Luna Kane looked at the man leaning against the hospital bed, and the mory of him covered in blood at the old mansion made her heart ache terribly. "If it wasn’t for you, would Donovan have ended up in the hospital? Look at how you’ve tornted him! He’s covered in injuries!"

"You even drugged him. How could you do such a thing!"

"Seeing you like this, I bet you’ve hit him often before! Are you even human? How could you lay hands on your own grandson!"

Caleb Xavier’s face stung, and he choked back his anger. "Do you think I wanted to hit him? I’m his grandfather. Hitting him hurts more than it hurts him."

"And yet, he’s been bewitched by that vixen with the last na Qin, challenging my limits again and again!"

Hearing this, Donovan Xavier’s eyes turned cold. "Who did you just call a vixen?"

Caleb Xavier pointed at him and turned to Luna Kane, his tone full of grievance. "Luna, look! I said one thing about his woman, and he looks like he wants to kill !"

Luna Kane’s voice was frigid. "You said it yourself—she’s *his* woman. Who else should he protect?"

As she spoke, she looked Chloe Preston up and down, and her voice softened. "I like this child a lot. She’s pure and clean, nothing like the way you describe her!"

Caleb Xavier sneered, "Hah! I really don’t see what’s so good about her!"

"That’s because you’re blind," Donovan stated flatly.

"You brat!" Caleb Xavier, furious, stepped forward to strike him.

Donovan imdiately looked to Luna Kane, his face turning pale and weak in a pitiable display. "Grandma..."

Leaning back in her wheelchair and fiddling with her Buddha Beads, Luna Kane uttered the harshest words in the calst tone. "If you dare touch a single hair on my dear grandson’s head, I’ll have both of your hands chopped off."

Caleb Xavier shuddered.

He looked up at her, a hint of hurt in his eyes. "Luna, are you siding with them?"

Luna Kane’s voice was placid. "The one in the bed is my dear grandson, and the one standing beside it is my granddaughter-in-law. Of course I’m going to side with them."

Caleb Xavier’s eyes reddened. "But Luna, I’m still your husband."

"Blegh—"

Isla Xavier, who had been listening silently from the side, couldn’t stop a dry heave from escaping. "Sorry, I couldn’t help it."

"Grandpa, you’re far too old to be saying things like that. I heard you were the one who refused to let Grandma divorce you back in the day. Otherwise, the two of you would have gone your separate ways long ago!"

Caleb Xavier was so angry his beard seed to bristle. "Go play sowhere else!"

Luna Kane shot him a faint glance and sneered softly, "See? Even your own granddaughter is disgusted by you."

"Luna..." Caleb Xavier pleaded.

Luna Kane closed her eyes.

"Luna, why won’t you look at ?" Caleb Xavier crouched down to et her gaze.

Luna Kane frowned, irritated.

Donovan Xavier noticed this and lay back down. "I’m tired. I want to sleep. You should leave."

Caleb Xavier reached out, lightly touching her arm. "Luna, let take you out of here."

Luna Kane swatted his hand away. "He told *you* to leave, not ."

"He’s going to sleep, so you shouldn’t disturb him," Caleb insisted. "Let take you to get sothing to eat."

"I’m staying with my grandson," Luna said flatly.

"Still..."

He had just begun to speak when Luna’s eyes turned sharp, and she cut him off impatiently. "You’re so annoying. Now get out!"

"Alright, alright, I’m going! Don’t be angry!" Caleb Xavier didn’t linger any longer. He turned and hobbled out on his cane.

Isla Xavier walked over to Chloe Preston’s side, tugged on her sleeve, and whispered, "Wow, Chloe, it turns out Grandpa is terrified of Grandma!"

"With Grandma protecting you two, you and Donovan are a sure thing."

Rosalind Rowan overheard them, her gentle smile never faltering, though she was nearly grinding her teeth to dust.

「That night, at the Xavier family’s old house.」

In the grand hall, the entire family was having dinner.

Everyone seed happy that Luna Kane was back, especially Caleb Xavier, who was so focused on her that he’d forgotten all about criticizing Chloe Preston.

Chloe had wanted Donovan to stay in the hospital for a few more days, but he had refused, insisting on coming ho.

Placing so food on his plate, Chloe asked softly, "Are you okay? Does it hurt to sit up like this? Do you want to go lie down in your room?"

Donovan Xavier smiled. "I’m fine. It’s just my forearm that’s injured, so it only hurts when I move it."

Chloe Preston pursed her lips in thought. "Then... should I feed you?"

Donovan Xavier raised an eyebrow. "I would absolutely love that."

Julian Xavier, sitting nearby, overheard their conversation and coughed. "You two are being a bit much. We’re all still here, and I have no desire to be your third wheel."

"If you really can’t help yourselves, wouldn’t it be better to eat in your room?"

Donovan replied lazily, "I’d love to, but Grandma told to co down for dinner. It seems she has sothing to say."

At that mont, Caleb Xavier was diligently peeling a shrimp. He offered it to Luna Kane with a smile. "Luna, would you honor by taking a bite?"

Luna Kane ignored him.

Caleb’s raised hand froze mid-air. He pressed his lips together, looking disappointed.

He then dropped the shrimp into Ian Xavier’s bowl. "Your mother doesn’t want it, so it’s your lucky day."

When Luna Kane picked up her chopsticks to eat so fish, Caleb instantly grew anxious. "Luna, be careful with the bones."

"Scram," Luna glared at him. "And stop calling that. It’s nauseating."

The man has one foot in the grave and he still has the nerve to talk like that.

Undeterred by the stares of those around them, Caleb Xavier leaned closer to her. "Why? You used to love it when I called you that."

"Luna, you don’t like it when I call you that? Luna, you must be saying one thing but aning another."

Luna Kane nearly gagged.

Isla Xavier gently patted her on the back.

Caleb grew frantic. "Luna, are you alright?"

"I suggest you talk less," Donovan cut in. "I don’t know if Grandma is okay, but I’m definitely about to throw up."

Caleb Xavier glared fiercely at him.

After composing herself with a sip of hot tea, Luna Kane turned her warm gaze to Chloe Preston. "Is the baby doing well?"

Chloe Preston smiled. "Very well. The baby has been good."

Luna took a bite of food and said casually, "That’s good. But with your belly getting bigger, you should have Donovan take you to the Civil Affairs Bureau tomorrow to register your marriage."

"As for the wedding ceremony, if you’re worried a wedding dress won’t look good with a baby bump, we can just hold it after the baby is born."

Chloe Preston was stunned.

Caleb Xavier frowned. "Luna, what are you saying?"
