Chapter 56: Chapter 56: Protecting Jiang Man, Lu Xingzhou Loses His Temper

“Godmother, how is it? How is it?” On the other end of the phone, Wen Jingya could barely contain her excitent.

ng Lian glanced around, making sure no one was nearby, before whispering, “Zhou’er and Jiang Man aren’t sleeping in separate rooms at all, they’re quite fond of each other!”

“What? That’s impossible! I clearly saw Jiang Man in the guest room…”

“They did have a bit of a quarrel, and Jiang Man went to sleep in the guest room, probably just for a night or two. Your aunt, grandma, and I went to Zhou’er’s room, and there were many of Jiang Man’s belongings there. Xingzhou even put up a clothes rack on the balcony, and Jiang Man’s underwear is just hanging out there all brazenly, truly shaless!”

“How could that be? I don’t believe it!” Wen Jingya’s furious voice almost burst through the phone line.

ng Lian sighed, “Jingya, godmother understands how you feel. I know you have designs on Xingzhou, but he only sees you as a sister. Listen to

and spend more ti with Song Xiao. Stop clinging to Xingzhou.”

“…” Wen Jingya was so angry that she trembled all over, her mouth quivering uncontrollably, unable to utter a single word.

She could bear it when others urged her to give up on Lu Xingzhou.

But now, even her foster mother was saying such things, how could she endure it?

“Godmother, my intuition is very accurate. I just feel like Xingzhou and Jiang Man are putting on an act! I’ll find a way to expose them! Just you wait and see!”

After speaking, Wen Jingya rudely hung up the phone.

“Jingya… Jingya…” ng Lian called out twice, but it was to no avail.

She looked at the phone that had been hung up and sighed.

What a sin!

Jiang Man entered Lu Xingzhou’s room and imdiately noticed the items hanging on the balcony.

Because it was just too jarring, too discordant!

“Mr. Lu, this clothes rod?”

“I had it installed.”

“I don’t often stay in your room, there’s no need for a clothes rod… It ruins the ambiance of your balcony.”

“It doesn’t bother .” Lu Xingzhou’s expression remained calm, “They’re all dry, rember to take them down.”

“I’ll take them down now…” Jiang Man strode toward the balcony and found out that the clothes rod was even motorized.

She pressed the button to lower the clothes rod and took down the lonely underwear that was drying.

It would have been just fine hanging in the bathroom, she didn’t know what Lu Xingzhou was thinking by hanging them so conspicuously on the balcony.

Actually, hanging them on the balcony wasn’t a problem, it would be perfectly ok mixed in with other clothes, but instead, he hung just these two items!

Jiang Man was speechless, not knowing quite what to say.

“Do you rich people not air-dry your clothes?”

Lu Xingzhou was caught off-guard by her sudden question, “We have a dryer.”

“I like the sll of the sun.” Jiang Man said as she carried her clothes to the bathroom: “I’m going to wash up.”

“Ok.” Lu Xingzhou nodded but found himself pondering the words Jiang Man had just uttered.

The sll of the sun?

What does that sll like?

Half an hour later.

Jiang Man and Lu Xingzhou, grood and dressed, ca downstairs together and headed to the dining room.

ng Lian had arranged a table full of breakfast, attending to the grandmother with special care.

Lu Xuei seized the mont to assert her seniority, “Manman, Zhou’er’s parents passed away early. In your second aunt’s eyes, Zhou’er is like her own son. You should learn from your second aunt, to learn how to take care of your in-laws in the future.”

“Manman is still young, there’s no rush.” The old lady quickly interjected to help.

Lu Xuei pouted her lips. “Mom, you can’t play favorites. When my second sister-in-law took care of you, she was only twenty. It’s the perfect ti for Jiang Man to serve the second sister-in-law.”

ng Lian stayed silent, dutifully scooping porridge and peeling eggs for the old lady.

Seeing this, Lu Xuei nagged again, “Manman, didn’t you see your second auntie working her hands and feet off without a break? You should learn from her and serve her porridge and peel eggs!”

All these were trivial matters, and Jiang Man understood the intention of Lu Xingzhou’s aunt.

Since she and Lu Xingzhou had really gotten married, it was not a big deal for a daughter-in-law to perform her filial duties.

So she took an empty bowl, first ladled out so porridge, then proceeded to peel the eggs.

Seeing Jiang Man being so obedient, Lu Xuei’s self-esteem instantly was satisfied.

However, she didn’t stop there and intensified her demands, “Later, you will wash all the bowls and chopsticks from the table! Rember, you have to wash them by hand!”

Jiang Man heard her aunt’s words but didn’t bother to respond.

The porridge was served, the eggs were peeled; these were reasonable requests, and she had done them.

But having to hand wash the dishes was obviously making things difficult for her!

The dishwasher at ho was as big as half a cupboard, capable of washing dozens of dishes at once with no problem.

Even when the servants washed the dishes, they used the dishwasher.

Why should she have to do it by hand?

“Jiang Man, I’m talking to you, did you hear ?” Seeing Jiang Man ignoring her, Lu Xuei’s temper flared up instantly.

“Enough!” But more irate than her was Lu Xingzhou.

Lu Xuei was sowhat stunned.

“Aunt, rember your place! You are my aunt, not my biological mother! Manman calls you aunt out of respect to , but that doesn’t an she has to listen to you!”

“I…” Lu Xuei was left speechless by the retort.

But Lu Xingzhou did not intend to let it go and, after wiping his hands clean with a damp cloth, he forcefully slamd it down on the dining table, “Apart from grandma, neither you nor the second aunt has any right to discipline Manman. What’s all this about serving the mother-in-law—it’s a joke! Who gave you the audacity to claim you’re the mother-in-law?”

“I… I…” Embarrassed and put on the spot, Lu Xuei was overwheld with sha.

ng Lian, seeing the situation, quickly tried to smooth things over, “Zhou’er, don’t be angry, your aunt didn’t an any harm.”

“Bringing grandma around early in the morning to our place, was it really just to make breakfast?” Lu Xingzhou sneered, “My parents may have died early, but I was raised by grandma, what does it have to do with you? Don’t use your status to bully and certainly not to bully Manman!”

“I didn’t, it’s unjust…” Always ‘ek and mild,’ ng Lian could not withstand Lu Xingzhou’s harsh words like Lu Xuei could. After being reprimanded, she covered her mouth and began to cry pitifully.

“Alright, enough!” The old lady, seeing things heading in a wrong direction, promptly interrupted.

She wasn’t very angry, in fact, she was sowhat pleased.

Zhou’er was defending Manman so fiercely; their relationship must be very close.

Nowadays, nothing was more important than Zhou’er finding a good wife to provide an heir for the Lu Family.

“Xuei, what high and mighty airs are you putting on? Manman just married into the family and you’re already acting like an evil mother-in-law for all to see?” The old lady glared at Lu Xuei.

Lu Xuei felt extrely wronged but dared not babble any further.

After all, she was over forty and still unmarried, living off the Lu Family.

Now, all the power in the Lu Family was in the hands of her nephew, Lu Xingzhou.

In other words, the family she was living off was, indirectly, supported by the money her nephew earned.

“Mom, I was wrong,” contemplating this, Lu Xuei bit her lip and said in a pitiable voice.

“What’s the point of apologizing to ? Apologize to Manman yourself.”

Lu Xuei internally resisted; she could bow her head, but she didn’t want to bow to Jiang Man.

This wild girl, Jiang Man, what made her so special?
