He had given up his family, his honor for her, fled alongside her, did so many things against his conscience and morals for her, and he had lived in pain every mont of those years.
Even so, he never regretted it.
Even now, he still was willing to sacrifice his own life and loyalty just to help her escape.

Xiling just stood there, watching the direction where Evelyn left, but his heart was no longer in pain, instead, he felt a sense of relief as if finally liberated.

He had kept the promise made in his youth to the girl he loved, to offer her loyalty, with his life, honor, and blood protecting her. For her, he betrayed the whole world, and personally hard those friends who trusted him.
Now, his usefulness was gone, the beloved girl was no longer the one who used to secretly cry in the garden on that sumr afternoon.
