"I just wanted you to co inside with . The outdoor scenery is nice, but it’s still cold, right?"
Jasper Yale glanced inside the hotspring pool but couldn’t see Yelena Hughes anywhere.
"Not cold. The air here is circulating, it’s comfortable."
Nancy Alden touched Jasper Yale’s hand. The man frowned slightly, "Didn’t soak? Why are your hands still icy cold?"
"Soaked for a while, but not seeing you made anxious."
"Anxious about what? There’s no one here except ."
Nancy Alden, leaning on a crutch, hesitated but still took the initiative to lean into Jasper Yale’s embrace, "I’m afraid it will be like last ti, where soone suddenly cos in. Without you by my side, I have no one to rely on."
Yelena Hughes clearly heard their conversation, but even craning her neck, she couldn’t see Jasper Yale’s expression.
"No one will hurt you anymore."
In the past, he had emboldened Yelena Hughes, but from now on, never again.
"It’s still so cold here," Nancy Alden complained cutely.
"Let’s go inside."
Jasper Yale walked over to pick up his phone. Nancy Alden looked around, seeing nothing unusual, "Why do I seem to sll a kind of fragrance?"
"What fragrance?" Jasper Yale asked absentmindedly.
"I can’t really say, but it’s sowhat familiar."
Jasper Yale gently put an arm around her shoulder, slowly walking towards the door, "Incense is burning here, do you like it? I actually think it doesn’t sll good."
In his heart, he knew clearly that fragrance belonged to Yelena Hughes.
The sound of the door closing reached the hotspring pool, but Yelena Hughes didn’t imdiately get up. Her hand clung to the pool wall, breathing a bit heavily, afraid of sinking and not being able to co up.
After confirming that Jasper Yale wouldn’t return, Yelena Hughes finally climbed out from inside.
She stood by the pool, water pouring onto the ground, completely drenched and looking very disheveled.
She casually threw on a robe, then went to change back into her clothes.
Yelena Hughes didn’t get a definite answer from Jasper Yale, which left her unwilling. After all, she had co here early in the morning, not to be humiliated for nothing.
Even if she was kicked out, she wanted it to be worthwhile, right?
Feeling a bit reckless, Yelena Hughes thought since they would never contact each other again, she sent Jasper Yale a ssage.
"Young Master, I’m going to release that news today, otherwise, I’m not leaving."
She stared at those words on the screen, almost wanting to delete them.
If Jasper Yale really saw it, he would only dislike her more, right?
But Yelena Hughes still pressed send.
After drying her hair, she looked at her phone, but Jasper Yale hadn’t responded.
Yelena Hughes knew he couldn’t even be bothered to say a single useless word to her anymore.
"Young Master, if you still want to suppress my news, I’ll have no choice but to wait at the front entrance. When Miss Alden sees , she’ll surely be upset."
After sending this, Yelena Hughes leaned against the sink, her shoulders slightly drooped.
The light from the wall lamp fell on Yelena Hughes’ shoulders. She occasionally glanced at her phone, but there was no ssage at all.
While she was unsure what to do, Dean Holloway called her.
"Hey, girl, that was fast."
"What’s up?"
"It’s your news, it’s scheduled. I have to say, you’re amazing." Dean Holloway sounded thrilled, happy for her, "You must have had a fight with Young Master these past two days, right? The boss did sothing so childish for you."
"It’s scheduled, right?" was all Yelena Hughes cared about.
"Yeah, just a word from you. You must have cald him down, right?"
Yelena Hughes stared at herself in the mirror, while Dean Holloway continued gossiping on the other end, "Young Master treats you differently, I think he really spoils you."
"Dean, you’re mistaken."
"With the speed at which it got resolved, what more could you be unhappy with?"
Yelena Hughes’ lips moved slightly. Dean Holloway wouldn’t understand that at best, this was just the ’breakup compensation’ she got from Jasper Yale.
Ironically, Yelena Hughes sighed, "If he wasn’t targeting , my news would have been released ages ago. His so-called kindness is built on oppressing . What’s there to be satisfied with?"
Yelena Hughes hung up, grabbed her bag, and left.
At the hotspring resort, she tried to hail a cab, but being in the mountains, not a single cab was in sight.
She could only walk out, hoping to catch a ride from outside through an app.
Jasper Yale stood on the balcony upstairs, watching, and could just make out Yelena Hughes’s back.
The wind swayed the leaves around the resort, causing a rustle. Hailey Jenkins knew there was no car here.
"Young Master, shall I ask the driver to give Miss Hughes a ride?"
He thought for sure the man would agree and was about to turn, but then heard Jasper Yale say, "No need."
Young Master Yale didn’t give a reason for not offering a ride, his attitude simply cold.
Yelena Hughes walked a long way out, but there was still no car within a few kiloters.
She was exhausted from walking and sat by the roadside to take a break.
She placed her hands on the long wooden bench, swinging her legs, lost in thought.
The weather forecast said it would snow again today, and Yelena Hughes couldn’t help but think of the first snow, which she spent with Jasper Yale.
During her most hosick ti, when she was almost unable to hold on, Jasper Yale held her tightly under the swirling snow.
Yelena Hughes asked herself, if she knew this was how it would end, would she still have sent those things to Mrs. Yale?
The answer was, of course.
She had no regrets; Nancy Alden not entering Yale Family only had benefits and no downsides for Yelena Hughes.
So it ans never contacting Jasper Yale again? So it ans a clean break?
Yelena Hughes forced a smile. It was good; it’s what she truly wanted!
The wind stung her face, made her eyes hurt a bit. After wiping the corners of her eyes, Yelena Hughes stood up.
...
This year was a busy one for Yelena Hughes, working as a reporter hardly allowed for any fixed rest tis.
On the third day of the new year, she had just finished making dinner when the ho’s air conditioner stopped providing heat, prompting Yelena Hughes to take out her phone to find a repairman.
At this mont, a call ca in from Dean Holloway, "Yelena, there’s a news run."
"What is it now?"
"An old lady lost her cat, claims it’s her only relative. She’s over eighty and won’t co down from the roof."
Yelena Hughes felt a sense of familiarity when she reached near the elderly woman’s place, she had been here before.
As she passed by the courtyard entrance, she glanced upward. Previously, Justin Sutton had brought her here to find Jasper Yale, and if she wasn’t wrong, this was a private dining restaurant.
Just as Yelena Hughes was about to leave, the door suddenly opened, and soone stumbled out.
The person collided with her, and as the woman looked up, she grabbed Yelena Hughes’s arm, "Sister, help !"
Almost imdiately, footsteps approached, led by Hailey Jenkins.
He paused upon seeing Yelena Hughes but then quickly instructed the two bodyguards behind him, "Take her inside together."
