So, the two of them went to the riverside and asked an old boatman, making sure he specialized in taking tourists, before they boarded the boat.

This was Ye Wanwan’s first ti on a boat, and she found the experience incredibly novel. Moreover, the weather here was pleasant. Even though it was already noon, she didn’t feel scorched by the sun because on the river, it was rather cool.

The old man paddled the boat while chatting, but he spoke the old dialect of Jiangnan, which Ye Wanwan couldn’t understand. When she turned her head to look at Shen Yi, he shook his head too, indicating that he also didn’t understand.

Ye Wanwan then tried to communicate with the old man in Mandarin. The old man could speak it, but his pronunciation wasn’t standard, and after a long conversation, they still couldn’t make sense of it.

After returning ho, Ye Wanwan took a bath, then lay down on the bed and fell asleep shortly after.

Shen Yi watched Ye Wanwan fall asleep and then carefully left the room.

...

When Ye Wanwan woke up, she found that Shen Yi was not in the bedroom.

She tidied up a bit and left the room, planning to look for Shen Yi.

But as soon as she ca out of the room, Ye Wanwan sensed sothing was off.

Red "double happiness" characters were pasted on doors and windows, and red silk ribbons were tied around columns under the eaves. Ye Wanwan frowned – what was going on here?

She had only slept for a while, so how had everything outside changed like this?

Ye Wanwan, full of doubt and curiosity, headed toward the front hall. Along the way, she saw red "double happiness" characters everywhere, and red silk ribbons fluttering gently in the breeze.

It was like a wedding scene from a period drama, though much simpler and not as exaggerated as those on TV.

By the ti Ye Wanwan reached the front hall, she realized it had been thoroughly transford. There were many people there, including Shen Yi.

"The young madam has arrived," the housekeeper Tang announced.

Everyone lifted their heads at the sound, greeting Ye Wanwan politely with a chorus of "Mrs. Shen."

Shen Yi also noticed Ye Wanwan standing at the doorway, looking bewildered, and he smiled at her gently, "Awake?"

Ye Wanwan nodded dumbly, still looking around in confusion.

At that mont, Shen Yi stood up, made his way through the crowd, and ca to Ye Wanwan’s side. She then asked him quietly, "What’s going on? Is soone in the household getting married?"

"Mhm," Shen Yi nodded.

"Who?" Ye Wanwan asked incredulously. Besides herself and Shen Yi, there was only Grandpa Tang’s family and so housekeeping staff.

She had t Grandpa Tang’s grandson the day before, who seed of marriageable age. Could it be Grandpa Tang’s grandson’s wedding?

But that didn’t seem likely at all.

Although Shen Yi appeared to be close to Grandpa Tang, this was still the Shen Family estate after all.

Even if no one from the Shen Family lived here now, it was still the Shen Family’s house. Grandpa Tang’s grandson’s wedding should not be held here.

Moreover, Grandpa Tang’s grandson didn’t live here. The only reason he was here yesterday was because of Shen Yi’s visit; Grandpa Tang is quite traditional and had asked his grandson to co back for that reason.

Seeing that Ye Wanwan was still completely baffled, Shen Yi smiled, leaned over to her ear, and whispered softly, "It is indeed a wedding, but it’s our wedding."

"What did you say?" Ye Wanwan’s brows were tightly furrowed, suddenly doubting whether her ears had failed her.
