Erging from the airport, Shen Yi instructed the driver to send Assistant Chen back and told him, "You’ve worked hard during this past half year. Take a week off and co back to work after that."
"It’s all part of my job," Assistant Chen said, bowing slightly in a very respectful manner, before continuing, "Then I’ll take my leave. I wish you a pleasant vacation, Shen."
Assistant Chen tactfully got into the car, not lingering to disturb Shen and his wife.
As the driver pulled away, Shen Yi turned to Ye Wanwan and said, "Let’s go, we should head ho too."
"Oh," Ye Wanwan replied, glancing at Shen Yi sowhat guiltily. When she saw him looking at her, she quickly averted her eyes.
Shen Yi didn’t say much, just held Ye Wanwan’s hand and waited at the airport entrance until Uncle Zhang arrived with the car.
On the way back, Uncle Zhang tactfully raised the partition in the car, giving them privacy and not disturbing the couple’s reunion after their ti apart.
At this mont, however, neither person in the backseat spoke, and the atmosphere carried an awkwardness that was hard to define.
Eventually, it was a guilt-ridden Ye Wanwan who couldn’t bear the silence and forced an awkward smile, "Why did you suddenly co back this ti?"
No sooner had she asked, Ye Wanwan rembered Shen Yi’s last visit. He had simply used a layover as an excuse to see her!
Although it was touching that Shen Yi didn’t want to miss even a few hours of a layover to rush back and see her,
she was upset because he insisted on saying that he ca back for their marriage anniversary and didn’t explain anything when she was blaming herself, Ye Wanwan felt like Shen Yi was deceiving her.
Deceiving her emotions!
What mattered most was that for over ten days, Shen Yi seed to think she was angry because of being scolded by Mrs. Su at the pool party, and that she was taking it out on him!
Ye Wanwan thought to herself, Shen Yi probably still believed everything was fine and was completely unaware she knew that his last visit was solely for a business trip.
With that realization, Ye Wanwan imdiately felt bolder. Why should she feel guilty? She should be the one who was angry!
Finally, Shen Yi made a move. He turned to look at Ye Wanwan, apparently puzzled, and asked seriously, "What? You don’t want to co back?"
"No, it’s not that! It’s just that you ca back so suddenly without a word, I was just asking," Ye Wanwan said, her gaze fixed on Shen Yi. She was curious to see what excuse he might co up with this ti.
Seeing Ye Wanwan’s expression, Shen Yi sighed sowhat helplessly, and finally raised his hand to rub her head a bit too vigorously.
"What are you doing!" Ye Wanwan quickly dodged to the side, breaking free from Shen Yi’s grasp, and looked at him with a face full of reproach while she tidied her hair.
Seeing her sowhat goofy appearance, Shen Yi smiled faintly, "I’ve officially handed over the work at the D Country branch, so my work there is finished."
"Ah?" Ye Wanwan blinked in surprise, then said sowhat excitedly, "So does that an you don’t have to go to D Country anymore?"
Shen Yi furrowed his eyebrows slightly and thought for a few seconds, "Going forward, I might still need to go there on business trips."
"Really!" Ye Wanwan’s eyes lit up with delight.
"Of course," Shen Yi affird.
Seeing Ye Wanwan so happy, Shen Yi’s mood also lifted, and it seed that in this mont, he felt that Ye Wanwan hoped to have him by her side again.
