Inside the Duke Mansion.

The wedding chamber was set up in Xie Yunzhen’s courtyard.

Everywhere was festively decorated with red lanterns and strears, clearly arranged with great care.

After the ceremony, Ji Mingzhu would be sent into the bridal chamber, while Xie Yunzhen would remain in the front courtyard to entertain guests.

The bridal chamber was full of Xie Yunzhen’s people, making it inconvenient to do anything there.

To smoothly carry out the plan of swapping brides, they could only act halfway.

Du Peifang wore a bright red wedding dress, at first glance quite similar to Ji Mingzhu’s, both embroidered with twin lotus flowers.

But upon closer inspection, there were significant differences in the details.

Both were hastily prepared wedding garnts, yet Ji Mingzhu’s was more exquisite.

At this mont, Du Peifang’s eyes were filled with excitent and thrill.

"Princess, won’t the Young Master be furious?" Du Peifang, amidst her excitent, was still a bit uneasy.

Princess An He replied, "He would certainly be angry, but what’s done is done, he can’t change the facts."

Everyone in the Duke Mansion was his blood relative, no matter how angry he got, he would ultimately have to comply with the arrangents.

Seeing Princess An He’s confident deanor, Du Peifang felt much more at ease.

This matter wasn’t sothing she decided on her own; with the Princess backing her, what was there to fear?

Fearing that Du Peifang might slip up at a crucial mont, Princess An He advised, "On the way from the front courtyard to the bridal chamber, there is a garden you have to pass by. There is a rockery there, with hidden chambers. You should hide there in advance, wait for Ji Mingzhu to arrive; my arranged people will seize her into the rockery, causing a disturbance. You should act when the ti is right."

The path was already laid before her, and Du Peifang’s eyes showed determination. "Princess, I won’t let you down."

Princess An He looked satisfied.

Although Du Peifang wasn’t the daughter-in-law she wanted, she was much better than Ji Mingzhu.

That person, even with nothing, dared to defy the elders of the family.

To put it nicely, she was aloof and proud.

In reality, she was unaware of her own limitations.

Leaving aside Ji Mingzhu’s own inferior status, just her maddening nature made Princess An He uninterested in having such a daughter-in-law.

Du Peifang was easier to control.

If she wanted to establish herself in the Duke Mansion in the future, she had to be aligned with her own interests.

A daughter-in-law that could be easily managed, after all, wasn’t a bad thing.

Princess An He’s expression showed a genuine smile, and she even warmly held Du Peifang’s hand.

"Don’t worry, after today you’ll be the daughter-in-law of the Xie family. As for your parents, I’ll also plead on your behalf, so don’t worry too much."

Du Peifang breathed a heavy sigh of relief.

Truthfully, she was a bit afraid of facing her parents, fearing the reproachful look in their eyes.

With the Princess helping to explain, things would be much better.

At that mont, a servant ca to report.

"Princess, the wedding party has returned, the Lord has already gone to the front courtyard and sent soone to invite you."

Princess An He sneered, "He’s used to playing the good guy, winning Ah Zhen’s heart. If that’s the case, let them keep up their act of fatherly kindness and filial piety. What does it matter if I go or not?"

This wedding was a result of Ah Zhen’s antics. Even if they knelt and begged her, she wouldn’t attend!

Du Peifang dared not utter a word.

Rumor had it that when the Princess married the Lord, they were famously affectionate in the capital.

But the good tis didn’t last; later, the Lord took a concubine.

Since then, the Princess’s temperant changed drastically; she beca sharp-tongued and difficult, always causing trouble for others.

Every ti the Princess offended soone, the Lord would follow up and apologize to the victim.

Now, everyone in the capital praised the Lord, pitying him for marrying such a fierce wife.

They said the Princess’s peculiar temperant was why she struggled to keep her husband’s heart.

Hearing these rumors, Du Peifang wasn’t sure what was true.

The first ti she t the Princess, she was intimated, afraid of making a mistake or saying the wrong thing, displeasing her.

Yet, taking on the status of the main wife, Du Peifang could understand the Princess’s actions.

If one day, Xie Yunzhen took a concubine, and that concubine was Ji Mingzhu,

she would be even more difficult than the Princess!

Princess An He pressed her temple and said to Du Peifang, "Go ahead and wait. Make sure to seize the right mont."

Du Peifang rose, respectfully saluting the Princess, "Thank you for the opportunity. I’ll bring you good news."

The Princess nodded in satisfaction, "Go on."

Once the person left, Princess An He paced to the window.

She looked up.

The sky was blue, not a cloud in sight; it was indeed a beautiful day.

With her crimson-tipped fingers resting lightly on the windowsill,

Princess An He smiled, though her eyes grew cold, once Ji Mingzhu was dealt with, every day henceforth would be blissful...

The wedding procession, with drums and gongs, traveled from the west of the city to the Duke Mansion, the sound of firecrackers resounding nonstop.

Just like before, Ji Mingzhu was carried over the threshold by Xie Yunzhen.

Although many present viewed the wedding as a spectacle,

seeing Xie Yunzhen cherish Ji Mingzhu so dearly, they couldn’t help but feel envious.

No scion of a noble family would go to such lengths for their beloved.

Everywhere was ablaze with red, Xie Yunzhen’s heart already brimming with joy.

With strong arms, he securely held Ji Mingzhu, and as he walked, the tassels on her veil swayed beautifully.

Though held in his embrace, Ji Mingzhu’s mind slipped back to scenes of her past life.

Back then, they each held one end of a red silk ribbon, Xie Yunzhen stood far from her, his cold aura perceptible even through the veil.

It was clearly the sa person; how could his approach to the sa matter differ so greatly?

Thinking of past events, Ji Mingzhu’s emotions stirred, her breathing grew slightly heavier.

Despite the surrounding noise and constant firecrackers, Xie Yunzhen noticed her unusual deanor.

For so reason, he too recalled the scenes from the previous life.

At that ti, he had a cold face, as if Ji Mingzhu owed him ten thousand pieces of gold.

Thinking back now, he felt he truly lacked self-awareness.

His heart guided him as Xie Yunzhen’s thin lips touched Ji Mingzhu’s forehead through the veil.

In his mind, he silently said: I’m sorry.

The matron exclaid, "Young Master, the ceremony hasn’t comnced yet, this isn’t proper!"

Xie Yunzhen’s face flushed slightly, and he lifted Ji Mingzhu up a little, "Apologies, having finally married the one I longed for, I couldn’t help myself."

Ji Mingzhu pinched Xie Yunzhen’s arm hard, what nonsense was this man spouting again!

Seeing this, so guests chuckled softly.

Outside, people often said the Young Master of the Duke Mansion was a cold-faced King Yan, difficult to associate with.

Yet, now it seed, he wasn’t cold at all.

Just "adapting to the circumstances"!

Except for the old lady, the Princess, and the Du Family, all those who received invitations attended.

With the Lord overseeing the arrangents, the ceremony proceeded smoothly.

The master of ceremonies called out, "Take them to the bridal chamber!"

Thus, the ceremony was completed.

Xie Yunzhen stayed behind to entertain guests, while Ji Mingzhu was supported by the matron towards the bridal chamber.

Her vision was obscured, so her steps were slow.

The lively noise from the front courtyard gradually faded, Ji Mingzhu began to anticipate what was to co.

She only hoped that Du Peifang wouldn’t back out at the last mont.

If she didn’t enter the Duke Mansion today, it would be quite difficult to ever et her again.
