Chapter 427: Chapter 426: Resource-Scarce P City

Li Qian stopped in his tracks, and beneath his gentle face, his smile deepened with a hint of coolness, “Do you think I would sell you out?”

“Who knows,” Zhao Changsheng scoffed, without stopping her stride.

“How long do you plan to pretend to be confused when you actually understand everything?” Li Qian took a few quick steps forward and grabbed her wrist, his dark eyes narrowing, “Do you really intend to keep pretending that you don’t see my feelings for you, or are you just too afraid to admit that you’ve fallen in love with ?”

The cheerful smile on Zhao Changsheng’s face cracked, she jerked her hand away fiercely and said harshly, “Don’t flatter yourself, I definitely don’t like you.”

She walked away quickly, with a panic she didn’t even notice herself.

When Su Mo had finished cooking and brought the dishes to the table, Zhao Changsheng ca back, looking particularly unwell.

She felt a bit strange and walked over to pinch her face, “What’s wrong with you?”

“It’s nothing,” she replied, looking down and avoiding the question.

When Li Qian entered, he was smiling, but there was a chilly air about him.

Su Mo knew they were in a fight, sensing that Zhao Changsheng always had a knot in her heart that she refused to untie, the one that involved accepting Li Qian’s feelings.

It wasn’t because of her; it was sothing else.

With a sigh in her heart, Su Mo prepared the tableware and summoned Lu Chen and Rong Bai, who were on the couch, to co for the al.

Jianxiong occasionally glanced over at Zhao Changsheng, but soon, his attention was captured by the dishes on the table.

Stir-fried bok choy, braised crucian carp, scallion crispy pumpkin, beef soup…

All the dishes Su Mo had cooked ca with a status bonus, and every bite Rong Bai took was like heaven and earth shattering, barely managing to eat a bun to ease himself.

The layer of sugar mixed into the rice was indescribably tasty and soft to the touch; hearing about the status bonus almost made him lose his grip on the bun in his hand.

Su Mo sipped the milk given by Lu Chen and curiously asked, “Is it really that exaggerated?”

Rong Bai nodded vigorously and answered, “Yes!”

She was amused and said, “Then eat up.”

“Sister-in-law, once everything settles down, let’s open a restaurant, and I’ll bring my troops to patronize it every day.”

“Sure, by then, you all have to cover .”

“No problem.”

After the al, Rong Bai felt his strength had increased by more than just a bit. He touched his palm and suddenly rembering, pointed shakingly at the fish tail that had been thrown into the rubbish bin and said, “A permanent strength bonus of 6 points?”

From the kitchen ca the sound of running water as Jiang Yulian and Su Mo were washing dishes. Jianxiong followed his gaze and explained in a rough voice, “That braised crucian carp has had its status maxed out by sister a long ti ago. The bonus is permanent.”

“Aweso!”

That day, Rong Bai completely abandoned his reserve and played with the splinter in his palm and with Jianxiong who was climbing on the ceiling like a fool.

As soon as Su Mo ca out, she saw Zhao Changsheng rolling her eyes at the ceiling, calling it childish. When she looked up, she silently rolled her eyes as well.

Two burly n lying on the ceiling playing with the chandelier created a beautiful scene that she didn’t really want to witness.

All afternoon, Zhao Changsheng didn’t say a word to Li Qian, and Li Qian did the sa.

During this ti, Feng Yao was called over once to discuss the trip to P city’s First People’s Hospital the next day.

Su Mo brought out a bottle of light purple Zijuan Tea and Biluochun Tea, and placed them in front of him, “These are teas for healing internal injuries, and these are for external ones. As long as they’re not zombie scratches, they can heal quickly. Consider these as your compensation for going to the hospital with us.”

Feng Yao took the two bottles, examined them for a mont, and said, “Deal, what ti do we set off tomorrow?”

Su Mo turned to Lu Chen, seeking his opinion.

“In the afternoon, we are too visible during the day, the night is better for hiding,” the man said indifferently.

Su Mo thought for a mont and then asked Rong Bai, “Do they have any superpower users with spiritual power?”

“Yes, though the specific level is hard to estimate.”

Su Mo nodded and turned to Feng Yao, “Tomorrow at noon, bring your people to our place, I’ll make lunch for you all.”

Although Feng Yao was unsure of what Su Mo planned, the prospect of a delicious lunch put him in a good mood.

“Well, if there’s nothing else, I’ll be taking my leave.”

Ling Ye, sitting on a small sofa to the side, asked, “Sister Su, can I spend ti with the kids during the day?”

Su Mo rubbed his head and said, “Of course, you’re companions after all.”

Ling Ye would be specially trained by Lu Chen to lead those children, so it was all right for him to start mingling with them early on.

Ling Ye swung his legs, looking quite happy.

After sending Feng Yao away, Rong Bai and Jianxiong had had their fill of fun by the ti it got dark outside, and then there was the sound of urgent knocking at the door.

It was Rong Bai’s soldiers.

The one who opened the door was Lu Chen, sitting on the sofa. Seeing him, the soldier reflexively gave a military salute, “Admiral Lu!”

The man nodded and let him in.

“There’s a civilian who is suspected to be infected,” the soldier reported soberly.

Rong Bai’s face fell, “Let’s go take a look.”

Seeing this, Su Mo exchanged a glance with Lu Chen and said, “I’ll co have a look, too, maybe I can help in so way.”

“It’s easily contagious, you should not go, this flu is too vicious,” Rong Bai shook his head and refused.

But Su Mo insisted, “Let’s just go and see, maybe I can find a way to delay it sohow.”

Knowing she was not simple, Rong Bai mulled it over and finally agreed, following a prompt from Lu Chen.

Zhao Changsheng didn’t want to go and stayed back in his room. Jiang Yulian, holding a child, dared not venture out easily, grabbing Ling Ye and heading back to her room.

Once they left the residential complex, the sky outside had just turned dark, the streets were lit with many lights.

There were more people coming and going, they passed through the area where the superpower users lived and headed directly toward where the ordinary people resided, along the way, eyes peeked out from tents and run-down buildings, cautiously watching them.

Su Mo noticed that these people were really thin, “Rong Bai, what do these people usually eat?”

“One bowl of porridge a day, food is distributed regularly by the ss staff.”

“In this district, all the land is ruined, we can’t grow crops, and supplies are dwindling with each day,” the leading soldier couldn’t help but answer.

Lacking advanced equipnt or professional scientific staff, there is a fundantal difference between refugee camps and bases, Su Mo pursed her lips, realizing that solving the issue of basic sustenance is a primary concern in establishing a base.

When they arrived at a yellowing white tent, several soldiers passed them face masks.

With her nose and mouth covered, Su Mo followed them inside.

Seven people lay on wire beds, five of whom were superpower users, each one coughing and feverish, their faces burning white-hot and covered in sweat.

“Two new cases showing symptoms have appeared,” a doctor with a stethoscope around his neck reported to Rong Bai, “The last of our dicine may not even last a week.”

“Admiral Rong,” the two n on the beds who had just fallen ill tried to sit up but were pushed back down by the man.

“Lie down properly.”
