Jasper Yale sat in the car, still feeling the searing mark on his chest.
He looked impatiently out the window, his eyes occasionally darting to the driver.
The driver couldn’t help but speed up a bit, surely the Young Master wouldn’t think he was driving too slowly?
Jasper Yale crossed his legs, his desire indeed resurfacing, and he neither wanted nor liked to restrain himself.
He took out his phone and scrolled to Yelena Hughes’ number.
But on what grounds should he call her?
Jasper’s finger hovered over the screen; if the call connected, what would he say?
A mischievous glint flashed in the man’s eyes—perhaps just say they et, and he’d pay her for it.
He dialed, but it kept showing as not connected, busy.
Jasper realized sothing was wrong, "Hailey Jenkins, call Yelena Hughes for ."
"Yes."
Hailey had her number saved, but before he could think of what to say, the call was answered, "Hello."
Jasper’s suspicion was confird; he had been blocked by Yelena Hughes.
Hailey glanced back at Jasper, seeing his face turn ashen, quickly looked away, his jaw clenched tight with anger.
"Hailey, is there sothing you need?" Yelena Hughes asked softly.
Hailey stamred, "Accidentally dialed the wrong number."
"Oh."
Jasper felt humiliated and furious, even if Yelena ca to him now, he wouldn’t want her.
No, unless she begged him.
Jasper’s face was stern, unwilling to let her back unless she pleaded.
For Yelena Hughes, as long as Nancy Alden behaved, her days went by just fine.
She never ant to aspire to Young Master Yale, so being kicked aside didn’t make her feel unbearable pain.
...
Before she knew it, it was nearly the fifteenth of the first month.
That day, Yelena Hughes received a banner from an older man.
The overdue wages were fully paid, and not knowing how else to thank Yelena, he gifted her a banner.
Yelena was pleased and hung the banner in her office.
Close to the end of the workday, the editor called her, "Yelena, retrieve the docunts from my drawer and deliver them to Snowpine Villa."
"Okay."
The editor was anxious on the other end, "Don’t delay, be quick."
"Got it."
With Dean Holloway absent, Yelena Hughes took the helt on the desk and headed off on her own.
Upon arriving at Snowpine Villa, she found many cars parked at the entrance, suggesting a grand occasion.
She walked inside with the docunts, nearly getting hit by a car.
If Yelena hadn’t moved quickly, she might have been knocked down.
She glanced at the car nearby, from which two won erged, one of whom she recognized from The Sovereign Club. It was Lily Jewel.
Lily nearly pointed a finger at her face, "That’s her, getting close to Master Thorne lately, always trying to seduce him."
Isla Jennings heard this and her face showed instant disdain, "Slut."
Being suddenly insulted like this, Yelena Hughes felt a fire within, though she didn’t want to cause trouble.
"I have nothing to do with Master Thorne, we’re not even familiar."
"Don’t kid yourself, everyone knows Master Thorne is pursuing you, following you around?" Lily baited, "Isla here is the Thorne Family’s chosen daughter-in-law, and who do you think you are!"
Yelena clenched the docunts tight, "Then I wish this young lady and Master Thorne beco a perfect match."
"Isla, she’s mocking you."
Isla Jennings, often mindless, was riled up by Lily’s words, ready to tear Yelena apart.
"I warn you, stay away from Shawn Thorne."
"I have things to do, excuse ."
Yelena Hughes walked quickly inside, Isla Jennings wanted to follow her but was held back by Lily, "Don’t cause a scene inside, we’ll wait at the entrance, she’ll have to co out soti."
Yelena reached the second floor, waiting at the stairs for a while until the editor arrived.
She handed the docunts over, and the editor quickly took them, "Alright, you’d better go back."
Yelena glanced around, going to the window and pulling the curtain aside, giving her a view of the entrance.
It started to rain outside, with Lily and Isla still guarding the entrance; clearly, she wouldn’t be leaving peacefully today.
She never went out of her way to provoke others, yet so people wished her harm.
"Miss Hughes."
A male voice suddenly ca from behind, startling Yelena Hughes to turn around quickly.
It was Hailey Jenkins.
"Is the Young Master here too?"
"Yes, is Miss Hughes planning to leave?"
Yelena nodded, but didn’t imdiately depart.
"Those two at the entrance aren’t easy to deal with, especially the younger daughter of the Jennings Family; she’s notoriously arrogant." Hailey ntioned her, even shaking his head lightly.
"How do you know they’re after ?"
"They were shouting insults at you earlier, loud enough for the Young Master to hear."
Yelena’s eyes lowered slightly, thinking it might be just what Jasper wished, for soone else to teach her a lesson.
"I don’t know any daughter from the Jennings Family."
"Wouldn’t Miss Hughes consider asking the Young Master for help?"
"Asking him for what?" Yelena found it amusing, "To step in and solve this for ? The Young Master told not to seek him anymore, and I lack the face to do so."
Hailey saw her about to leave, "Aren’t you afraid of running into them?"
"They’re blocking the entrance for ; even if I hid here until night, it’d be no use."
Yelena walked to the staircase, back straight, if Jasper wanted to help her, he would have already. He wanted her to plead, but she wouldn’t.
Hailey watched Yelena go downstairs, then turned into a room.
As Yelena reached the outside, a server-like person handed her an umbrella.
"Thank you." She accepted it promptly.
On the balcony of the second floor, sheltered from the rain, Jasper stood, arms straight against the jade railing. Yelena Hughes moved outside with a large black umbrella, keeping it lowered so he could only see her long, straight legs.
Jasper lightly tapped the railing, recalling the thrill of those legs wrapped around him, as Hailey joined him, "Young Master, will it be alright if she just leaves like that?"
"I’m right here, just a door away; how hard is it for her to ask for help?"
He doubted she could rely on anyone else to escape today.
Yelena Hughes crossed half the courtyard before spotting Isla Jennings standing by the car, aggressively waiting.
Yelena stopped advancing, crouched down, and the umbrella fully covered her, hiding her actions from view.
"Young Master, is she too scared to move?"
Jasper replied nonchalantly, "The only limp I’ve heard of is after."
Hailey gaped, looking Jasper up and down, wondering if now wasn’t the mont to praise his unparalleled prowess.
