"You, wearing a counterfeit, still have the nerve to lecture ?"

Feng Qingdai stared at the identical outfit Xu Ying was wearing, assuming that the animal rescuer’s clothes were fake, as many cheap jackets nowadays are just copies of big brands.

"Aren’t you embarrassed to be wearing the sa thing?"

Ning Zexi, who was already angry when Feng Qingdai knocked off his work badge, went into a full-on verbal confrontation mode: "Wearing the sa thing isn’t scary; it’s only embarrassing if you’re the ugly one."

Being praised since childhood, Feng Qingdai was sowhat frustrated hearing this man calling her ugly: "She and I both have sunscreen masks and hats on, how can you tell who’s ugly or pretty?"

Ning Zexi shook his head regretfully: "Look at your ugly face, you don’t even realize your own ugliness. Where’s your sense of superiority coming from? Got a link? I’ve been feeling pretty insecure lately."

"Let use a line of poetry to describe you: ’One does not know where the person has gone.’

He rolled his eyes dramatically, wearing a sly expression, capable of infuriating people with just his deanor and tone: "Besides, what makes you so sure they’re wearing fakes? Are you a master appraiser? Real proof, please!"

Ning Zexi’s relentless verbal assault made Feng Qingdai’s chest heave with anger.

This was her first encounter with soone so unapologetically rude to her, and her voice suddenly grew sharp and piercing: "You cheap laborers earning re thousands, can you even afford the sa model I’m wearing?"

The Lingsi Photography Team, being Feng Qingdai’s lackeys, naturally wouldn’t stand by and watch their sponsor get insulted.

Photography assistant Vivian glanced at Ning Zexi’s fallen work badge, then started recording with her phone, condemning him: "As an official staff mber, how can you insult people like this? It’s so disrespectful!"

Ning Zexi remained unfazed: "Don’t label wrongly. I’m a contract worker here for an internship. I’m unfamiliar with the rules; my personal words don’t represent the official stance~"

With Ning Zexi’s ability to talk back, Xu Ying wasn’t at all worried about him losing out. She focused her attention on the Big-eared Hedgehog.

Having mastered the language of hedgehogs, she comforted the agitated Big-eared Hedgehog in Xia Man’s hands.

[Little Hedgehog, don’t be afraid. I’m an animal rescuer here to save you.]

[You can tell if you feel uncomfortable anywhere on your body.]

The Big-eared Hedgehog made a distressed sound: [I’m so sleepy, so tired, so exhausted, but my body feels like it’s on fire, so restless.]

[I was beaten, my body hurts so much, boohoo, they kept hitting with sticks.]

Listening to this, Xu Ying was very distressed. The hedgehog’s back was pierced with a jumble of fruits, and the weight made it look almost crushed.

Xu Ying tenderly plucked the fruits off the hedgehog’s back, revealing scars underneath. Though hedgehogs appear to have a protective armor due to their spikes, their skin is very thin, and the spikes are mainly for deterring predators.

Currently, many of this Big-eared Hedgehog’s spikes were on the verge of breaking.

Xu Ying was extrely cautious while removing the fruits, fearing she might break the spikes. She used a cotton swab dipped in ointnt to clean the hedgehog’s wounds.

The Big-eared Hedgehog sensed kindness from Xu Ying’s gentle, careful actions, gradually lowering its guard, and its upright spikes settled.

"Little Hedgehog, you should take a nap first. Once you wake up, it won’t hurt anymore."

Big-eared Hedgehogs are nocturnal and timid, afraid of light. Based on its groans and appearance, Xu Ying deduced that this hedgehog might have been injected with a stimulant, causing extre restlessness that felt both sleepy and hyper.

At this point, it was crucial to avoid over-exertion due to excessive excitent. Xu Ying needed to provide it a calm environnt until the stimulant wore off.

She took a spacious carrier from the sand motorbike, an upgraded one that can adjust temperature and light since her funds were now sufficient.

Hedgehogs have a habit of hibernation, so she adjusted the carrier to its dimst, coolest setting, simulating a winter sleep environnt.

Carefully, she placed the Big-eared Hedgehog into the carrier. "This is called a carrier. It’s a very safe little ho."

"Little Hedgehog, did they ever poke you with sothing?"

[Yes, they poked with a needle, saying sothing about a pancake that would keep from feeling sleepy.]

[It was only after being poked with that needle that I started feeling like this, unable to control myself, my heart pounding, wanting to sleep but unable to, feeling so uncomfortable.]

From the hedgehog’s murmurs, Xu Ying caught the crucial information that these people injected it with the "pancake" drug. It imdiately reminded her of amphetamines!

Amphetamine-containing drugs are used to treat ADHD and narcolepsy, but it’s a strictly controlled substance in Dragon Country, rarely authorized for dical use dostically, and strictly regulated.

These people blatantly misusing amphetamines clearly showed illegal behavior. Who knows how much amphetamine they possess!

Goodness, this Lingsi Photography Team is becoming more criminal with each investigation!

Dragon Country has no specific anti-animal abuse laws. Previously, they claid that mistreating wildlife would at most lead to administrative penalties, but now... if they possess a large quantity of amphetamine, they could end up in serious trouble!

Moreover, if we trace the source of their amphetamines, we might catch a big group and dismantle an illicit operation.

Xu Ying lowered her voice: "Rest assured, I’ll make sure these people pay the price!"

She gently closed the carrier’s lid.

Feng Qingdai, seeing her photography prop placed into the carrier by Xu Ying, rushed to grab it back.

"Hurry and return the hedgehog to . It took so much effort to find it."

However, with Xia Man acting as a bodyguard, how could Feng Qingdai succeed?

Xia Man, having a military background, swiftly restrained Feng Qingdai.

Feeling like a criminal being handcuffed, Feng Qingdai beca vexed and humiliated: "Let go of !"

On seeing this, the Lingsi Photography Team hurried over, unabashedly scolding Xia Man: "Do you know who this is? How dare you rough up Miss Feng?"

"Miss Feng’s hands are for creating photographic works. What if you damage Miss Feng’s hands and affect her photography career?"

...

Feng Qingdai noticed Xia Man also had a cara strapped to her back. However, she couldn’t determine the cara’s model or price from its appearance; Xia Man’s lens and cara were unfamiliar to her, so she assud it’s a random brand.

"You carry a cara, too? Are you a photographer? I’ve never seen this random brand in the market. What antique is it?"

Feng Qingdai grew more agitated: "You’re just jealous that my equipnt is better, and my resources surpass yours. That’s why you’re pinching my hand so tightly!"

—"Who’s jealous of you? Don’t talk nonsense."

Upon hearing this, Xia Man felt like she’d swallowed a fly. Fearing that this naive girl might falsely accuse her, she quickly loosened her grip on Feng Qingdai.

"Calling it a random brand just because you don’t recognize it, you’re the ignorant one."
