"I am always honest with you and I always put you first in the decisions I have made. I also respect all of your decisions, but..." Lexus’ hold of October’s hands tightened for a bit, a little tense, before continuing, increasing the tension in the air.
"What is it?" October asked, raising her brow. She was a bit annoyed about how Lexus was going about and running in circles. She already had an idea of what it was but the man was acting too tense with all of this and seed a little too uneasy. This was not the usual him. To think that he would be too uncomfortable about this.
Lexus tightened his jaws, took a deep breath to gather his courage to say the things that were hard for him to say in front of his wife.
"Please apply for an early maternity leave."
"...?" October was at a loss for words as her mind went blank for a split second. She blinked her eyes a few tis before she ca out of her trance.
Boy she did not see that one coming.
Noticing the lack of response from October, Lexus beca more uneasy. The growing silence and lack of response from her was unnerving. But he does not want to back down. He had already took a step forward and he was not planning on taking two steps back. He had to be firm with this and try to persuade her.
"This is sudden and I know about the current situation in your company. And yes, I know that you have so sentints about it but please hear out. I swear to you that I will take care of it and that you don’t have to worry about it." Lexus sounded so desperate. However, no one can bla him because he is a total slave to his wife and that is not an exaggeration.
"You–" October started but noticed Lexus tensing up which she saw as painfully cute.
"Wife, hate if you want but I won’t change my decision. Even if you won’t let sleep with you for months, I’ll endure it. But divorce is out of the question."
October sighed in helplessness before saying, "I thought you wanted to quit my job."
"Yes, I would love that." Lexus’ imdiate reply. He thought that he might have sounded abrupt and rude. He cleared his throat to hide his embarrassnt.
October squinted her eyes at him but did not say anything.
"I—I would want that but knowing you, I know you don’t want to, especially now that you have ties with the Halo Company which is very undeniable. Basing on the limited choices I have...no, that’s the only choice I have. So, whether it be having you quit or you go on a vacation, it is more feasible that you would choose the forr. Hence, what I said. So, please take a long vacation."

"Pfft—" October couldn’t keep her laughter in any longer and let out a soft and light chuckle while shaking her head. It sounded ridiculous but then thought that maybe Lexus was really soone like this, thinking of the best course of action on the problem at hand, like he was handling a business.
’How typical of him.’ She thought and her smile widened even more when she saw the dumbfounded look on Lexus’ face. Clearly, he did not expect that she would laugh at his face during this "serious" talk they were having.
"Okay. I’ll follow your arrangent."
"If not, I will not accept it. I’ll call your superior for you—what?" Lexus felt like he heard wrong...or did he? He looked at October’s serene face that smiled gently and sweetly at him. "You...you’re okay with it?"
October nodded her head and went to bury herself in Lexus’ chest. "Isn’t it a given? I can’t be so adamant now knowing that my husband is begging for to do it and looked like he was about to cry if I continue being stubborn."
Lexus sighed and bitterly smiled. "I’m glad you understand. I could no longer risk you and our child’s lives. I...I couldn’t bear it."
His voice thinned down on the last few words he uttered. It broke. His eyes were downcast and bleak while unconsciously rubbing his thumb in circles on October’s hand. His thoughts were hidden behind his downcasted eyes, hidden from the watchful eyes of his wife.
The tension in the air had finally cald down and even though the silence in them had descended yet again, it was not heavy and cold. Instead, it was warm and comforting.
Lexus was the first one who broke the silence.
"So I expect you to stay here tomorrow." He said with a bright and excited smile on his face.
’As I go to work, my wife would send to the door and kiss goodbye. I would be in the office, working, while she is at ho, cooking sothing for our dinner. I would occasionally check up on her through calls and then have a hearty conversation. When I go ho, I’ll be greeted by my wife with a kiss by the door.’
Lexus was over the clouds thinking the activities that will transpire in the next few days. His face, despite his happy thoughts, was stiff and frigid. But the sparkle in his eyes were more than enough to show the happiness more beautiful and brighter than fireworks in the night skies.
It was just blinding yet srizing at the sa ti. It was sucking all of October’s attention but his happiness was short-lived as she dropped a bomb on him.
"Tomorrow is not possible." October said without any fluctuation in her voice. Though like that, her eyes were wide and full of anticipation and curiosity at what would be his reaction. And sure enough, October saw a Lexus who was frozen stiff on his seat with eyes as dead as a fish’s and slowly crumbled to dust.
’Though I feel bad to ruin his mood, I can’t just ask for a leave so suddenly, especially since Xixi is nowhere to be found. Speaking of Xixi, where the heck is that girl?’
October’s thought drifted away from the man before her who was so pitiful as if a seven-year-old boy who can’t play outside because of having a lot of howork to finish.
"Why not?" Lexus pouted. He could not understand why tomorrow wasn’t possible? If it was him, he could just call Assistant Yu that he would not be working for a while and cancel all etings and have it all rescheduled. It was that easy.
October pulled her hands from Lexus’ and got up to head into the kitchen.
’Sotis, he is so annoying.’ She thought and rubbed her stomach, feeling famished.
Lexus heaved a long sigh before following October, back slouching as if the skies were weighing on his back.
"I have to finish my work. I still have backlogs to finish. Especially since Xixi isn’t around, I have to do sothing to make up for her absence." Shrugging her shoulders, October swept her hair on the side before sitting on the table where all sorts of food that were all mouth-watering were served beforehand, still steaming hot.
"That little secretary? Ahh...I guess she went back to her ho." Lexus nodded in understanding as he nonchalantly said this. He got a beef stir fry and scooped spoonfuls of it and put it on her plate. He also got a bowl and put so chicken soup in it. He also thoughtfully put other dishes and put it on her plate. He did not stop there as he also went to pour water on a glass and put it in front of October. He was being very attentive and careful in his movents so as not to cause any potential accidents.
October could not help but swallow her drool that was threatening to leak out of her mouth. But the only thing that she had no control of was the loud growling of her stomach. She and the little beans in her are hungry.
As October wolfed down her food, spoonful after spoonful, she rembered her accidental eting with Zhihuan at Josh’s store. She looked at Lexus who was quietly eating his food beside her before slowly swallowing her food down her throat.
Seemingly noticing her gaze, Lexus turned to her with a slight smirk and asked, "Do I look that good that you can’t take your eyes of even during eating?"
"That should be my line." She retorted and went to eating.
’Well, it’s not really that necessary to tell him about it.’ October thought as she dismissed that small incident of eting her ex-boyfriend in the afternoon to Lexus.
Contrary to October’s thinking, Lexus had already known about what happened earlier that afternoon. How, you ask? Well, of course it ca from the one and only Josh the designer.
Lexus was just waiting for October to tell him all about it but it seed that his wife was not planning on telling him all about it. It was honestly pissing him off as to why October was not saying anything but still chose to control himself and whatever October does, he would trust her no matter what.
