The eting that followed went on without Shen Yi being distracted again, but it was clear to anyone with eyes that Manager Shen was out of sorts today.
And this was sothing that had never happened before.
After the eting had ended and he returned to his office, Shen Yi checked the ti; it was half past four. He took out his phone, intending to call Ye Wanwan.
But when he was about to make the call, he hesitated and eventually sent a WeChat ssage to Ye Wanwan, saying he would pick her up after work.
Whatever Ye Wanwan was doing on her end, Shen Yi waited for a while but didn’t get a reply from her, and his expression grew increasingly grim.
Assistant Chen knocked and then ca in from outside, "Manager Shen, tonight..."
"I have sothing else to attend to and need to leave first," Shen Yi interrupted Assistant Chen before he could finish, rising from his seat and striding out.
Assistant Chen hurriedly said, "Manager Shen, the president of Sicheng has invited you to dinner tonight."
"You go," Shen Yi said, already heading out of the office.
Assistant Chen’s eyes widened, watching as Manager Shen left, taking a long ti to co back to his senses, now fully certain that their Manager Shen was definitely having an off day!
Shen Yi was on his way to Galaxy Entertainnt when it started to drizzle outside.
Halfway there, he received a reply from Ye Wanwan. She said it was raining and told him not to trouble himself, that she would just go back on her own after work.
All Shen Yi replied was, "On the way."
The rain outside gradually grew heavier, pelting the windows with a patter that seed to strike directly at Shen Yi’s heart with every drop, his frown deepening.
A journey that normally took half an hour had already taken that long today, and he still hadn’t reached Galaxy Entertainnt.
As more ti trickled by, they remained stuck at the last intersection for a long ti; unable to wait any longer, Shen Yi asked the driver, Xiaozhou, "What’s going on up ahead?"
"There might have been an accident," Xiaozhou responded.
Shen Yi glanced at his watch; it was already half past five, and there was no telling how long it would take to clear up the accident.
After about ten more minutes, Shen Yi lost his patience, opening the car door as he said, "I’ll walk the rest of the way."
This was the last intersection, and walking would take roughly ten minutes.
"Sir, it’s pouring outside..."
Xiaozhou hadn’t finished speaking when Shen Yi had already gotten out of the car, braving the rain to retrieve an umbrella from the trunk, and then he started walking along the sidewalk with the umbrella unfurled.

When Ye Wanwan left work with her colleagues from the company building, she saw Shen Yi waiting at the entrance.
She had been talking to Yu Qiqi, but when she saw Shen Yi, she paused and then quickly waved to them before walking towards Shen Yi.
"Why are you in the rain?" Ye Wanwan frowned and asked.
It was cold today; Ye Wanwan was wearing a thick woollen coat and a scarf, wrapped up snugly.
But Shen Yi was just in a suit, not even wearing a thick coat; more importantly, it was obvious that he had been caught in the rain.
When Shen Yi saw Ye Wanwan, he finally showed a hint of a smile. His gaze was intense as he stared at her, his voice a bit hoarse, "Traffic was bad today, I got stuck, so I walked."
He had an umbrella, but with the heavy rain, it was inevitable that so of his clothing got wet.
But none of that mattered. He was restless and anxious, his heart only wanting to see Ye Wanwan.
