"What are you waiting for? Hurry up and get dressed and co with ! Senior Brother is crying under the blanket. If you don’t go comfort him, do you want him to cry himself to death?"

Gu Youyou: "..."

"He’s the one who said I can’t leave now. Spare the effort." She was utterly fed up.

Yue Rujing froze in his tracks, his hurried deanor suddenly stiffening.

"What? Senior Brother said you can’t leave?"

"Yes, that’s what he said."

Yue Rujing felt like his head couldn’t wrap itself around the situation. He asked, "If he can’t take you away, then why did he risk coming here?"

"He ca to see , alright?" Gu Youyou replied, exasperated.

"Aren’t you perfectly fine? We made sure of that beforehand."

"What do you know? He wouldn’t be reassured unless he saw it with his own eyes." Gu Youyou was done wasting words on him. "You better leave quickly. If Yu Jizi gets pissed off, he’ll slap you to death."

Yue Rujing was pushed toward the window by Gu Youyou, but he clung stubbornly to the windowsill, refusing to let go. "Hey, don’t push! I can’t leave here for nothing. If Senior Brother won’t take you away, I will."

Gu Youyou chuckled humorlessly. "You think I want to stay here? Of course I want to leave—if only I could!"

"Alright, as long as you want to leave, that’s good enough." Without warning, Yue Rujing reached out and scooped Gu Youyou up around the waist, flying out the window with her.

Gu Youyou froze in shock, suddenly aware that she was being dragged into disaster by him.

They hadn’t gone more than ten zhang away when a white-haired elder dressed in black appeared in front of them.

Yue Rujing’s gaze darkened, and he imdiately positioned Gu Youyou behind him.

Gu Youyou sighed and pulled Yue Rujing back. Addressing the elder, she said, "I won’t try to escape. Ajing was just joking around."

Yu Jizi turned around and, with a faint, ambiguous smile, said to Gu Youyou, "Good to know you understand. Go back now."

Gu Youyou let out a long breath, lowered her head, and turned back toward where she had co from.

Yue Rujing looked at her helplessly before turning his gaze to Yu Jizi, his fists tightly clenched.

"What are you trying to do?"

Yu Jizi chuckled lightly. "With just a single command from , you wouldn’t be able to take a step in Nanzhao Country."

"Hah, you think I’m scared of you?" Yue Rujing planted his hands on his hips. "If anything happens to , do you believe for one mont my father wouldn’t imdiately lead an army south, raze your sorry little nest to the ground?"

"I do believe you," Yu Jizi replied casually. "That’s precisely why I’ve chosen to turn a blind eye. But if you dare to ruin my plans, I won’t show rcy."

"Heh..." Yue Rujing smirked. "Now that’s going to be tricky. You must know why we’re here. Let’s face it—you kidnapped Senior Brother’s wife. Do you think he wouldn’t co to save her?"

Spreading his hands, Yue Rujing said, "See, the conflict between us is this big. Clearly, you’re dood to treat us rcilessly, and we’re dood to treat you the sa."

After hearing Yue Rujing’s words, Yu Jizi was silent for a mont before nodding slightly and saying, "You’re right. It seems I’ve been too lenient with you."

Yue Rujing’s expression darkened. "What’s that supposed to an? What are you trying to imply?"

Yu Jizi laughed heartily. "You’ll understand very soon."

With his hands clasped behind his back, Yu Jizi walked past Yue Rujing, heading toward the largest stilted building.

Yue Rujing clenched his teeth in fury. And just as Yu Jizi brushed past him, Yue Rujing spun around, drawing the sword at his waist and thrusting it toward him.

Yu Jizi didn’t even turn his head. With a gentle sidestep, he avoided the attack.

Yue Rujing, unwilling to stop at just one strike, imdiately followed up with a second as his blade sliced through the air.

Yu Jizi smiled faintly, lifted his hand, and flicked his fingers against Yue Rujing’s Soft Sword. A crisp sound rang out, and Yue Rujing suddenly felt a powerful force reverberate through the blade, numbing his hand at the base of his thumb.
