Su Ruan was really curious about companion beasts.
Upon hearing Lu Shinian say so, she couldn’t help but ask curiously, "Do I also have a companion beast?"
She grabbed his large hand, slightly tilted her head up, and looked at him with so anticipation.
"Let’s talk in the room."
She stood up, pulling him inside.
After setting the room to private mode, Su Ruan continued to ask, "But I’m a Federation person, how could I have a companion beast?"
Lu Shinian having a companion beast she could understand, but why did she have one too?
If she did, why hadn’t she discovered it all these years?
Lu Shinian pulled Su Ruan into his arms, not imdiately answering her question, instead saying, "According to Imperial history, two thousand years ago, due to the deteriorating environnt of the mother planet, humanity had to initiate the Ark Plan."
"Nineteen hundred years ago, the ancestors encountered a cosmic storm, forcing two arks to split, with one landing on a barren star, which is now the Empire."
"And the other, presumably, landed within the Federation’s territory."
Su Ruan nodded knowingly.
Indeed, a thousand years ago, the Empire and the Federation were one and the sa, humans escaping from the mother planet.
Lu Shinian continued.
"To survive, Imperial humans conducted a lot of research, combining human genes with the native species of that primitive planet, naly so beasts."
"Coincidentally, the ancestors of Federation humans did the sa."
Yet, the sa actions evolved into different outcos due to various influences.
Imperial humans evolved more perfectly, being able to freely switch between human and beast forms, and they also had companion beasts that could enhance their abilities.
But Federation humans could only rely on the spiritual power birthed from their research. Perhaps sothing went wrong in between, as Federation humans never achieved that perfect transformation between human and beast forms.
Instead, it has evolved to the point where Federation humans experience an Ancestral Stage with beast-like traits appearing on their bodies.
From a certain perspective, the Ancestral Stage is actually a semi-finished form of evolution.
Those who truly evolved successfully are like Imperial humans.
But in essence, whether from the Empire or the Federation, they are fundantally the sa, reliant on spiritual power to produce companion beasts, and only under specific conditions can Federation humans complete their evolution.
When Lu Shinian recounted the history of the Empire and the Federation, his tone was very calm.
He was more like an observer, narrating the changes and blood and tears over the millennia.
Su Ruan felt more empathetic, listening to these, and scenes erged in her mind of humans from the Empire and the Federation striving to adapt in this harsh cosmic environnt.
That may have been the contribution of many generations, blood and tears mingled, creating everything we have today.
Her heart felt a little heavy, and she silently grabbed onto Lu Shinian’s shirt, softly saying, "Our ancestors were great."
"Hmm." Lu Shinian raised his hand, rubbing Su Ruan’s head, "The Ancestral Stage now existing in the Federation is partly because of the impurity content in Energy Stones; our genes are destined to be unable to digest those impurities."
"The other reason is a leftover issue from evolution over millennia."
"But I suspect that those with a spiritual power above 3S can summon their own companion beast."
Lu Shinian slightly lowered his gaze, Su Ruan’s image reflected in his dark pupils.
An invisible spiritual power fluctuated outward, and in the void, sothing seed to slowly erge.
What seed like a long ti was actually just a mont.
In this space, a snow wolf appeared out of thin air.
The snow wolf sat crouched in midair, tilting its head and looking at Su Ruan.
Su Ruan widened her eyes, tightening her grip on Lu Shinian’s shirt.
"Is this your companion beast?" she inquired.
Lu Shinian replied softly, "Yes."
Su Ruan looked at the snow wolf in amazent.
"I’ve seen it before," her tone beca more assured, "previously when we... during that ti, I vaguely saw this snow wolf."
She originally thought it was just an illusion under the intense pleasure, but truly seeing the snow wolf now made her suddenly realize, it wasn’t an illusion.
It truly existed.
When her spiritual power intertwined with Lu Shinian’s, achieving a high degree of physical and ntal fusion, the snow wolf had appeared without him summoning it, even unknowingly.
Lu Shinian recalled Su Ruan’s words, "Was it that recent ti?"
Su Ruan nodded, "That ti on the spacecraft."
"Ruan Ruan, intertwine our spiritual power, okay?"
Su Ruan obediently nodded, extending her spiritual power to intertwine with the spiritual power emanating from Lu Shinian.
The snow wolf sitting midair suddenly lay down on its back, with a look of delight appearing on its once naïve face.
It looked extrely comfortable, its fluffy head rubbing against the void.
"It looks very comfortable," Su Ruan said in wonder.
Their spiritual powers entangled, and Lu Shinian’s companion beast showed obvious signs of comfort. Did this an her spiritual power was beneficial to Lu Shinian’s companion beast?
Thinking this, Su Ruan held her breath, focusing all her concentration, continuously compressing her spiritual power and slowly channeling it to Lu Shinian.
The space seed to distort for a mont.
Su Ruan suddenly felt sothing erging from her own spiritual sea.
Instinctively, she blinked, and upon reopening her eyes, saw a small black cat in midair licking its paws.
The little black cat was only palm-sized, looking like a small, cute little bundle.
Su Ruan was a little stunned, instinctively looking at Lu Shinian and asking, "Is this my companion beast?"
Lu Shinian’s eyes flickered slightly as he stared at the palm-sized little black cat, "It should be."

Upon learning about the existence of companion beasts, Su Ruan had imagined what her companion beast might be like.
Perhaps a majestic big tiger, or maybe an agile leopard, or at the very least, a beautiful sika deer?
She never expected her companion beast to be a small palm-sized black cat, not intimidating at all, and looking sowhat underdeveloped.
The joy of having a companion beast was dampened by the small little bundle in front of her, and Su Ruan sighed lightly.
"It’s so small, is it malnourished?"
She felt her spiritual power was strong, though she hadn’t specifically asured it, she estimated it to be around 3S. Logically, the little black cat shouldn’t be such a small bundle.
Clearly, Lu Shinian’s 3S-grade companion beast looked so large and majestic, but why was hers just a pitiful little black cat?
Hearing this, Lu Shinian chuckled softly, raising his hand to rub Su Ruan’s head.
"Small and cute, just like Ruan Ruan."
