"City Lord, if Fu Xing dares to co, should we..." His subordinate made a throat-slitting gesture.
"No need."
Lin Cheng was angry but wouldn’t lose his rationality. "Let’s go and et this newly risen power of the Empire."
...
On the skyway, Fu Xing held Lin Fu tightly, burying his handso face in the crook of her shoulder, murmuring hoarsely, "Ah Foo, co back with , okay?"
"I..." Lin Fu hesitated, her mind was in turmoil. Her heart wanted to agree, but her brain refused.
"Ah Foo." Fu Xing held her even tighter, as if he sensed that he was about to lose his most cherished treasure and didn’t want to let go for even a second. He was prepared to resort to any ans necessary to keep Ah Foo by his side.
"I’ve thought a lot these days. There are still so many gifts I haven’t had the chance to give you, and the butler is still waiting for you to return. Have you forgotten? We agreed that once your competition was over, we’d go back to Fengdi."
Fu Xing’s voice was soft, yet the deep hoarseness carried a tinge of pleading that seed to grasp her heart tightly, inspiring fear and an uncontrollable flutter in her heart.
"Ah Foo, we’ve been busy before, and since getting married, we haven’t really spent quality ti together. I haven’t taken you back to Fengdi, haven’t traveled together. This ti, I hope we can go back together. And all your classmates, they are all waiting for you, each one of them cares deeply about you. Can you really bear not to go back?"
Lin Fu listened and, unknowingly, tears slid down her cheeks. She lifted her chin, gazing at him foolishly.
Fu Xing couldn’t control himself and kissed her delicate red lips lightly, like a dragonfly skimming the water’s surface.
Suddenly, a crisp sound ca from behind them, the rhythmical tap of a cane hitting the ground.
This sound, although unfamiliar, caused Lin Fu to jolt like she’d been electrocuted, and she abruptly turned around to look at the formidable, expressionless man behind her.
"Uncle."
Lin Cheng’s face was ashen and sullen, his deanor dark as deep waters. He beckoned Lin Fu with a gesture.
With a cold voice, he said, "Co here, co back with . It’s been long enough with this foolishness."
"Oh!" Lin Fu responded and turned to walk towards Lin Cheng, but Fu Xing caught her right hand in a tight grip.
Ti seed to stop at that mont.
Fu Xing grasped her hand with such force it felt like it might break her wrist.
"Don’t go, okay?" He looked down at her, his profound and inscrutable eyes shimring with a faint light, instilling a sense of heartbreaking vulnerability.
Lin Fu felt a sharp pang in her heart.
"Frey cklenburg!" Lin Cheng ran out of patience and called Lin Fu by her full na, his eyes blazing with anger, "How much longer will you keep this up? I let it go before when you lost your mory, but you’ve rembered everything now, haven’t you? So, you’re still going to defy for a man? Is this how I raised you? Don’t you know we in the Eternal City have all kinds of n you could want?"
This ti, Fu Xing finally turned to look at Lin Cheng, his eyes as sharp as glacial ice, devoid of any gentleness.
"Uncle, I am not just any man, Ah Foo is my wife. Our marriage is bonded by a wish token, and I believe you understand what a wish token ans to the Fu Family."
This lightly spoken sentence made Lin Cheng’s face dramatically change.
"A wish token? Fine, very well." Lin Cheng no longer called Lin Fu over but quickly stepped forward and grabbed her hand, intending to lead her away.
