Following her usual habit, Ye Wanwan would take a nap after lunch, but today she lay in bed and couldn’t sleep.
Ye Wanwan stared at the ceiling for a long ti before she finally turned over, got out of bed, and walked barefoot into the walk-in closet.
In the spacious closet, only a quarter of the space was filled with Shen Yi’s clothes and accessories, while the rest belonged to Ye Wanwan.
Ye Wanwan carefully chose a dress for herself, changed her clothes, and then went to the dressing table to start applying makeup.
...
Three o’clock in the afternoon.
Shen Yi had just co down from a eting upstairs, exiting the staircase, when he saw his departnt’s colleagues distributing drinks like coffee and milk tea from afar.
Shen Yi usually wouldn’t care about these things, but they shouldn’t flaunt them too much, laughing and drinking during work hours—what would that look like?
Shen Yi walked over with a frown, but before he could say anything, he heard one of his colleagues say excitedly, "Manager Shen, your wife is here. She ordered afternoon tea for everyone and is waiting for you in your office."
Though Shen Yi was currently only a manager, everyone in the company knew that he was the Prince of Jinghong and was destined to take over Jinghong Group. Hence, Manager Shen’s wife was naturally the future madam.
And this was their first ti seeing Ye Wanwan, so they were naturally a bit excited.
Upon hearing that Ye Wanwan had arrived, the frown on Shen Yi’s face disappeared, and he looked sowhat surprised.
He looked at his watch—it had just passed three o’clock. Why had she co so early?
Without saying another word, Shen Yi quickened his steps toward his office.
Shen Yi’s office was separated by transparent glass, and the blinds weren’t drawn, so he could already see the person standing by the floor-to-ceiling window before he reached the office.
When he pushed the door open, making a noise, the Ye Wanwan inside also turned around.
"Why have you co so early?" Shen Yi asked in a light tone.
Ye Wanwan smiled with a hint of embarrassnt, "I couldn’t sleep, so I just ca over. Will I disturb your work?"
She was already in Shen Yi’s office when she suddenly rembered, coming to the company so early, would it disturb Shen Yi’s work?
What’s more, was she coming on too strong by showing up at the company? Didn’t she do exactly that in her last life—being too paranoid, wishing she could tie Shen Yi to her side and watch him every single mont wasn’t enough.
Ye Wanwan was considering whether she should instead find a coffee shop downstairs or look around a nearby mall, so she wouldn’t focus all her attention on Shen Yi.
But before she had the chance to leave, Shen Yi ca back from the eting.
Shen Yi placed the folder in his hand on the office desk and then went to Ye Wanwan’s side, speaking softly, "No, you won’t."
Ye Wanwan let out a slight sigh of relief, "That’s good."
"As long as I’m here, you can co by anyti, you won’t disturb my work."
As he spoke, Shen Yi reached out and drew Ye Wanwan into his embrace.
"What are you doing!" Ye Wanwan was sowhat astonished, instinctively trying to push Shen Yi away.
But Shen Yi didn’t give her the chance and successfully held her in his embrace, resting his chin on the top of her head, feeling the existence of the person in his arms.
That tangible sense of presence made Shen Yi feel very at ease.
