"Happy New Year," Shen Wenzhou looked down at Ji Muran. His voice wasn’t as loud as Ji Muran’s, but she still heard him.
Ji Muran smiled at Shen Wenzhou, then shifted her gaze away.
At this mont, Ji Muran faintly heard the man beside her calling, "Ji Muran."
Ji Muran instinctively turned around. She wasn’t sure if she had misheard, but when she saw him fixing his burning gaze on her, she knew she had not.
Ji Muran didn’t know why he was calling her. She asked dazedly, "What’s up?"
Shen Wenzhou said, "Ji Muran, let’s date."
His voice was still soft, especially in such a noisy setting, but he was sure Ji Muran heard him. Even the strangers standing next to him heard it.
The word "date" made the onlookers turn their gossipy gazes toward them.
Ji Muran continued to stare at Shen Wenzhou, once again doubting her hearing. Did she have an auditory hallucination?
Shen Wenzhou continued, "The serious kind of dating."
Ji Muran still looked at Shen Wenzhou blankly, as if she was completely stunned by his words.
Shen Wenzhou wanted to say sothing else, but before he could, Ji Muran suddenly took action. She grabbed his hand and started walking away from the crowd!
Shen Wenzhou was slightly surprised by Ji Muran’s sudden action, but he followed her out.
There were so many people that it took them several minutes to reach the fringes. There were fewer people and less noise there, so it was much quieter.
Ji Muran stopped. She let go of his hand and turned to face Shen Wenzhou. She was breathing heavily, either from the hurried walk or because she was too nervous.
"Mr. Shen, what did you just say? Can you say it again?" Ji Muran suddenly asked.
Since Shen Wenzhou brought it up last ti, Ji Muran hadn’t called him "Mr. Shen" anymore. But now she was too anxious and lost control, addressing him as Mr. Shen again.
Shen Wenzhou looked at Ji Muran and saw how nervous she was. He knew she had heard him, but she didn’t dare believe it. That’s why she dragged him to a quieter place to have him repeat it.
He had long since seen through her: Ji Muran was all bravado without the courage. It was she who initially suggested pretending to be a real couple and chasing him.
He gave Ji Muran a chance but found that she lacked the guts.
Seeing how nervous she was, Shen Wenzhou helplessly continued, "I an let’s date, not for any other reason. Let’s give it a try."
Shen Wenzhou couldn’t be sure how much he really liked Ji Muran, but he knew he wanted to try and make it work if it was with her.
"Are you serious?" Ji Muran stuttered, her body even trembling slightly, showing her extre anxiety.
"When have I ever lied to you?" Shen Wenzhou asked.
Whether it was not wanting to go on a blind date initially or later pretending to be a couple, Shen Wenzhou had always made his intentions clear to her.
