Donovan didn’t push it. He simply held her hand, gently caressing it as he said in a deep voice, "I’m really leaving now."

"You and the baby be good and wait for at ho. Call if anything cos up."

Chloe Preston nodded. "Okay, you should get going."

As she spoke, she hesitated for a mont before leaning into the car, wrapping her arms around his neck, and planting a kiss on his handso face.

"Honey, co back early."

"Otherwise, the baby and I will miss you."

Donovan Xavier smiled.

He gave her one last hug. Then, she got out and closed the car door, and the man drove slowly away.

She lingered for a mont before turning and heading inside.

Upstairs, Chloe changed into soft slippers and began preparing food for the little orange cat, just as she did every day.

Suddenly, the phone beside her rang.

Thinking it was Donovan, Chloe walked over and glanced at the screen.

It was a call from Connor Sutton.

Without giving it much thought, Chloe answered. "Hello, President Sutton. Is there sothing I can help you with?"

Connor Sutton’s voice was deep on the other end of the line. "Chloe, I’d like to et with you about your father. Is that alright?"

Hearing him ntion Wyatt Quinn, Chloe tightened her grip on the phone slightly. "Okay."

「Ten minutes later.」

Chloe put on her shoes, grabbed her bag, tidied her hair, and went downstairs.

Housekeeper Wallace was just bringing over a platter of fresh fruit. "Madam," she said with a smile, "I’ve cut up so fruit. Would you like so?"

Chloe shook her head. "No, thank you."

"Are you... heading out?"

"Yes."

With one foot already out the door, Chloe paused and turned back to look at Housekeeper Wallace. "Housekeeper Wallace, please call a couple of capable bodyguards for ."

Housekeeper Wallace nodded. "Of course. It’s not very safe for you to go out alone. I’ll call a few extra people to accompany you."

Chloe nodded.

For so reason, she felt a lingering sense of unease.

「Half an hour later.」

The car arrived at a casino owned by the Sutton Family, the largest and most luxurious in all of Kryton.

The car door opened, and Chloe stepped out. A group of burly bodyguards followed, flanking her protectively.

Chloe glanced around. She felt as if sothing was watching her, and a chill ran down her spine.

A bodyguard stepped forward. "Madam, why aren’t you going inside?"

Chloe asked, "Do you feel anything unusual?"

The bodyguard looked from side to side before replying, "No, Madam. You’re being overly sensitive. With us here protecting you, you’ll be safe!"

Chloe nodded.

She strode inside. The next second, soone stepped silently out of a dark corner, their eyes cold and glinting with murderous intent.

A cold laugh echoed, exceptionally chilling.

Inside, the atmosphere was one of hedonistic extravagance.

An assistant led Chloe into an office. "President Sutton, Miss Quinn has arrived."

Hearing this, Connor Sutton, who was standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, turned. His dark eyes shifted slightly as he looked over. "You’re here. Have a seat."

He walked over, his posture impeccable in a silver-gray suit, a gentle smile on his face.

"What would you like to drink? Milk? Juice? Or..."

Sitting on the sofa, Chloe gently shook her head. "Warm water is fine, thank you."

Connor Sutton nodded and sat opposite her. He poured a glass of water and handed it to her. "How have you been lately? Is pregnancy treating you well? Is Donovan good to you?"

Chloe smiled. "Everything is great."

"By the way, you ntioned my dad on the phone. Is sothing wrong?"

Connor Sutton picked up the coffee beside him and took a small sip. He looked at her and asked in a low voice, "Chloe, is your father a heavy gambler?"

Chloe’s hands tensed, and she nodded. "Yes, he’s always been like that."

"But he hasn’t gambled at all since last ti. I think he finally took it to heart and is starting to quit."

Connor Sutton asked, "How do you know he stopped?"

Chloe said without a second thought, "He hasn’t asked for money for months. Not a single penny."

She knew her father; he lost nine tis out of ten. Whenever he gambled, he was certain to run up debts and call her relentlessly for money! These past few months had been unusually calm... abnormally so.

Connor Sutton was silent for a few seconds before looking up and glancing at the assistant beside him.

The assistant understood, walked over, and handed Connor his phone.

Connor Sutton took it and passed it to her. "This is a live feed from a private room in our casino. Take a look."

Chloe took the phone. The mont she saw the screen, her pupils shrank.

The man inside was all too familiar. It was her dad.

He... He’s still gambling?

Where did he get the money to gamble?

Connor Sutton’s gaze was fixed on her, his thin lips pressed together. His voice was heavy. "Chloe, the truth is, I never told you, but your father is a frequent high-roller here."

"And he rarely wins. He’s already lost a substantial amount of money."

Chloe frowned, her hands clenching into fists. "How much?"

The assistant held up his hand, showing five fingers.

"Five million?" Chloe asked.

The assistant shook his head.

Chloe took a deep breath, gritting her teeth. "Five... fifty million?"

The assistant shook his head again.

Chloe didn’t dare guess again.

The next second, the assistant spoke. "Miss Quinn, your father has already lost five hundred million. President Sutton has been footing the bill this whole ti. He’s still in there now, still gambling, and still losing."

"What did you say?!"

Chloe shot to her feet. Blood rushed to her head, and she squeezed her eyes shut, on the verge of fainting from pure rage.

Connor Sutton rushed forward to support her. "Chloe, you’re pregnant, don’t get worked up! I didn’t bring you here today to talk about money."

"Your father has been gambling here for days on end. He’s barely eating and refuses to sleep. I’ve tried to persuade him, but he won’t listen. If this continues, I’m afraid he might collapse and die!"

Filled with a murderous rage, Chloe demanded, "Where is he now?"

"I’ll take you to him," Connor Sutton said.

A few monts later, they arrived at a room. The door opened to a constant uproar from within.

Chloe’s eyes imdiately locked onto Wyatt Quinn in the distance. She stord forward and grabbed his arm.

SLAP!

A crisp, loud slap landed on the man’s face with vicious force.

"Wyatt Quinn, you never change!"

Chloe seized his ear and twisted it hard.
