Chapter 52: 53、You in the Depths of mory
“My woman?” Michael Gordon lazily stirred these words, “So my taste was this bad before I lost my mory, no wonder I would be knocked out in bed by a woman!”
Alya Larson was clearly the kind of scheming and calculating woman, and although he preferred spiky won, he disliked the cunning ones.
So mories may be gone, but people’s tastes don’t change, and Michael was clear about this.
“You brat, how can you talk like that, who are you mocking in such an odd tone?” Calvin Gordon was apparently angered, “I won’t let you ss around this ti, I’m giving you two months. If you don’t find a suitable partner to give
a grandchild in that ti, you’ll marry Alya!”
“Two months, huh?”
To Calvin Gordon’s surprise, Michael didn’t reject this idea outright or leave in a huff like before, instead confirming the ti with him.
“Yes, just two months!” Calvin was a bit unsure of his intentions but announced his plan anyway, “Your company is hiring legal affairs staff lately, right? Alya studied law, so she can help you out there!”
“Dad!” Michael knew what his father’s idea was, “Didn’t you say you’d give
two months? Why are you shoving her at
now? Are you so sure I won’t find a suitable person to marry within these two months?”
“You haven’t found anyone for years, I don’t expect you to find soone in two months. Let Alya help in your company, and at the sa ti, you can develop feelings for her!”
Calvin thought this sensible and lovely child, Alya, was suitable to be the daughter-in-law of the Gordon family, especially since she liked Michael and didn’t mind the debts he owed due to his past relationships. Moreover, she had a good background and was introduced by Risa Scott, so he was naturally pleased with her.
“Dad, so things can’t be said so absolutely. Two months can be short or long. Maybe, if I’m not careful, I’ll not only find a partner, but also have a child on the way. What then?”
Michael glanced at Alya, who sat quietly beside Risa Scott and spoke lazily, “Would Dad force Miss Larson to marry my younger brother then?”
“Michael, your father ans well for you, do you have to get so angry with him?” Seeing Michael’s snappy remarks, Risa quickly stepped in to smooth things over, “If you really find a suitable partner, your dad wouldn’t force you to marry Alya, right? You two were originally a couple, but you forgot everything when you lost your mory. Alya didn’t forget. As elders, we just hope for devoted lovers to be together, don’t we?”
Risa’s words were well-argued, making her sound like the perfect stepmother. Still, Michael had long been used to her tactics and saw through her pretense. The more superficially skilled people are, the more extensive their hidden moves tend to be.
On the other hand, outspoken won make their intentions clear, which is why he liked spiky won, as they are genuine. When thinking of a spiky woman, Ivy Aretha’s beautiful yet mischievous face appeared in Michael’s mind.
Undeniably, she was extrely beautiful, but he valued her mysterious aura more than her looks. She was like a dandelion in the wind that could scatter at any mont. Despite being close to him, she could also suddenly vanish.
Who exactly is she? Why is it that every ti he sees her, he can’t resist the urge to get close to her, even if she ruthlessly rejects him? He can’t help but want to get closer and learn more about her.
Enough, he didn’t want to think about it anymore. Since she was still under his watch, he had plenty of ti to figure things out. After finishing his coffee, Michael went upstairs on his own, treating the three people downstairs as if they didn’t exist.
Seeing that Michael had left without paying attention to her, Alya felt bored and got up to leave.
“Alya, Michael has always been like this, spoiled by
since he was a child. Don’t take his words to heart!” Calvin comforted her awkwardly, “But once this guy falls in love, he’s more devoted than anyone. So rest assured, he’ll treat you well in the future. Don’t worry, I’ll arrange for you to join Allure International to help you build a relationship!”
Upon hearing Calvin’s words, Alya’s heart settled: “Thank you, Uncle Gordon, I love Michael, including all his flaws. I believe that one day, he will see the good in !”
“Good, good!” Hearing her words, Calvin was overjoyed since she was his ideal daughter-in-law, “You’re such a good girl. Let
have the driver take you ho!”
Although she had driven herself to the house, she wanted more chances to learn about Michael’s life, so she didn’t refuse.
The next day, when Ivy arrived at work, she found Michael’s office empty. She felt strange not seeing him and only breathed a sigh of relief after confirming he wasn’t there.
In her heart, she was worried about Michael’s words from the night before that she would pay if he ever saw her again. Feeling cocky at the ti, Ivy started to panic afterward.
Would Michael take the opportunity to fire her? Considering that she currently needed this job to support her daughter, the thought made her even more nervous and uneasy.
After a while, Ivy reassured herself that since she was good at her job and hadn’t made any mistakes, Michael wouldn’t go as far as firing her over a personal grudge. At most, he would just make her work overti mysteriously.
Recalling how much overti she had worked as his secretary, Ivy felt terrified. However, she was relieved to know that the weekend was approaching and Anna would return the following Monday, ending her exhausting days.
Just as she thought of this, a heavy pat on the head startled her, followed by a deep, resonant voice: “Stop daydreaming! Hurry up and pack your things. We’re going on a business trip!”
What?
“A business trip? Now? ?”
Ivy couldn’t believe it as she looked at Michael, who stood there in a sleek black suit and tie, holding a suitcase. He appeared to be well-prepared and ready for the trip.
“If not you, am I talking to a ghost?” Michael said while looking at his wristwatch, “Hurry up and get ready. Wait, never mind, we don’t have ti. We’ll buy everything once we get there!”
Without waiting for her answer, he dragged her out of the secretary’s office as if they were significantly late.
“Mr. Gordon… why do I, a personal secretary, need to go on a business trip? I’m not in sales!”
“At least you know you’re my personal secretary now.” Michael looked at her surprised little face with amusent, “Your boss is going on a business trip, and you, as the personal secretary, don’t go? What kind of personal secretary doesn’t accompany their boss? Personal secretaries should naturally stick close!”
Ivy: “…” What kind of shitty explanation is this?!
