Chapter 812: Chapter 811: Divorce Wife or Support in Old Age?

They looked at each other for a long ti. Even the smooth and worldly Wang Yonggui hesitated for a mont before finally squeezing out a sentence: “Big brother, uh, my condolences—no, wait, when the old goes, the new cos! Brother, you’re still young. After a while, we can find another house-keeping, honest girl for you. Maybe she can even give you two more big chubby boys! Ouch—”

Before he could finish, Lady Jiang secretly pinched him. Was her husband scared out of his wits? What kind of nonsense was he talking?

Saying such things in front of Jinguan and Jindou—wasn’t that piercing the kids’ hearts?

Although Lady Lin was unreliable, the two kids hadn’t done anything terribly wrong. They were already quite pitiful, and their biological mother had just been dismissed. Now their uncle was talking about finding a stepmother—if he weren’t their uncle, people would have beaten him up!

Wang Yonggui belatedly noticed Jinguan and Jindou and realized his words were really inappropriate. He awkwardly laughed it off: “Well, uh, look at my big mouth! Brother, at your age, if you marry a new wife, it wouldn’t sound right for the mother-in-law to be as old as the wife. Hiss—”

Lady Jiang was nearly desperate. Was it not enough to offend the children, now he was offending their father? What did he an, at your age?

Never having thought of her husband as so foolish, Lady Jiang wished she could knock him out and drag him ho.

Wang Yonggui also felt he had greatly misspoken today. Although his wife pinched him twice, it also woke him up. He promptly said: “Uh, big brother, I suddenly rembered there’s sothing at ho. We’ll head back first. You handle this matter yourself—”

With that, he scooped up his son, grabbed his daughter, and ran off.

Staying in his big brother’s yard any longer, he figured he’d offend everyone in the house.

From quite a distance, Wang Yongzhu could still hear Lady Jiang complaining: “What was wrong with you today, offending everyone with your words? Whatever hurtful thing you could say, you said it!”

Wang Yonggui’s frustrated voice: “What else could it be? Wasn’t I scared by old brother! Don’t you say, the way he looked today was really scary. Not to ntion my sister-in-law, uh, Lady Lin, even I was scared!”

After a pause, he continued: “Did you see? You used to envy Lady Lin, saying big brother pampered her, blaming your man for not loving you. Now do you see? Compared to him, your man treats you well enough, right? If you complain again, see what I’ll do to you—”

Lady Jiang’s soft voice: “I know—”

The couple’s voices faded into the distance.

Old Granny Zhang coughed: “Since there’s nothing more, we should head back too.”

Wang Yongping and his wife, as if pardoned, quickly followed Old Granny Zhang out of the main courtyard.

Once outside, they let out long sighs of relief.

Wang Yongping cautiously looked at Old Granny Zhang: “Mother, what’s wrong with big brother today?”

This big brother felt like a stranger!

Old Granny Zhang gave a cold snort, didn’t say anything, and walked back to the yard.

Wang Yongping wanted to ask more but was held back by Liu Xiaoqiao.

Liu Xiaoqiao thoughtfully looked back at the big house’s yard, then at her mother-in-law’s retreating figure, and quickly pulled her still clueless husband back ho.

Once Old Granny Zhang returned to the backyard, she clapped her hands: “Finally drove that jinx Lady Lin out! Amitabha, tonight I can have a good sleep!”

For Wang Yongzhu, whether Wang Yongfu dismissed Lady Lin or not didn’t really affect her. The families were already separated, and Lady Lin could only be a minor nuisance, not causing actual harm.

Moreover, she would soon move to the county town and wouldn’t have any connection with Lady Lin.

Jinhoo had already left with Boss Zhang’s caravan, and those left in the main house had only a superficial relationship with her. She wouldn’t focus her thoughts on them.

But seeing Old Granny Zhang so relieved, it seed that Lady Lin’s existence was a long-standing source of resentnt for her.

Now, seeing Lady Lin driven out was finally a relief.

What could Wang Yongzhu say? She just smiled with Song Chongjin, listening to Old Granny Zhang talk about old things and offered so comfort before the matter was settled.

As for the main house, once everyone left, only the father and his sons were left in the empty yard.

Jindou’s eyes were dim, recalling his father’s heartless tone and his mother’s eager departure. He felt dejected.

How did a good family end up like this?

Although Jindou was young, he was sharp. Earlier, he’d harshly wanted Lady Lin gone, but when she actually left with her belongings, he felt an inexplicable emptiness.

Wang Yongfu sighed and patted Jindou’s shoulder: “I’ll go to Lizheng’s place to finalize things. Better early than late. You tidy up the house and take care of your brother—”

Jindou hesitated, wanting to ask why his father had been so heartless earlier.

But the words stuck in his throat.

Wang Yongfu knew his son was holding a grudge. He had anticipated this, yet when it happened, he felt all the bitterness inside but couldn’t voice it.

In hindsight, if Jinhoo were ho, he might have spoken a word or two. But Jindou was too young to understand, and explaining might be troubleso.

So he decided not to explain, mustering his spirits.

At Lizheng’s house, he had to record the divorce.

Lizheng, although curious, didn’t ask. He recalled how Lady Lin had nearly shad Wang Yongfu but was accepted back when she saved him.

Seeing their lives getting better, why the sudden divorce?

He advised, seeing as they were older and had children, remarriage might disrupt their lives.

But Wang Yongfu firmly insisted on the divorce, saying Lady Lin had already moved out.

Helpless, Lizheng took the paper. Reading the conditions, his eyes widened.

The terms were generous: Lady Lin could take property and received monthly provisions. This wasn’t a regular divorce; it was like a pension.

Lizheng watched Wang Yongfu. This seed more like a setup for elderly care than divorce.

If n handled divorces like this, maybe more divorced won would have better lives.

Lizheng, hiding his thoughts, filed the divorce, then personally showed it to Wang Yongfu before storing it away.

Wag Yongfu thanked Lizheng and went to the Clan Leader’s house, informing him and removing Lady Lin’s na from the family register, ending her ties with the Wang family.
