The elevator ride was smooth and silent.
October peeked at her secretary who was standing beside her scrolling into her tab checking October’s schedule for the week. She looked so focus.
Yun Xixi is a cute girl with an outgoing personality but competent with her work. Xixi always wore her straight hair down. It was a shade of dark brown almost black and cut just before it reached her shoulders. There was also a single pearl hairpin placed on her hair.
October rembered that her secretary’s hair before had a sleek crop cut making her heart-shaped face more noticeable. She was also shy and clumsy before but after a year and a half working under October, she gradually got used to her work and beca innovative into making her work more efficient and effective, enabling her to work faster and deliver great results. October was really amazed at her performance.
Thinking about it, it was also at that sa year since she got promoted into her current position now. Ti really does fly fast. October thought but frowned right after as she realized that she’s been so busy with work that she doesn’t have much ti thinking about sothing else.
She’s getting older every year. Her grandfather’s sermons were also getting longer and longer, always nagging about getting herself a husband. I an, how can she even find one when she’s so focused with work that she forgot to land herself a man.
Xixi looked at her boss who was standing with a perfect pose, even breathing, and calm nature. She really admired her boss who’s a lady exuding with elegance. Plus, she’s young and a cold beauty! She was always so calm. You’ll never see a crack from her. Angry or not, one will never know from her face until you’ll feel the pressure and stifling feeling she’ll give you.
But Xixi didn’t know that her boss’ mind was elsewhere, to be exact, she’s thinking about how she’ll find a man for herself.
"Director, your eting with Manager Bei and his team will be at 10 AM today. After that, you’ll have a eting with the Director Lu to discuss about a new project..." Xixi listed all of her schedule for today and tomorrow.
"Okay." October nodded at the sa ti that they arrived at her floor.
Walking out, she said, "Remind my schedule this afternoon." She went into her office and closed the door.
October imdiately switched to work mode. She imdiately opened her laptop and worked. She also reviewed all the docunts piled up on her desk. She made sure that all of the docunts are checked before signing her na on it and piled it on a separate wrack. There were also another pile of docunts that she rejected or docunts that needs revisions.
She was reviewing a docunt when suddenly, her telephone that was directly connected to her secretary rang. After the third ring, she answered, still flipping the docunt. "Yes."
"Director, there’s a delivery for you." Xixi said, relaying a ssage from the receptionist on the ground floor who politely inford her.
"What is it?" October nonchalantly asked.
Xixi got flustered at the question. "I’m sorry, Director. I was not able to ask her what it was."
"No need. Just send it in." October wondered what delivery she was going to get but just shrugged it off and continued reviewing the docunt before her.
After a few monts, a few knocks was heard on her door. "Co in." She consented. Xixi opened the door and entered.
October still didn’t peel her eyes off the docunt as she began correcting it, crossing out so words that she deems inappropriate or just simply encircling it. This is yet another proposal that needs to be revised.
"Director, where should I put these? Xixi giddily asked as she stopped in front of her desk. She was really pleasantly surprised of this "gift." But thinking more about it, the director is pretty so it was natural for her boss to receive such. Xixi proudly thought to herself.
"Just put it there." October then pointed on the side of her table.
Giggling, Xixi placed the item beside her and swiftly got out. She is very curious of who sent it.
October imrsed herself with work without stopping to look at the itemy beside It was really just so scribbling she wanted to put and so comnts on the side. She always does this before giving it to Director Sheng, the Director of Marketing. She wants to make sure that everything’s been checked before forwarding it to her superior. Even though Director Sheng said that she doesn’t need to do it but she insisted on doing it anyway, that’s why her table is filled with it.
So say that she was a perfectionist, but October thought that she’s not. For her, it is more rewarding and satisfying to improve sothing even if it’s far from perfect than not doing anything when you know you can do better.
October flexed her tired hand when she unexpectedly bumped into sothing beside her. She snapped her head into that direction and froze. Her calm self was still there but her eyes gave her away for she can’t help herself but widen her eyes for a split second. It imdiately vanished like it never even happened.
October straightened her back unconsciously as she reached out her hands to hold it, her eyes glittered and softened as she held it closer to her and, imdiately, it’s scent wafted into her.
It really is real. This is a bouquet of colorful calla lilies and carnations on her hand!
Like an explosion, October’s mind was in chaos and utter shock and her heart skipped a beat. Who could have sent her these flowers?
Thinking this, she imdiately looked for a card on the flowers but there was none. Why so mysterious?
October was disappointed as she leaned on her chair while holding the bouquet and lightly picking on the flowers.
The ice beauty before is now lting and glowing radiantly. If the employees saw her now, they would surely hold their breaths as they stare at her in awe.
October took another whiff of the flower’s sweet fragrance when sothing blue caught her eye. She imdiately looked at it and there, placed on top of her table, was a small blue box.
October curiously looked at it and reached out her hand to grab it as she placed the flowers on the table. "What is this?" she asked herself loudly and decided to open it.
It was a silver necklace with a flower pendant using sapphire stones as its petals. Her eyes squinted and pulled the silver necklace out of its box. There was also a small note on it which reads "Forget--not Flower" and below it is a "Every flower is a language in and of itself."
As October read it, her heart almost leaped out of her chest and turned to look at the bouquet of flowers then to the necklace on her hand. She stared at the flower pendant for long, glaring at it. And then sothing dawned on her.
From the light feeling she gave off before, it was now an atmosphere filled with gloom.
These sapphire stones looked so oddly familiar to her for there was only one person who has this sa blue color, a man that has such blue eyes.
