As predicted earlier, a thunderstorm ca, which caused the celebration for that night to be postponed as they sailed through the middle of the Miran Ocean.
"Milady, are you alright?" Dani asked.
"I'll be fine," Mineah softly smiled. "It's just the storm making the waters choppier than usual."
Her three shadow maidens stayed in her quarters as the ship swayed drastically due to the large waves coming their way. Although their quarters were located at the top of the main deck, they still had to close and seal their rooms shut so that the water wouldn't get inside.
"Ah, I never thought that sailing could be this scary," Zaila humd.
Mineah smiled. "That's because we encountered a storm," she calmly explained. "Relax, Zaila. Valcrez has the most advanced ships amongst all kingdoms, so we'll be fine."
It was true as well. Valcrez was way more innovative and advanced in their respective fields, and their ships were the best even when compared to other sea-faring kingdoms.
Unfortunately, her words weren't enough to bring back the color in Zaila's pale face.
"How can you always act so calm in tis like these, milady?" Krisha asked.
Mineah couldn't help but let off a small smirk. She was soone whose days were numbered, which allowed her to no longer fear death as much as she should have. Then again, her Shadow Maidens weren't aware of this.
"Hmm, in tis like these, it's better to be calm so that you'll stay proactive and rational. If you get scared too easily, then fear will have the chance to consu you," Mineah sagely advised.
"It will affect your quick thinking in tis of trouble. No, just relax. Just think of how Niran and Laura passed these very seas while traveling to Valcrez."
"But they didn't ntion encountering a storm like this in their previous report when they arrived in Valcrez," Zaila pouted.
"Now that you ntioned that, I do wonder if they purposely didn't ntion it since they safely arrived at Valcrez anyway. Or maybe they were lucky with the weather and they simply had a quiet journey," Krisha humd as she sat on one of Mineah's chests so that it wouldn't slide with the rolling of the ship. "We're in the process of changing seasons, so that's probably why these storms are suddenly appearing."
"You should just cast a spell on that chest," Dani scolded. "Stop sitting on that thing. It's dangerous."
Mineah simply listened and smiled at the banter of her three Shadow Maidens. Turning to one of the many closed windows, she watched as the rain poured outside.
As was expected of storms, streaks of lightning erupted from the sky, accompanied by the loud roar of thunder with each eruption that echoed from above.
Absently, she wondered if Nikolai could still travel in his mist form without any problems in this kind of weather. It was possible, but she highly doubted that was the case since she heard that traveling safely in mist form would always depend on the weather conditions as well.
"Are you thinking about His Majesty?" Zaila suddenly asked.
Mineah blushed madly at the question. And since there were open lights in her quarters, the reddish hue that she now had showed evidently on her face.
Pouting, she was about to defend herself when Marlo, together with the rest of the Shadow Knights, suddenly appeared inside her quarters.
"Your Majesty, we are being attacked by Sirens," Marlo inford.
Before Mineah could even react, the door had suddenly swung open. Alexa entered without warning and burst out, "Where's Nikolai? We can't let our Queen stay on this ship like this. We'll have to travel in mist form with her." She clicked her tongue as she asked, "What is wrong with these Sirens? Why are they attacking us all of a sudden?!"
Mineah didn't know what was happening. And judging by the lack of answers from the Shadow Knights, she could only assu that they didn't know what was going on either.
Seeing the lack of answers, Alexa grumbled as she promptly looked at Mineah. "Whatever. It doesn't matter. What's important now is for you to be safe."
"To be safe?" Mineah couldn't help but question. "You an with traveling in mist form?"
"I'll be the one carrying you with ," Alexa frustratingly explained as she prepared herself for what was to co. "Scions can travel in their mist form, but they're not powerful enough to take soone with them. I'm the only Exordium present, but I'm also bad with directions! The Scions can guide , but it will be very difficult in this storm."
Alard, Mineah looked to her Shadow Maidens for both their approval and safety. She didn't want to leave them behind, assuming that what was happening was that dangerous enough to begin with.
"We'll manage, Your Majesty," Dani reassured her.
"Are you sure?" Mineah insisted.
Her three Shadow Maidens simply gave her a smirk as Dani spoke for the three of them. "If all else, we know how to swim."
"You do know that doesn't give any assurances," Mineah frowned. "I don't want you three dying on , alright? I expect you three to be available once we et up in Valcrez.
The three of them simply nodded, and Mineah could only hope that they'd survive. She hastily looked at Marlo and said, "You and three more of the Shadow Knights will stay with my Shadow Maidens. Make sure that they will all be safe by any ans. Luis and the rest will go with and Aunt Alexa."
She then turned to Alexa and worriedly asked, "How about the rest of the Curbs and lds on the ship? How about Gregory?"
"They will be fine, Mineah. They're all trained to fight, and they will surely survive," Alexa reassured her. "They are warriors. What's important is we secure our Queen and get away from the Sirens."
And then Alexa clearly took the opportunity to nudge herself toward the nearest window to position herself for their escape. Opening their supposed exit strategy, Mineah squinted as the howling winds threatened to blind her with its strength.
"Grab onto tightly, Mineah!" Alexa instructed through the loud winds as she placed a foot on the edge of the open window. "This is going to be a bumpy ride!"
