The FBI agent in charge of the Wushuang case clashed with his superior, refusing to release Wen Nuan and asserting that she was definitely connected to Wushuang, as she couldn’t explain the butterfly birthmark, raising suspicions.

They were currently interrogating her and believed they would apprehend Wushuang soon.

Mo Xiaobai and the Longn agents used their own people to pressure the FBI, and Dudi was also involved. However, the Wushuang case had far-reaching consequences, and the power balance between the governnts was too strong, leading to a stalemate and Wen Nuan’s continued detention.

Dudi and the Longn agents’ request to visit her was denied.

This matter was classified as top secret, prohibiting visits, which angered Dudi. Mo Xiaobai considered using brutal thods to rescue her. The Mafia’s people within the FBI had already investigated and found that Wen Nuan was not with the FBI. In other words, their secret detention must involve torture until they obtained the information they wanted.

The location had been reported to Mo Xiaobai.

Left with no other option, Dudi had to call the Attorney General. He refused to believe he couldn’t resolve the matter peacefully.

His approach differed from Mo Xiaobai and Longn’s; after all, the Du family had a cooperative relationship with the governnt, and a complete breakdown in

relations was unacceptable. Dudi t with the Attorney General. The Du family was a long-established arms brand in the US. Starting with Dudi’s father’s generation, the family emigrated collectively, shifting their focus to the US and wielding considerable influence in both politics and business. Dudi was the largest and most legitimate arms supplier to the US governnt, and mbers of the family had influence in Arican politics. Dudi provided substantial funds annually for congressional elections, exchanging these funds for various arms deals—a mutually beneficial arrangent. Dudi maintained close ties with influential figures in Arican politics.

Two fellow party mbers were also present at the eting with the Attorney General. No one knew what they discussed or what deals they made. Dudi left with a polite release order.

When Wen Nuan woke up again, her eyes ached. She didn’t know she had been unconscious for almost ten hours. In her hazy state, Will, Daniel, and the refined man were all there; they still weren’t going to let her go.

The refined man, no longer leaning back as if watching a show, saw her awake and reached out to grab her neck. The iron chain dragged on the ground with a cold, nacing sound, like the most dangerous warning.

"Speak, do you know her?" the refined man demanded sharply. "If you admit it, we can all go ho."

Wen Nuan was being choked, unable to breathe. She had experienced the agony of suffocation countless tis these past few days, yet she had sohow managed to endure it. She was covered in blood, but stubbornly and arrogantly stared at him.

"What do you want to hear...you...tell , and I’ll...tell you," Wen Nuan said haltingly. The man tightened his grip, and Wen Nuan’s mouth opened; with one more twist, he could snap her neck.

At this mont, she missed Ye Feimo terribly.

Perhaps, she would never see him again.

Separation by death—this was truly heartbreaking. Despair overwheld her eyes, and Wen Nuan slowly closed them. The man coldly snorted and tossed her aside. Precious air filled her nostrils; freedom was so precious.

She gasped for breath. The refined man drew his sidearm from his waist, the dark muzzle pointed at Wen Nuan. She was simply breathing, unafraid. Even if he shot her the next second, she would breathe deeply. She

would cherish every second of life.

"David, what are you doing?" Will and Daniel rushed forward. Wen Nuan thought of the good cop/bad cop routine—one playing the villain, the other the hero. This act was boring; she’d seen it countless tis.

"If you don’t talk, you’re dead!" the refined man said, his voice icy.

Before Wen Nuan could reply, a mocking and arrogant voice rang out, accompanied by a whistle. A magnificent baritone voice, laced with intoxicating laughter, asked, "Who are you calling dead?"

Will, Daniel, and the refined man turned around in alarm, only to see several detectives lying on the ground behind them. A man in beige casual clothes pointed a silver gun at them. Behind him stood a row of masked n, more than ten in total, all seemingly elite agents.

"Good boy, put down your guns, or I won’t guarantee anything." The man laughed arrogantly, pointing his gun at the three of them. Suddenly, one of the n next to him fired a shot into the refined man’s thigh. It was a silenced pistol, making little noise. A bloody hole appeared in the refined man’s thigh, and he scread as he fell to the ground. Will and Daniel dropped their weapons, raised their hands, and lay motionless to the side.

The man stepped forward, took the keys from their waistbands, and knelt before Wen Nuan. A flash of malice crossed his eyes as he hurriedly unlocked Wen Nuan’s shackles. In her dazed state, Wen Nuan saw a pair of beautiful phoenix eyes.

"Fei Mo..." she murmured. The man smiled bitterly, "Little cousin-in-law, am I better looking than little cousin?"

Just as he was about to unlock Wen Nuan’s handcuffs, a man behind him with a microcomputer said, "Young master, Dudi is here."

...

When Dudi and several federal agents entered, Will, Daniel, and the refined man were all lying unconscious on the ground. The other detectives had been shot with tranquilizer guns, and only the refined man had been shot.

Dudi went straight to Wen Nuan. Seeing her in such a disheveled state, he felt both heartache and anger. His sharp eyes swept over the accompanying FBI senior investigator. The gentle man lost his usual gentlemanly deanor and said sternly, "I won’t let this go."

The senior investigator looked guilty. Dudi hurriedly unlocked Wen Nuan’s handcuffs and removed the chain around her neck. Her neck, wrists, and ankles were covered in wounds, a shocking sight. There was blood on her body, and she looked utterly wretched, as if she could lose her life at any mont. Dudi felt a pang of pity, took off his coat and draped it over Wen Nuan, carefully picked her up, and hurried outside.

An FBI agent called an ambulance; soone had been shot.

Dudi, carrying Wen Nuan, hurried through the long, quiet street under the protection of two guards. Parking was prohibited here; tall governnt buildings lined both sides. This dangerous, bloody underground interrogation room was located here, where countless people secretly disappeared every year.

A car was already waiting outside. He held Wen Nuan in his arms, quickly got in, and ordered soone to drive to the hospital.

In another car, Xiao Hei turned to the pale-faced Ye Feimo, "Young Master, the Young Madam has been rescued. Should we go to the hospital?"

"No need!" Just after saying this, a little blood trickled from the corner of Ye Feimo’s lips, and he also lost consciousness.
