Grandma Sun nodded with another, acknowledging.
Grandma Sun kept nudging Zhao Li on the side, repeatedly hinting with her eyes. Zhao Li shook her head, refusing. The two pushed and pulled at each other, making Lan Tian’s eye twitch.
"Grandma, if you want to ask sothing, just ask!" Lan Tian felt that she conducted herself righteously and had nothing shaful to hide.
Grandma Sun cleared her throat several tis and asked hesitantly, "You haven’t been intimate with Hua Zi, have you?"
Being sexually active at too young an age can be harmful to a woman’s health.
What?
What kind of riddle is this? Confused, Lan Tian looked towards Zhao Li, hoping for a hint. Seeing Lan Tian looking her way, Zhao Li quickly turned her head away, not looking at her, but pricked up her ears to listen to their conversation.
Grandma Sun, frustrated and disappointed, gritted her teeth and said angrily, "Have you had intercourse?"
Grandma Sun felt the embarrassnt and anger of an elderly face, but Lan Tian didn’t feel any of that. She didn’t see anything embarrassing about the situation and calmly replied, "No, I’m too young. Being intimate would harm too much; I certainly wouldn’t agree to it, at least not until after I turn eighteen, when I’m an adult."
Relieved, Grandma Sun and Zhao Li sighed. It seed like sothing the real Lan Tian would do. Getting their answer, they both left and went about their business, no longer caring about Lan Tian, who was left standing dumbfounded in the hall.
What was that all about?
They had co full of concern to ask her, and she had a bellyful of words to say. But before she could speak much, they didn’t need her anymore. Lan Tian shrugged and went back to her room to practice calligraphy and cultivate her mind.
Mo Yuanle ca back from the fields, seeing Lan Tian at ho and wasn’t surprised. Given the girl’s character, it would have been stranger if she stayed in soone else’s house.
At noon, Mo Junhua ca to call Lan Tian ho for lunch, only to find that Lan Tian was already eating with a bowl in her hand. About to leave, Zhao Li had already served him a al, so Mo Junhua also stayed to eat there. As soon as he tasted the food, he understood why the child wanted to eat here instead. The dishes at Grandma Sun’s house were much tastier than at their ho. Mo Junhua ate four large bowls, only stopping when he couldn’t hold any more.
Wang Guiyu and the others waited a bit, and seeing that the two hadn’t returned, knew they must have eaten there. The whole family started eating without waiting anymore. Chunlai’s wife muttered sothing unclear with food in her mouth, surely nothing kind, but everyone pretended not to hear.
After lunch, Mo Junhua sat with Grandma Sun for a while. Lan Tian, not wanting to go back but being urged by Grandma Sun, had no choice but to follow Mo Junhua ho. On the way, they walked slowly, using it as a chance to digest.
Seeing the two returning, Chunlai’s wife said sarcastically, "Look who’s back, our little princess. The new bride hasn’t even been ho a full day before running back to her mother’s house, didn’t even eat or co back to inform us, making everyone wait for you alone."
Lan Tian glanced at Chunlai’s wife and went up to Wang Guiyu, "Mom, I am sorry, I didn’t think this through and made you wait for for dinner. From now on, if I’m not back, don’t wait for ; you all eat your als, and I will surely be eating at grandma’s."
Lan Tian respected Wang Guiyu, so she sincerely apologized. Chunlai’s wife, on the other hand, legally speaking, is her sister-in-law, which wouldn’t an anything to Lan Tian who wouldn’t acknowledge her.
"Mom knows, go eat your al, eating won’t shut your mouth up," Wang Guiyu said the last sentence directed at Chunlai’s wife.
Everyone in the village more or less knew Lan Tian’s character. She grew up with so Little Demon Kings; her nature couldn’t be too good. Yet, she had one rit: she never stirred trouble first. If others bothered her and didn’t cross her line, generally, it was fine. But those few Little Demon Kings could make things unpleasant, which people from the neighboring villages knew all too well.
"Lan Tian, your sister-in-law actually has quite a good heart, it’s just that her mouth isn’t very pleasing. She was just worried that your food would get cold and eating it would be bad for your health, don’t take it to heart," Wang Guiyu said, though she felt sowhat guilty, knowing full well what kind of person her daughter-in-law was.
With a mocking smile, Lan Tian glanced at Chunlai’s wife and cheerfully agreed, "Mom, rest assured, I won’t take it to heart." If it doesn’t concern her, Lan Tian truly wouldn’t care, and she walked back inside.
"Mom, the girl is still young and unaware of many things. I’ll go in and talk to her, don’t take it to heart," Mo Junhua said as he followed inside.
Being not on her own turf was indeed inconvenient, with Mo Junhua’s watchful presence next door, limiting what she could do. Luckily, Mo Yuan had prepared a set of brushes, ink, paper, and inkstone for her. She spread out the paper on the table, ready to practice calligraphy.
Mo Junhua ca inside the house to Lan Tian’s side, watching her quietly doing these activities, noting every move of Lan Tian. From the drawer, he took out a set of tools, spread out the paper, placed a rectangular wooden board on top of the paper, ground the inkstone, washed the brush, then dipped it in ink to write. His movents were fluid like flowing clouds, a feast for the eyes.
