Hai Li saw the situation, rolled her eyes disdainfully, and without holding back the contempt in her eyes, asked no further questions, settling herself at her desk.

Fang Xian didn’t care whether it was useful or not, cramming all her belongings into a small box and then, carrying the box, left the secretary’s office.

It was only after Fang Xian went out carrying the box that Hai Li, who had been working all along, lifted her head to watch Fang Xian’s retreating figure, face full of scornful laughter, knowing all too well the reason behind Fang Xian’s previous resignation.

Everyone else thought she had resigned normally and then co here, but Hai Li had caught wind of the real story: Fang Xian was fired for failing to seduce Mr. Shen.

It was only that her leader had kindly let her leave on her own terms.

Fang Xian left the company without going through the resignation process or handing over her work, and even though Mr. Dewen had promised to compensate her salary, Fang Xian didn’t want it at all.

She could never have imagined that rely delivering docunts would result in losing her job upon her return.

But the implied ssage in Mr. Dewen’s words, both said and unsaid, was that she should just concentrate on working well in the future without harboring inappropriate thoughts or offending the wrong people.

At that mont, Fang Xian understood that it must have been Mr. Shen who had notified Mr. Dewen, causing this outco.

Fang Xian’s teeth were nearly clenched to breaking. What did he an by harboring inappropriate thoughts?

What thoughts did she have?

All she thought was that Mr. Shen was a remarkable person, and she admired him—that was all. Yet, she was driven out of the company by Mr. Shen.

Is admiring soone’s work abilities now a mistake?

Fine, even if it were so, why wouldn’t Mr. Shen leave her alone now that she was working for another company?

Thinking of Mrs. Shen whom she had encountered that day, as well as the events that followed, a flash of hatred crossed her eyes.

It must have been that woman who made Mr. Shen do this!

It must be because of that woman that she kept losing jobs!

After Shen Yi left the company with Ye Wanwan, seeing her in low spirits, he decided to take her back to the apartnt first.

Back at ho, Ye Wanwan remained dispirited, sitting on the couch watching a TV drama she couldn’t understand at all, looking utterly exhausted.

Shen Yi didn’t ask what had happened; he simply sat down beside her and naturally pulled her into his embrace.

He played with Ye Wanwan’s long hair while asking, "What would you like to eat tonight?"

Knowing that Ye Wanwan had co with her in-laws, Shen Yi had originally planned to et them first, but having called in the morning and learned that her father had business to attend to, he arranged to have dinner with them the next day.

"Anything’s fine," Ye Wanwan replied listlessly.

Shen Yi didn’t take offense, and after thinking for a bit, continued, "There’s a decent Western restaurant, want to try it?"

"Sure," Ye Wanwan lacked enthusiasm but didn’t refuse Shen Yi.

"There’s still ti now, rest up a bit, and we’ll go out later," Shen Yi said and took out his phone to ssage Assistant Chen, instructing him to reserve a table in advance.

Ye Wanwan didn’t say much else and just leaned into Shen Yi’s arms, eyes on the TV but her mind on other matters.

It wasn’t until after five that Shen Yi took Ye Wanwan out, drove to the restaurant.

The restaurant’s lights were dim, a cellist was playing, the place wasn’t too crowded, oozing with a romantic atmosphere.
