun Transfer Array on the other side. However, she must first find that person’s location.
These days, Lan Tian did not plan to go out. With an adversary of higher Cultivation lurking in the shadows, she was not prepared to take any action. After finishing her Spiritual Tea, Lan Tian took out all those thick peach wood pieces that she had previously stored in her Sleeve Universe. This ti she didn’t just carve Arrays on the peach wood, but also drew talismans. Considering everything, there really wasn’t much ti.
Ji Feng was out early and back late these days, busy with who knows what and hadn’t been around to bother her, giving Lan Tian a sense of relief. She focused solely on her task, imrsing herself in drawing talismans and carving Arrays. When her Spiritual Energy in the Dantian was depleted, she would ditate to recover it. Once restored, she continued with her talisman drawing, and when she was hungry, she ate Spiritual Peaches. At night, she would go to Mr. Ji’s house to give him acupuncture treatnts.
As Lan Tian beca absorbed in her Cultivation, an entire week passed without her noticing until Ji Feng ca to call her out of her seclusion. Stepping outside after a long ti, she squinted at the bright sunlight, then turned to Ji Feng, "Why do you have ti today? What do you need from ? Have you finished your business?"
Rarely seeing Lan Tian in such a bewildered state, gazing at him with hazy, adorable eyes, Ji Feng felt an irresistible urge to touch... and before he realized it, his hand had already reached out and caressed Lan Tian’s head, relishing the soft, enchanting sensation, reluctant to stop once he had started.
"Slap"
She swatted away the intrusive hand on her head and saw Ji Feng smacking his lips as if savoring the mont, looking sowhat dissatisfied. Lan Tian couldn’t help but give him an annoyed glance.
Regaining his senses, Ji Feng was startled by his own bold move. He could hardly believe he really had touched Lan Tian’s head. His gaze inadvertently shifted, and without realizing, he bit the back of his hand as if to confirm the reality. The sharp pain assured Ji Feng that what happened was indeed real.
"It’s not my fault, it went there by itself." He felt a sense of loss in his heart, the touch felt so good, he should have lingered longer, what a missed opportunity. Thinking back, in his previous life, he would circle around Lan Tian every day, not even managing to hug her, let alone touch her head. The most they did was Lan Tian hooking her arm with his in public, putting on a show.
"What’s the matter? If there’s nothing important, leave quickly. I still have lots of unfinished tasks, and I need to go into retreat for a while." With the hidden hand looming, Lan Tian felt uneasy. Like a sword hanging over her head, threatening to fall at any mont, it made her Cultivation prone to deviating.
"Don’t rush to Cultivate just yet, the one-week deadline is up, Grandpa Mo and the others have co over." Ji Feng helplessly stood in the doorway, blocking Lan Tian from closing the door.
"The elders are here," Lan Tian montarily paused, and then realized the implication of the deadline, understanding that those people must have co to probe for weaknesses, "Alright, let’s go!"
The two of them headed toward the hall, with Ji Feng chattering along, picking topics that he could discuss with Lan Tian.
