"It’s possible!" Mu Shaoling felt that such a large python was likely almost mystical, so it wouldn’t be strange for it to track them down by scent.

And indeed, there was a nest of snake eggs!
As Commandery Princess Dongyang crawled into the cave, the python realized what she intended to do. Its body was too large and the entrance too small to block her path, so it could only watch as she cradled a whole nest of eggs in her arms.
"Move aside!" Commandery Princess Dongyang stepped forward cautiously, "If you don’t move, I’ll crush them! But if you don’t eat , I will return them to you."
Though the python couldn’t comprehend human speech, it sensed the intent behind Commandery Princess Dongyang’s actions.
Still, it didn’t budge, but Dongyang paid it no heed and continued to step forward until the python began to slowly retreat.
So there she was, walking out of the forest with a nest of snake eggs in her arms. As long as the eggs weren’t damaged, they could be hatched at any ti, so she wasn’t worried about delaying the python’s egg hatching.
anwhile, Mu Shaoling had prepared so dicinal powder and sprinkled it along the way, planning to mask their scents completely. But when he was done and returned to where he had left her, there was no one there.
